I don't know if this is worth mentioning, but you can also use the num pad keys to get a jump to an outside view. But (unless I missed the obvious somehow) it seems to lock the view to a compass point rather than a specific view of the plane. So each time you press that key you probably get a slightly different view, depending on your heading.
Excellent. This was almost my Breaking point not being able to get my views sorted. I might actually get airborne this week once I have this beast configured.
Wonderful as always, Im so glad you started these X-plane videos, I bought it myself and i love it, I still use fsx for the big Jets but X-plane have so much that i desired from fsx for so long. Not to mention that it actually feels more like im flying a plane and not a rock with small wings like i do in fsx.
Thumbs up! I'm still debating if I should get X-plane 10, it is after all a more modern program (64 bit), its being continually developed and improved, whereas FSX is not - (...not really sure what am I waiting for now..lol....) These short videos and other X-plane video's you have made are a huge help. Thank you for making them. Please make more... :)
Hi Froogle, great video, I am currently in the process of moving over from FSX to X-plane, Xplane has totally blown me away, the only thing that i preferred about FSX was the way I could use the toggle switch on my Saiteck yoke to look around the 3D cockpit, is there any way I can set up xplane to do the same as I really dont like the idea of using the mouse?
Is there a command that can be assigned to a button which iterates through each preset view? Such as EzDoc has to go through all the views with left or right for example.
Hi Froogle, I hope you are very well. I have monitor and have setup on my graphic card the infinity mode to get one image on both screen but when I running XPLANE is show me two identical image. Could you tell me what I need to do Please? I have pictures but I couldnt attached. Thanks
Despite having x plane on my computer for probably about 18 months, I've not really used it regularly until the last few weeks. I find it a genuinely exciting platform now though (don't know what's clicked!). With a few simple (and 90% free) tweaks and tickles you can make it look utterly beautiful, and the flight dynamics are simply class leading. Anyway, I wondered whether it was worth doing a sort if beginner's essential extensions for xp10? It's a bit like FSX when after a few weeks of getting interested in it, a few must-haves start to emerge from research (ngx, active sky, ezdok, fs2crew etc). I'm kind of at that exciting stage with xp10 now and things that seem to be the pole bearers for this platform are things like that boeing you did a video on, skymaxx, aipilot's v2 mesh, terra haze Raleigh scattering plug-in, to name but a few. Realise it may be a lot of work but a video showing a sim being built up with these things being added in would be great at showing off just how far ahead it can get of fsx/p3d. I think the winds they are a changing with x plane :) Apologies for the essay
Hello Froogle,,watching your video on configuring view in X-Plane. I haven't been able to make the cockpit view changes you were making. Is that only available in payware aircraft, or were you demonstrating with one of the included planes? Tim
Tim Halstead Apologies - it is incredibly hard for me to reply to everyone and after seeing your message get approved it even took a while to dig through the videos and find it in order to reply. From the View menu, click on "Command Look". At that point you can move the camera as shown in the video.
+frooglesim Well Sir thanks for the video. I was anxious to try out the view presets functions but they did not seem to work. I followed your instructions.. From the 3D command view I positioned forward view where I wanted it. Then I press Ctrl 1. I moved the view to instruments then pressed Ctrl 2. Then I tested the views by pressing 1 and then 2. Nothing happens. The view does not change. Did I miss something? Please advise. Thank you.
i really like my pmdg in fsx, but after seeing the flight factor a350 i was drooling and gonna pick it up, do you have any tips for setting up xplane as far as addons ect....
Hi Froogle is x-plane worth buying? I have fsx but I didn't know whether to upgrade to xplane. is xplane worth buying rather than addons for fsx? I just wanted your feedback :) thanks nice vid
I believe so yes. However, it has a learning curve attached to it, a steep one that for many people looking to be babied into a new sim is simply too much. That's why I started work on these "X-Plane Short" videos, to help people over that curve. The demo is available for free from the site, so download it, follow these videos and try it out for yourself.
frooglesim also just another quick question for fsx, which plane should I go for, the b200 or the a2a 172, im heading toward 172 but just wanted to know what you think?
Hi Froogle ive just purchased X Plane 10 Global. At the moment Im a little disappointed. I know I dont have top spec processor only Intel Celeron 2.6 dual core onboard graphics with 8gb ram and no graphics card and running 64bit Windows 8.1,but I feel I should be getting better performance graphics wise or is it me that hasn't set it up right. I fly FSX quite often and compared to X Plane FSX is far superior graphics wise. Any tips would be appreciated. Excellent vids you put out by the way, big fan ! Keep up the good work
The challenge you're facing is that you are running FSX on hardware that 8 years ago would have been state of the art. That's around the time that FSX was at its peak and as a result you are getting great performance/results out of FSX. On the flip side you are trying to run a current generation simulator designed to grow into future hardware capabilities on a machine that was state of the art 8 years ago. It pains me to say it but without upgrading that processor and graphics card you are not likely to achieve good results from X-Plane 10. A similar situation exists for users of FS9 transitioning to FSX.
Thanks for the quick reply, in response to your advice what processor and graphics card would you recommend. I have a gigabyte mobo GA-H61M-DS2 DVI. The pc was a birthday present from my wife last year
I noticed you have some terrible screen tearing while panning around in the sim. Does that only happen while you are recording? If not I would seriously fix that as that could get annoying.
Ive hit a huge problem. I don't know what to do please help! So I accidentally messed up my views totally now the ctrl+numpad keys aren't working. I deleted my preferences and didn't help, what button exactly is the setting called in the XP10 settings?

