  • A montage of every step of this very challenging build of 'Sharkey' Ward's 004 Sea Harrier that scored a Dagger kill on 21st May 1982 in the Falklands conflict. Despite the nice appearance of the finished model, this was a very difficult build.
    The model is accompanied by pilot Nigel 'Sharkey' Ward, who shot down 3 aregntine aircraft during the conflict, including a Mirage 'DAGGER' in this aircraft.
    Don't miss my detailed after-build RANT video 😤 😡 🤬 where I lay before you all the issues with this disappointing and overpriced kit...Coming soon!
    Soundtrack: The William Tell Overture by Rossini.

    I remember you said you had a rough time putting this one together, but in the end it came out nicely! One of the many rewards of this hobby of ours!

    Wow Peter, for a kit that was a right PITA to build, your finished model looks truly amazing! Well done!

    As we used to say around IPMS/Atlanta:"Nothing that a good modeler couldn't fix...."
    Great job at overcoming obstacles, Peter.

    The Overture is uhh, telling 😆, you hit the mark with this build! Couldn’t have been easy dragging that kit across the finish line. Great work sir 👍🏻.

    Having watched some of your box reviews, I recall just how frustrating you have found this kit. The result however is exemplary, you have the skill and tenacity to make a silk purse. The William Tell, was a pleasant change from the techno music that usually accompanies builds! Well done!

    Perfect work to small. We can't do it. Falklands is a bad memory for me. Lost those men while sleeping.

      This is not the full, high octane rant...that will come later in the week, this be photos that will show the stages and issues with the build which will give my fury & comedy some context! 🤣

    From the ninth circle of hell to the dizzy heights of modeling heaven 🤣you turned an ugly duckling into a swan, looks great and is a fitting tribute to all who fought in the South Atlantic, loved the music finishing with the Willam Tell Overture

    I just watched a video of a Brazilian modeler doing a slam up job on a Kinetic Mirage 3.
    It also suffered from a very bad fit...

  • @chrishighley5968
    @chrishighley5968 Рік тому +2

    Came out beautifully! I'm building the GR3 version at the moment; fewer fit issues. Can I ask how you did the weathering/scratching on the fuel tanks? Thanks!

    • @Peter-Oxley-Modelling-Lab
      @Peter-Oxley-Modelling-Lab  Рік тому +1

      Thanks! So the tanks were achieved by 1) A primer then 2) Tamiya XF Yellow Green 3) AK Chipping fluid 4) Tamiya Extra Dark Sea Grey (Own mix) 5) dampen with water or X20A and very carefully scratch off desired amount with a cocktail stick! (Be conservative with this though: Less is more! )👍🏻

    Built the American version as I think I’ve said before. And yes it was a very similar experience. I also got the Eduard detail upgrade kit. I was so glad to get that kit done. And you did an awesome job with the kit. The models looks amazing.
    After mastering this kit. I suggest the Tamiya P 38. Just saying. It’s a joy to build

    Really hammered this one together in the end, Peter - looks stunning! Was getting PTSD flashbacks when I saw the first sprue pictures came up, I remember the naivety I had going into the build because it looked nice on the sprue!

      We all made that error Scott...as Obi-wan said in Star Wars Ep3: "We were all decieved by a lie." And I gave it 9/10 in the in-box review...😖 I will never live that one down! Thanks for the comment. ☺️

    Peter, it looks very good. I can’t wait until you review the Spitfire. I took a peak at other reviews and they are upset no engine. I give them a little bit of leeway because this is their first kit. 😊
