What just happened? | Dentex Shore Jigging

- This fish gives me goosebumps. Well, where to start. Dentex is definitely the most wanted, most beautiful & most precious fish you can catch while shore fishing in the Adriatic, especially while shore jigging. They don't happen really often but when they do, you must do everything in your power to land this amazing fish. Since I practice light shore jigging on dangerous rocky terrains (not recommended), I am not able to completely control the fish at the bottom so I need to be patient, smart & lucky to land it.
My rod is 20-60g 274cm Shimano Blue Romance with Daiwa BG 3500, 0.18mm Daiwa Tournament braid, and 0.33mm Seaguar FXR FC leader. Pretty light. Honestly, if this fish was 5+ kg I'm not sure what would happen. The fishing terrain is hostile with multiple underwater ridges and sharp rocks. It's a jig graveyard.
As you can see in the video (spoiler alert), it was a bite on the first cast, while the jig was falling and I was trying to figure out the braid loop sticking out on my spool from a previous fishing trip. Crazy! As soon as I felt the fish on the other side I knew it's Him. His Majesty, Dentex Dentex. Zubatac in Croatian. I got completely wet trying to gaff the fish and I was freezing for the rest of the day but I didn't care. I was so happy I would jump in the sea, although it's December and it's freezing outside! When we decide to keep the fish we use fishing gaff. I'm aware it doesn't look romantic at all but it's the only way.

What just happened...? Your were busy to unwrap your line because it was a bit tight from the last fight....and the jig accidentally fell into the mouth of a zubatac 🤣 awesome 👌
Hahaha. Even better. There was a braid loop on the spool, like a fake knot, so i removed half of the braid line off the spool on the rocks and while i was doing the the jig was falling straight into the dentex mouth 😂😂😂😂😂 so basically i did... Nothing 😂😂😂

Exactly. There was a braid loop on my spool, sticking out on drag knob from previous fishing trip so when i casted i started removing the braid from the spool straight on the rocks. As i was removing it something else was collecting it from the other side. He took the jig on the fall 😂🙏 Crazy!

Honestly, i would avoid it especially on rocky terrains like this. It's too thin. I just used it because i'm not normal. I would go for 0.45mm +. Yes, I rinse my fishing gear in fresh water after the fishing almost every time. Thank you very much buddy!
