I don't think it contributes that much :) while playing a bit I've noticed that your Sims' actions count a lot more than what you purchase in build/buy mode! I think that's actually pretty realistic
Some items give you more recycle points than other. Also you can totally find dyes in the trash cans! And I found the 14,000 simoleon fridge like twice. You can honestly make so much money with it haha
When in the industrial part of town it will quickly become neutral no matter the amount of items. It also makes it hard for some people to keep things smoggy.

oh thats cool, hello! and my eyes are broken they just work as non-defaults but all the other sims in my world don't have marvel's eyes... but i heard it was updated so i need to redownload them

All of the herbs, flowers, fruits, and veg can be used to make juice once you get to level two, so I would save it up and grow it!
