i always like your technical improvement videos for all type of sim so far, You are explaining all important edges without talking/adding unnecessary explanations , it is a absolute collage level teaching , i feel like listening you in the Auditorium about physics ) , thank you very much for every minute you effort for us with FSX, P#D, X_plane video's to learn correct way to work on our sim's .
Love your videos! I find them very informative and fun to watch! I just wanted to ask if you have any experience with the LOD setting provided with Real Terra Haze for FlyWithLua? I found that for my system with a GTX 570 and a i7 4770k @ 4GHz + 16GB RAM : a LOD of @0.25 worked fine for me :) but if I go into bigger cities such as NYC or even Oslo, I get really poor frame rates. 15 FPS or below (tested with W2XPL HD Mesh V3 and the JARDesign A320) My texture resolution is set to High.
I'm still working on that part. In the main, it seems to be about the same but then, under certain circumstances, it can fall appreciably. I'm just trying to iron these out.
Great video! And just what I needed right now! But I just wonder which graphics card you have because you seem to get better frames than me and I´m on a GTX 750TI gaming edition
Hi, I am missing 2 importent background information. First what plugins you had while making this video and second what sceneries add-ons you had ( like Apilotex w2xp ...) or you used only the X-Plane world scenery?
Thanks for the video friend, I just subsribed to you, looking forward to your videos, thanks, I have 2 things to say: 1. The fps depend also on the scenery, the airport, the aircraft....If you have 35fps on default Albequerque scenery you will probably get 20fps or even less on the famous LA scenery (KLAX) 2. I´ve experienced that when you have the framerate onsole on top left of the sreen, you get less fps, am I right? Thanks for the video m8!!!!!
Hello sir, really like your videos, it is well explaned!! I have been watching your videos for months now, and subscribed on your channel. I just got my copy of xplane 10, I like it but I need some help on the view functions. I am used to ezdok on fsx. I was wondering how you switch from views in your cockpit and outside of any aircraft like it is possible on ezdok? And also about the traffic, everytime I load a flight, I only see 2 or 3 aircrafts. Do I have to go into an option to change that?
+ibeidari Thanks for your kind comments. XPlane 10 has EZdok type functionality built in. Just position the camera as you want it and then push [Ctrl]+[Num0] - [Num9] This sets the camera. To activate it, just push the Num key you selected. As I recall, if you go through the settings in XPlanbe 10, there is a way to set the number of aircraft. Or, if you prefer add-ons, you may wish to look at World Traffic for XPlane
I don't know if you solved the ruder pedal issue, but I have a £2 solution. I had exactly the same issue except on a laminated floor. I was aware that there was a tape that was supposed to stop rugs/mats creeping on carpet so I went to my local carpet shop. They didnt have tape but had a fleece type fabric 1 metre wide and sold by the foot, don't ask. I bought a foot, cut it in half and placed 1 part under my pedals. They have not moved since. 😊
Thanks for the info. Are you using the EZDock camera program? Can't find another way to move around the cockpit in a smooth fast manner. Also I start in a gate but can't get out of it, so I have to start on the runway.
+Ahmon83 It's the JAR Design A330. I have a series of five videos covering a full review of the product available here : ua-cam.com/play/PL9vqJE7GO6WvOq4VH7Mhh_RSj2URheYsW.html
I have i5 4670 non k at 3.8 with turbo boost all the time, on ssd installed, 16 gb ram ddr3 and amd rx470 4gb. I can't approach your graphics. thinking that i'm doing something wrong. I don't play on full screen but I don't think that is a problem. what's your opinion aboutmy system for xplane?
.......another great video MrCobolman. Thank you for sharing! I had very similar rendering set up to yours, except the full screen mode; I cannot record the screen my screen gets locked to X-Plane. I use windows 8.1 pro and Apowersoft free screen record program. Any idea what might be? Many thanks
Doesn't this show that these Big Birds aren't sensible unless you have high end super computers? How will you load weather and traffic on top, or extreme Airports?
Hi Guys, this is an awesome Simulator but still couldn't manage how to get clearance from any airport to approach and land or touch and go. As far I was told ATC will stay with you until you’re near your arrival airport. They will provide vectors to your approach (visual/ILS) and then they will issue you a landing clearance and allow you to continue as long as the runway is safe to use. I took off from KSNA to land in KLAX by filing a plan but whenever I got close to KLAX I kept getting ATC messages to climb 200, which I did and kept flying around the airport but wasn't sure how to get that clearance, so I landed without clearance and violated the ATC approach. Please if anyone can help me out how does it work, I will be appreciate it very much. Thanks very much
I just re-viewed your video on X-Plane settings where you said that you "need" HDR rendering. I'm sorry if the following is teaching grandma to suck eggs but I'd like to make clear what HDR means. It does not, as some seem to think, High Definition Rendering, but neans High Dynamic Range. The phase comes originaly from film photograph and refers to the dynamic range of film. All film had a range of ability to record light from the brightest to the darkests parts of the subject. Any detail in the darkest and brightest areas was lost. With digital photography came the ability to extend that range using techniques that I shall not go into here to extend that dynamic range and retain the missing detail. That is what brings down the frame rate as your graphics card has to render all that extra detail. It does not increase the picture resolution as some seem to think.
Robert Langford Thanks for the extra info! ps: It's not me that says you have to use HDR - it's JAR Designs for their A330. I'll try to be clearer next time.
MrCobolman For me I would say it improves my flight sim experience a tiny bit. I think it makes the horizon look way more real than the default one, but I can agree with you. There is one other question too though, and that is: why is my plane always going either left or right when the terrain is completely flat and theres no wind whatsoever and all my controllers are calibrated. this seems to happen in the air too ... (Update: Fuel tanks are also same on both sides of the aircraft, Center of Gravity seems to be good too ...)
MrCobolman Thanks for the help man, I will check it out when I got the time :) btw you know this G2XPL video you made. Its great but, you said I should donate to the author of the application. I did this, waited a couple of days no email received, I sent him a PM message on the X-Plane Forum and even an email. He just left the conversation and I still haven't seen any emails ...
For those who don't have rudders for X-Plane - X-Plane does have a simple auto-coorinate but it only works IF you have NO flight controls (even a joystick) plugged in. The Fix for this is a free add-on called X-Coordinate found here- it adds a new auto-coordinate system that works.: forums.x-plane.org/index.php?/files/file/15906-x-coordinate-linmacwin3264/ You can get the free demo of X-Plane and use the x-coordinate add-on with it before you buy.
shahaan gujral Too many variables for me to advise. Simply a case of experimenting to see what works for you. Generally though, graphics cards on laptops are nowhere near as performance as desktop systems
It's very simple. I've been working with flight sims for many years and built them for my self and several customers. so here's how it goes 1-SSD , 2-MB that allows for higher frequency memory & OC features in general 3-Intel i7 ( 6700k) 4-The best graphics card you can afford! do your research because not every card will be able to maximize it's full capabilities with the build and features. I've gotten excellent performance over the years from both Nvidia and AMD! it just was dependent upon how i set it up
Dean Robinson Hi Dean I agree and that's exactly what I had tried prior to recording the video. However, the anti-aliasing was so poor, I decided the trade off just wasn't worth it for me.
MrCobolman hi, yes i see how that happened. i, like you i guess, prefer decent fps over eye candy. my preference is min 25fps, ideal 35+. happy flying.
MrCobolman hah, I've a perverted mind. Anyway good video, the main problem I have with XP performanceis the loading times. It takes bloody forever on my old regular spinny HDD. I should really invest in an SSD.
there is no real way to improve frame rate. The only way to get decent frame rate is to fly with no background, no objects and the very minimal settings. The only other alternative is to buy an extremely expensive computer. These people posting on youtube are using systems costing in the tens of thousands of dollars. If you aren't using a water cooled 8ghz processer with at the very least 64 gigs of ram and a 4 ghz water cooled card, you aren't getting any more than 8 fps. that's just how x plane is. It is designed for the absolute newest computers, and when you install x plane 11, you better expect to replace the computer in order for it to run. Any graphics card running less than 4 ghz will not ever get you started. and that one better have at least 12 gigs of ram on the video card.

