Also, this guy makes it entertaining, so there's a plus. "If you happen to have a USB-C to USB-C cable, your switch can charge your Macbook. But don't do this, because that's real dumb."
Just FYI for everyone. The switch uses an LCD display. A dark theme on an LCD display will actually use more energy than a light theme. LCD's are lit via a backlight which the LCD needs to block out in order to display black/dark colors. Using a dark mode on an LCD means that more pixels need to be activated in order to block out the backlight, thus increasing energy usage. Dark themes are most beneficial for OLED displays where each pixel will emit its own light. When each pixel is emitting light rather than a backlight, then a dark mode will reduce the number of pixels emitting light, and thus reduce energy usage. Some fancy HDR LCD TVs have many positional backlights that they dim for dark regions of the picture which theoretically may reduce energy usage, but I highly doubt the switch does this. If you want to save battery on your switch, don't use dark mode. Just decrease the brightness of the screen (backlight). Update: The new OLED Switch’s battery life should benefit from using dark mode!

To anyone that wants to buy their games digitally, that's all fine and dandy. Just know if you do that, you don't actually own the game. All you have done is purchased the right to download and play the game. If something happens to your switch or if you break or loose your SD card, you lose your games. Not a huge problem right now as you can re download them, but someday Nintendo will no longer support the Switch and shut down the servers. When that happens you will no longer have access to your games. For me personally, one of the best experiences of a new game is holding it in my hand, looking at the artwork on the box, ripping off the plastic and opening it. Can't beat that new game smell. Zhab80 its always a bad choice to go 100% digital unless you're playing on pc When you buy a game physically, you're buying the game. When you buy a game digitally, you're buying the right to download and play the game rather than the game itself. This means this right can be revoked in the future. If you delete the game and its later removed from the marketplace, you can no longer download and play that game. Its gone forever. If you buy a game physically, no one is coming to your house to take that game away from you.
Me and my friends and cousins were the "quarantine" age of Switch users. And we all just marveled how awesome it is for people who just need to chill put and play a console that you can bring around the house and the ease of downloading games from the store (as long as you have a good micro sd).

I have heard that Zelda botw has better fps in flight mode. because the console doesn't use extra resources on searching for wifi signal and Zelda has therefore less fps-drops. Until Nintendo fixes this problem with a system update, I would recommend turning on flight-mode when playing Zelda.
www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-2017-zelda-breath-of-the-wild-uses-dynamic-resolution-scaling "In the meantime, we've seen this intriguing report about WiFi potentially impacting Switch performance. While this could possibly affect some users, we've quickly retested a few Switch titles in flight mode and we're finding that this has no impact on our existing results. However, developer Shin'en Multimedia has highlighted a firmware issue that may improve performance and cut some dynamic resolution drops on its title - Fast RMX. We'll report back on any improvements in a future system software update once it rolls out."
I actually decided to make the Switch my first physical collection device. Well, if you don't count older consoles where physical was the only option. Why? I never liked collecting disks. So easy to scratch, show signs of use right away. Cartridges seem to last forever. Better for collecting/resale. Switch game also have small boxes. It just seems like a good match. As an added bonus, Nintendo first party games at least don't seem to depreciate in value much. Also my carrying case comes with slots for games and also the onboard memory sucks.

