It never hurts to check, especially if you're unsure of the last time it was done. I know we've had our RV 4 years now and it was never done, but full time useage is different than seasonal useage. These rods are fairly in-expensive. RV stores are charging the price for 2 compared to Amazon. this means that its doing its job, its the sacrificial rod so it gets oxidized instead other parts in the tank!
