Hi, great sounds you’re getting. I’m trying to do what you’re doing, but having connectivity issues. Got everything connected like you do but not able to get the sq-1 to trigger anything. Can you please help me?
For the life of me I cannot get them to work, the SQ-1 outputs MIDI well to my computer, but when I connect to the NTS1 its simply doesn't trigger anything, honestly I'm desperate I might return them both
I wanted to see the SQ1 sequence played with Arp setting on the NTS. Will it trigger arpegiated notes with the arp tempo coming from the NTS, separate from note triggering tempo of the SQ?!
The 5 pin Midi din plug that we know about only uses three wires for the connection. The centre ( earth)and the two pins left and right of it. The trs plug is a stereo plug so the earth midi wire goes to the sleeve and the other two go to the tip and the ring of the trs plug. Thats how we get midi going to a trs plug. Cheers
Yes. The SQ-1 actually comes with a 3.5” MIDI Break-Out cable, so the one you “have lying around” may even be the very same? I’m a little new to all this, but I think I’ve heard there can be different polarities with MIDI, not sure what problems can arise?
There's a patch for this thing called Ruismaker and it's a drum machine with a sequencer. There's also a patch that emulates the Volca Bass' 3 oscillators. You can definitely make a track with a single NTS.
The NTS-1 is amazing! I’ve found it can be a little glitchy, and I’ve even had it get stuck in a loop, this so far only seems to be when you are looping an arp with a lot of delay ...and it’s only happened a couple of times. That being said, please see this as just the NTS-1’s “character”, don’t let it put you off getting one, it really sounds glorious. You can download loads of Oscillators and FX to it. Korg have already patched it since release, and I’m sure they will continue to do so for sometime, at least until any wrinkles have been ironed out. GET ONE!
Kevin Brotherton NTS-1 is a little digital unit. If you know how to code you can make it do anything you want though including mimicking a moog oscillator and ladder filter.
Is there any way to stop it from sending MIDI out when using it through USB? I'm sequencing it with my OP-Z using USB and a powered hub, but everytime I tweak parmeters on the NTS-1 it will send the CC signal back to the OP-Z, and I don't want to disable midi in on it because I use an external keyboard too.
So good that Korg took out the red lights of the NTS1. So bad i already purchased the "old" one 🙃 and 2 Doritos later Korg came up with the new one. The law of life. The SQ1 needs esthetic modernization also. I have a SQ1 but i am new to it. I am wondering how i am gonna know the tempo of the sequence. In fact i am a semi beginner musician. ✌️ i use to own a Micro Korg ... i think in 2005... then from like 2006 till 2023 no music life in my life. .....NEVERMIND... just want to say i like Korg products are awasome but the esthetics are sometimes: EWW!!!.... have a Minilogue DX (desktop) and look SUPER nice. Red lights gives me MIGRANE ✌️ and make products look cheap and from World War 1. 🤣. At the end of the day what matters is what is on the inside. But when spending a lot of time in front of an instrument, it is also important the 'esthetiques'.
All I need is these two little things together and I could kick out awesome ambient beats for hours?! So cool. Must have.
It's an amazing little synth. Real nice for just grabbing it and messing around.
Soon h/w synthesizers will be so small you can only control them with tweezers.

Roland has already reached this point
Man, I can't wait to run my Go:Piano or my Volca Bass through that NTS-1, those FX sound delicious.
Haha. Just came from your video
@@robguitarwizard haha nice!
5:48 had me sold!
nice! powerful combo
Please god. Update the SQ-1 so it can have pattern chaining.
SQ-1 and NTS-1 just good friends!
I have both of these machines ....very very kool

Make sure the midi cable is stereo
Just use the nts1 arp bro
Great demo thanks! Still waiting for my order, NTS-1 still not available in the Netherlands.
March 15ish according to a very helpful person @ tonecontrol who immediately called the supplier when I informed about it.
@@OttosTheName Week 9 according to Bax. We'll see, thanks for the reply.
@@ghavinga gearformusic keeps delaying my order with a few days. Guess I'll get it in March then, haha.

what? it has a shimmer reverb?
It's called riser
This is one of those you will have to record at the spur of the moment. I'm afriad this carries no save patches mode.
Brandon Heat pricey soul attribute!!!
Anyone care to speculate what the next kit in the NuTekt line will be?
multi engine eurorack please
私のスマホでもハッキリ分かる音の良さ!
Hey ! does anyone know how to change the root note to korg sq1?
beatZavod did you find out? please tell.
very nice! you can use toghether a p.o.12 and make dub techno and other...
Be honest Korg, this is a stupidly awesome bit of kit for the coin, what’s the catch?
mj hobo the catch is you’ll never be able to do it justice
made by children in china
AdventureVanMan, given that it’s essentially just a pcb, it’s likely assembled by a pick’n’place robot with minimal human interaction.
It has no memory to save patch
No way to save a patch
Hi there. Is there any way to factory reset the sq1 please?
Why would you use the SQ-1 like that while you can do the same with the random mode arpeggiator of the NTS-1? it boogles the mind.
I wanted to see the SQ1 sequence played with Arp setting on the NTS. Will it trigger arpegiated notes with the arp tempo coming from the NTS, separate from note triggering tempo of the SQ?!
@Pablo Rodríguez it responds with sq1... even cooler if you latch the arp button
Cool how you can midi these with a trs cable!

so...I have a spare sq1 1/8" to midi adapter laying around--that should work to connect it to other hardware via midi, no?
Yes.

Come on Korg stop teasing us and get some in the shops.
They are in the shops? Multiple people have gotten theirs already and mine is currently shipping.
@@HotStrange sadly not in the UK. I heard mid March mentioned...
seems like it’d be really hard to make an entire track with just these.
True, though one option would be to make a much slower sequence.

You can definitely make a track with a single NTS.
Can you store patch/s on the NTS-1 ?
I'd guess it has some limited on board memory and primarily functions with a software library for the bulk of storage. Like the XD or Prologue.
Probably not. I am still trying to figure this out.
No but it can use custom oscillators and effects.
There are a couple of 3rd party editors, worth checking out

Korg .... what have the uk done to you? Nts has Never been available in uk.
Hey wul01, you can pre order on AMZN for delivery 21st of Feb ;o)
What fun! From such a small kit. Even Robert Moog would be delighted! Analogue for the masses.
Kevin Brotherton NTS-1 is a little digital unit. If you know how to code you can make it do anything you want though including mimicking a moog oscillator and ladder filter.
MIDI is also a digital protocol. Nothing there is analog, actually
Good,✌️
the majority of this can be done without the sq1 using the nts-1 arp feature