I love my Pro controller! When I first got my Switch, I kept accidentally crouching in Zelda, especially during combat. The Pro controller was supposedly less sensitive, so I bought one. Not only did it eliminate the accidental-crouching problem, but I just like it better in general.
I just wanted to mention that the joycon straps have a little white tab near where the actual straps are. Just flip that down and they slip right off, that’s why it’s easy to push the little things in when you were talking about how to get them off, that’s because they are attached to the little white tab... it gets locked on there SO IT DOESNT FLY OFF WHILE YOU ARE PLAYING. if you read this, I hope it improves YOUR switch experience.
If you're gonna get a portable power bank you're gonna want to get the PD USB Type C RAVPower 26800mAh Power Bank. Since it supports PD same as the switch and has a type C input you can get a charge as fast as having it in the wall charger if you use a type c to c cable. Other portable power banks especially ones without a type c input won't charge it very fast.
Just a quick note on dark mode on the switch It DOES NOT save on battery for any of you wondering cuz it’s an LED where all pixels are emoting a color/light for say and unlike OLED displays which turn off individual pixels when displaying the color black for example.
If you need more than 128 GB it's probably cheaper to buy multiple 128 GB sd cards. 200 GB and 256 GB are so expensive! I wonder when we will see 2 TB cards that Nintendo promises the Switch will support. It would probably be super expensive though...
Thanks for the tip about the dark theme - aside from battery savings the white screen was just WAY too bright for my eyes so the black is so much more comfortable to look at.
I have been keeping my switch digital and physical console in terms of games, I like the convenience of digital games however I can often get games a LOT cheaper as physical copies, generally no sales or drop in prices digitally but there’s always physical sales on games and 2nd hand games that work perfectly fine etc, means I save money which in turn means I buy more games 😁

The joy cons do have a locking mechanism There is a small lever at the bottom That you need to pull when you're going to release it, But if you slide in the risk strap backwards of course it might jam
I would go digital... if I could sell them if I change my mind..... and my husband and I share games, so digital isn't a cost effective way for us both to play the same games.
Going digital sounds like a good idea on paper but on switch id rather have a bag full of games next to me because either the games take up counties worth of size in storage and/or you always need to have an internet connection to play most digital games
OK people I got a switch case hack. this is for the people who think that the price of the real case is highway robbery. OK. to start out get a big piece of cloth (at least 3 times as big as the switch WITH the joy cons). place the switch onto a corner and outline it with a maker. do that once more right above your current outline. cut both of the outlines (together) and fold it over the switch. if the size is correct, here is the next step. make another outline of your switch, put the fabric over your switch on one of the halves of the past fold. glue the 3rd fabric square and you have a pocket to hold your switch. just use some strong tape to be able to seal the fabric case, and you have made your own switch case! this is just a hack I came up with when I found out the price for the case. I hope you random people looking in the comments enjoy the fabric case for your switch that is very easy to make!
there should be third party ones. Joycons have been a thing since like the 90s where 3rd party people designed some interesting concepts. I seem to recall ps1 and pc have gotten controllers like this that ive seen

Just got mine and I haven't slept since. My bed misses me. Btw thanks for the Salsa tip. Made eating cartridges that much better. Only issue is that I don't have any games to play with so I guess I'll be buying new ones.
Witcher john Well, many people believe that purchasing a digital game is more like renting it since you "can't have it on your hands" so if something happens to the developer or if the eShop closes then you may not have access to those games anymore. I wouldn't say that you are "renting the game" unless we speak about sony but both formats have their advantages/disadvantages.
you dont have to take a knife to unlock you wrist straps if you put them on backwards, their is a white lever that unlocks it where the strap connects to the plastic.
A) if you have guardian arrows, one in the eye is all you need. B) 2-handed power weapon & death spin. Take out the legs easy. C) Master Sword & START HACKING LIKE A MADMAN!!! D) shield deflect the Death Ray. My timing is Shit AF, but it can be done.

This means this right can be revoked in the future. If you delete the game and its later removed from the marketplace, you can no longer download and play that game. Its gone forever. If you buy a game physically, no one is coming to your house to take that game away from you.
Magical Constructs But later you can not Sale the game
@Magical Constructs you don't have to explain that kind of thing to me.
Here from Bob's design portfolio site. Hi Bob, congrats on 10 years. Sincerely, another designer.
Did NOT know I could permanently show battery percentage in settings THANK YOU!!
Me and my friends and cousins were the "quarantine" age of Switch users. And we all just marveled how awesome it is for people who just need to chill put and play a console that you can bring around the house and the ease of downloading games from the store (as long as you have a good micro sd).
Sandisk 200GB is $40!!! Hurry get it

