I can't believe I never knew the vertical planters are upgradable. My mind is blown. This is why I love yout videos. I always learn stuff about the game I didn't know.
Oddly enough, 2 days a go I was playing with one of my families who lives in San Myshuno in a large apartment. There was a knock at the door and my butler invited this girl in who introduced herself and had a gift for me. It was a hydroponic planter box. I have 6 sims in that house and I can't be sure of all of their traits. But I do know that gardening wasn't something they did in their apartment until now.
I did NOT know you could upgrade the vertical planters....BRB maxing my handiness skill RIGHT NOW! Also, Green Fiend sims will autonomously garden and always enjoy it. Even child sims with this trait hang out with the plants more, even Cowplants.
I never use the vertical planters because they always return my plants to seed piles after watering. I play vanilla and this has never been fixed since it came out! They don’t do that to the meat-which you are able to can (cottage living) so you can use it to make tofu recipes.
I was legit just thinking about that weird planter and looking for it like a crazy person thinking that i had dreamed the item even existed and was just insane! Thank you for saving my sanity and teaching me how to find and earn the planter!
The hydroponic planter turned up in B&B one day when I was using debug for a build; and I had no idea where it came from or how to unlock it. I was genuinely convinced it was a debug-only item that I wasn’t technically supposed to have access to. Now I know better…and just need to actually commit to unlocking it in at least one save.
I love it how these different skills boost each other. Logic and handiness boosts gardening. Gardening boosts cooking, gourmet cooking, mixology, alchemy, and nectar making. And fishing boosts both gardening and cooking. And these skills combined give powerful moodlets that boost other skills as well. @Petey: perhaps you're interested in making a video about how skills boost other skills.
I've been using vertical planters since Eco Lifestyle launched. And in a few saves I've made sure to get the hydroponic ones for my money trees. Eco Lifestyle is full of interesting details. But you have to play the game or you won't know it's there. Like the beetlejuice death. Or the massive craftable awnings.
BRB, need to make Gemma Charm (who's living with her non-binary wife and their science child on a ranch) become a green technician. That seems like it's a perfect match for their garden, horses, cow and mini-animals =)
It's been my experience that if you have the Green Thumb Trait (purchased from the Reward Store for 4000 Satisfaction Points) plants never require water after the first time, rendering the Hydroponic Planters obsolete.
It would be even better if EA could fix the problem with plants turning in to dirt piles when being watered or harvested or just randomly.. Plants can also randomly look dead but still bearing fruits/flowers..Or just completely stop evolving. It does not help with keeping them inside, plants are just broken. 💔 We are many players with this problem and it's been around for years but still no fix.. 😢 And before anyone ask I don't use mods and yes I have tried to "repair game".😊 I really wish EA would just fix this problem already😔
Wow, I didn't know about the hydroponic planter! I would like to see a video of this same theme but with the expansion pack "cottage living" Please. 🎉 nice video!
Balek :D, thank you for the kind comment! I kind of covered cottage living in my big gardening guide, and the section on cottage living is time stamped. Apologies maybe in hindsight I should have made it its own video.
Can you get the upgraded Planter and Faux Meat from the Gallery? Can one Sim gift it to another? Or do I need to have the career? And can you keep the abilities if you change careers?
Huh -- I've never tried using the vertical planters, so I had no idea about the upgrades for watering and pest control! That's pretty neat. :) And yes, the meat wall variant is weird, but isn't that why we play the Sims? For the weird? XD
Is there a way to get the meat wall on debug? Cuz I absolutely have the hydroponic planters by going into debug lol. But I really want the meat planter and haven't seen it in debug😩
It’s kind of wild that the option to grow synthetic meat is looked behind Green Technician instead of level 10 Gardening or some type of gardening challenge or vegetarian trait but the again, we are dealing with EA. 😂
Dear God, idk why i just can't wrap my mind around gardening. I don't get steps and process of plants growing, being harvested, what to do with it after and how to continue growing that plant without starting from a new packet of seeds... or is that how its supposed to be? I'm so confused. I wanna explore it so bad but I just don't get it and have very little patience dealing with plants. 😑
Not sure I understand your question. You can purchase seeds and plant them. When they grow, pick the produce. You can eat, cook or make juice out of the fruits. You can plant the actualy produce that you harvest as well. Rinse and repeat.
Does anybody have problems harvesting plants from the Eco Lifestyle Community Gardens? They should be able to be harvest, especially the ones that were planted by my Sims, but there's never anything I can pick.

His vids are the best! I always learn so much.
I didn't know about this either. I'm always learning something new on this channel.
Same! I was like “what”?!
I didn't know that too 😅

I love your videos! They are so informative and helpful!! I love that you do videos about older packs also!
Thank you so much for the kind comment Kacey, I really appreciate it! :D
Eco Lifestyle is my most favourite pack. It got so much things to do.
Very helpful info, thank you! I’m working on my Eco LP and I didn’t know that you can upgrade vertical planters!
Thanks! I keep forgetting about these items. 😋👍

I really liked this video! Showing the pack cross compatibility was super helpful 😊

I never even knew about hydroponic planters! Too bad their annoying to unlock, but still sounds worth it.
There’s cheats for that
You can use the ignore unlocks cheat to get it

EARLY OMGGG
I love your videos😍
Thank you so much Eva :D
I’d love to see you do a ranking of expansion and game packs bottom to top
Exactly what I needed!
I knew nothing of this!!

It's not in debug. It's an interaction with the wall planter.
I had a gardener sim get one of those planters from his garding career. Idk how else he would have gotten it. He wasnt in yhe eco career
P does the bees or the maggot farm does either one of those still help with gardening

That growing meat is kinda gross.
Who the hell talks like this