Thank you so much for this ! I really need to play around with these settings. I realized the drop in FPS after I purchased the A330.
You're welcome. Thanks for stopping by.
Lol, love the technical description of 'clunky' graphics :-) Really useful video, thanks.
flightsim481 Thanks, Rich. I just couldn't think of the right word. That's the trouble with a 'live', unrehearsed recording (as we know!) :)

MrCobolman Whilst I think about it, what was the outcome fps wise once the cockpit systems were up and running?
I'm still working on that part. In the main, it seems to be about the same but then, under certain circumstances, it can fall appreciably. I'm just trying to iron these out.

can this run decent eye candy in 900p or 1080p on a gtx 650 ti?
how did you enable the fps bar?
Running this game in a triple monitor setup at 6480 x 1080p with a R9 290 and an AMD FX 9590... still fight frames issues.

Difficult to say why your aircraft still moves. My first guess would be to check the dead zone on your joystick - maybe make it a little larger.

I got a 4GB graphics card and even if i get it all the way down to 171meg i wont get over 35 fps.. What can i do?
Try turning down / off the resource hogs like HDR, terrain and cloud detail, etc.
What about processor and RAM?
i got 15 FPS on medium graphics and 15 FPS on lowest grapgics in X plane....why ?
You need a better PC probably
when you turned on HDR you left it set to 8 x (max). surely you should have started at 2x unless you own a NASA kelvin-cooled super computer.