I was wondering how you file a flight plan in xplane and then contact the air traffic control because I know it's a little bi different than FSX, which I am used too.
The part that frustrates me is that when i zoom back to get a good view of the flight deck - like in FSX, the pilot's seat headrest comes into the view. Can't seem to get around it.
I wonder if the newest X-Plane works properly with joysticks that report hats as axes. Last time the author said he won't be fixing this, because of his beliefs.
Not suggesting switching at all. I made a series of videos on the NGX because it's an amazingly detailed aircraft that most people at the time were missing the point on. Exactly the same thing applies to X-Plane. It's got a huge amount of depth to it that most people just don't discover and that puts them off using it. Hopefully these videos help. I believe if you're really into your sims you should run both platforms.
its a newer product, its 64bit, fsx (wich i use) will get old....its logic to look for newer sim, thats what ive tried to said, i know ur not pushing us to switch my only critic fo xplane stock planes they look antique...
X-Plane is probably the least user friendly PC program I've ever installed. Like Laminar Research isn't even going to recognize joystick/HOTAS set ups and give me an 8 way hat switch out of the box? Wtf? Guess I'll spend the next 12 hours configuring a playable FOV and control map.

I could hug you for this. Just made X-plane ten times better
+Jeremy Rendell LOL thanks - Glad you found it useful
I appreciate all your videos and am really glad you do X-Plane tutorials. I'm just getting into XP and have a lot to learn.
Love to see you get your hands and take command on the Saab 340A by X-Aviation.
A great old school study aircraft!
Froogle, you are the BEST!
Thumbs up!

Great Job, thanks for making it clear and easy!

What plane were you using? It looks very high quality. Thanks for the video btw :)
Carenado C90
Is there a command that can be assigned to a button which iterates through each preset view? Such as EzDoc has to go through all the views with left or right for example.
got my views set up now perfectly thanks very much
Glad it helped.
Can someone tell me what the button is to put it to full screen?
AH THIS is the video I have been looking for!

Apologies for the essay
Oh and also world2xplane which looks a bit like some sort of free ftx global/ vector
Nice video froogle thank you!!!
When I hold down Ctrl+1 to save my view it defaults to the outside view Linear Spot.
Am I missing something? Love the channel Thanks Froogle.
Gr8 video,Do you use Track IR?
Yes, but not in this video
Hi Pete and thanks. Can I ask you please what the COA makers are for?
Are those custom views stored per aircraft?
WORKS IN X-PLANE 11 AS WELL THANKS!!!

it did not work for me
hey great video , can u tell me the default key for rudders?
IT WORKS!!! THANKS
Just got X-Plane today and the flight factor 757, time to learn :D

MoreBBProductionz Both are amazing, all depends which kind of aircraft you want to fly.
***** thanks the advice is greatly appreciated, so would you say xplane instead of fsx addons?
nice video, but im having some isssues about the views becouse i cant move them.. so any key to lock them or what..

It is because of the hardware capture card used to capture the video.
Ive hit a huge problem. I don't know what to do please help! So I accidentally messed up my views totally now the ctrl+numpad keys aren't working. I deleted my preferences and didn't help, what button exactly is the setting called in the XP10 settings?

+Greg S Number pad numbers - not normal numbers. The numbers at the far right hand side of the keyboard
+frooglesim My keyboard does not have a number pad.
+frooglesim What if you don't have pad numbers on your laptop?
+frooglesim I see. Well my keyboard has no number pad. Can program other keys to show these views?
No idea. Many have a function key to turn on a number pad style function - maybe that would work?
Could you drag a view in another monitor like the instruments?
I was wondering how you file a flight plan in xplane and then contact the air traffic control because I know it's a little bi different than FSX, which I am used too.
I just use Pilot Edge.
The part that frustrates me is that when i zoom back to get a good view of the flight deck - like in FSX, the pilot's seat headrest comes into the view. Can't seem to get around it.
please can you tell me the name of the plane and where i can find it
So how would this work on a Mac without a number pad?
Don't know - presumably there are different key bindings for the mac?
If it doesn't work, try pressing "Num Lock" on the number pad to activate number mode.
Are you going to do a video on fs2crew for the majestic dash 8 q400?
I did livestream it the day of release. I will probably do a series on it at some point but can't tell you when.
Oh ok thanks!! I love your videos!
I wonder if the newest X-Plane works properly with joysticks that report hats as axes. Last time the author said he won't be fixing this, because of his beliefs.
I've not had trouble but haven't specifically looked into that issue.'
froogle is sugesting switching,,,,seems logical but we need good airplanes like the duke or the be200 the stock baron looks from 1800....
Not suggesting switching at all. I made a series of videos on the NGX because it's an amazingly detailed aircraft that most people at the time were missing the point on. Hi, When I click 3D cockpit command, I get an outside view with no panel.
I can see the panel when flying the cessna, but not the 777????
X-Plane is probably the least user friendly PC program I've ever installed. Like Laminar Research isn't even going to recognize joystick/HOTAS set ups and give me an 8 way hat switch out of the box? Wtf? Guess I'll spend the next 12 hours configuring a playable FOV and control map.
Roger on the least friendly!! Isit possible to program a joystick hat switch??
nice introduction
Throw do I do it on Mac
Cant do it for some reason can you help me please
How can i reset the views?
Im on the laptop without the NUM pad.... great
FOR THOSE WHO CAN'T MAKE IT WORK, MAKE SURE YOU HAVE YOUR "NUM LOCK" KEY DEACTIVATED ON YOUR KEYBOARD :)
ac
Sorry, should have used NUMBER Pad Doughhh!
Glad you figured it out.
Tequila?
Lol
