Blondie, incredible band in late 70,s through early 80’s….Plastic Letters, Parallel Lines, Eat to the Beat and Automerican…..Had them all on Vinyl and then CD…..LOVE THIS MUSIC!
Lord she was beautiful and talented. There has never been female front singer like her.
1Atomtan I love Debbie but there was another front woman even better than Debbie and that was Chrissie Amphlett of The Divinyls.
Never recovered from the fact that I passed on seeing her play in the Edinburgh Odeon in mid-70's; what a fool!

Yes i am a fan of Frankie and all the other guys. Just about went broke and had to call in alot of favours to go see Blondie get inducted in the HoF and it just about broke my heart to see them beg to play and then refused the honor. They were there in the day and we all remember who was in the band then. Have seen many good bands in the day, but i won't forget the 1st time i saw Blondie!
My wife looks just like Debbie and is really sweet and other things I can't write here. I am a very lucky man.

Just Fucking Fantastic! She's like a dream on Acid. Debbie Harry was Plugged INTO the MATRIX, And Got Out!!! She's trying to free all our Minds and Hearts. Or in most of her songs, she seems to sing about someone WHO HAS broken out of the matrix! And to look back, it was all done in the 70's {Or who knows what the real time was}.

poor judy - i saw her life story (maybe "Biography")....the poor woman was spit out by hollywood and always under such pressure to be thin. i guess that goes with the territory. but she was loved by millions, but she loathed herself, i guess. i recommend that documentary on her life- its very interesting and shows how the entertainment industry has always worshipped a certain ideal of beauty, which garland just did not have, despite her talent. i always looked around and could never find much about lorna luft - there is NOTHING on her association w. blondie. was she buds with debbie? debbie was a new yorker, pretty much - maybe she loved theater and musicals and that is how their paths crossed? i dont know.

Yeah, fur sure, she's "unsurpassable" in a way (though much much copycats trying to reach her, unsuccessfully....It was one of my first LP ever too, great! This is still, after all theses years and critics one of my TOP 30 albums !

@Mastercorder The founders of the band really were Debbie and Chris. Clem joined and through Clem, Gary joined. But the original bassist, before Gary, was Fred Smith who would go on to join the band Television.

@gleesongroupmedia Definitely- good call. The over-all feel and atmosphere was no doubt intended and an homage to the Tamla-Motown sound. The "Stop"s in this song is exactly the same as the ones in the Supreme's "Stop In The Name Of Love". Blondie was always a tongue-in-cheek band and so playfully clever.
Louis Best of the 80's, such as estoric quailty to the lyrics and her voice, a pathos (we could use today!) and the band is also incredibly talented, it's why we weren't listening to Madonna or Prince
This should have been released as a single......truly believe this would have hit Number 1, and what about 11:59......that would have made it too........

@boltonox 1979 was a very, very taxing and grueling year for Blondie. Compare Debbie's "fresh" appearance in early 1979 on the Midnight Special, for example, to the autumn of '79 when this was filmed- a big difference. The strain was taking its toll on the band, especially Debbie. Then again, here her make-up is a lot heavier, too.