I personally don't recommend the salsa for the cartridge's get some peanut butter instead it tastes better
ParaNoki 💀💀💀😂😂😂😂😂
ParaNoki 😂😂😂
I dip mine in chocolate. Covers up the shit flavor.
Peanut butter? Dats wack bro, I use sriracha
The damn fish interfering with my joycon connection again.
You don't dip your carts into salsa! You swoop and scoop. Remember, this next time. Swoop then scoop for the best carts and salsa experience. I'm just lookin' out for you, man.
Also remember to lick the carts for optimal taste.
I was hoping to see a salsa shark 🧐
its also a good idea to play the games with your eyes closed for a minute or two just to feel the hd rumble. its a great experience.
Uhm.... You can't feel things with your eyes open? You should probably go see a doctor.
@@Krytern well i hope that this wasnt a joke (BUT IF IT WAS TELL ME) but when you close your eyes you can feel the other senses more
Bomberman worth $50, I don't fucking think so.
He said $20 For Bomberman it was $50 for 1 2 Switch.
Nope, google it, bomber man is $50 It was the snipperclips game that was $20.
Yea, no way. Way too expensive.
Haha hell no 😭
I don't think bomberman was ever worth that much ever before.
After 4years i finally have a switch

I bought a switch three years ago and for some reason here I'm three years later watching this video again
I have heard that Zelda botw has better fps in flight mode. because the console doesn't use extra resources on searching for wifi signal and Zelda has therefore less fps-drops. Until Nintendo fixes this problem with a system update, I would recommend turning on flight-mode when playing Zelda.
www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-2017-zelda-breath-of-the-wild-uses-dynamic-resolution-scaling
"In the meantime, we've seen this intriguing report about WiFi potentially impacting Switch performance.

Amen. Also, the digital cost of games are so much more
Exactly, you could probably fit 30 carts in one pocket and just buy them used cheaper.
And if Nintendo removes the game from the shop and u don’t have it hard copy you won’t be able to play it because they remove it from ur device
There are a lot of indie/retro games that are only available in the online shop.
@@declanquandt4831 They remove your copy that you've downloaded to your own storage? Wtf that's like taking your money and running. Just got my console. I'll have to remember that
Been having major syncing issues with my joy con, switch is behind tv, where there’s a huge mass of cables, near my fish tank & router - I am not joking 😂 tips are much appreciated
Did moving it fix your issues?
@@Krytern the world may never know if it fixed his problems XD
@@DarkBloodMoon84 Yeah seems it will forever be a mystery of the internet.
Why the hell would you keep your fishes BEHIND the TV?
Stefan Constantin Dumitrache why would you comment on a 2 year old comment ?
I love my Pro controller! When I first got my Switch, I kept accidentally crouching in Zelda, especially during combat. The Pro controller was supposedly less sensitive, so I bought one. Not only did it eliminate the accidental-crouching problem, but I just like it better in general.
I'm just here for the comedic reviews about Video Games tbh.
Thanks Wulff Den. This is now my 2017 XMAS gift to myself.
Im finnaly gonna get one this friday after 3 yrs :> super happy rn
just got mines a week ago
Ayy congrats
Just a quick note on dark mode on the switch
It DOES NOT save on battery for any of you wondering cuz it’s an LED where all pixels are emoting a color/light for say and unlike OLED displays which turn off individual pixels when displaying the color black for example.
"Just dip the cartridge in some salsa!" Great idea my favorite one 😂
If you need more than 128 GB it's probably cheaper to buy multiple 128 GB sd cards. 200 GB and 256 GB are so expensive! I wonder when we will see 2 TB cards that Nintendo promises the Switch will support. It would probably be super expensive though...
At one point we would bassicaly pay another switch
hello aincent comment
my advice: get a 400gb on Amazon Black Friday, is relatively cheap
@@Crusty783 I'd argue that my advice was valid 4 years ago but now I myself have upgraded from my 128 GB card to a 400 GB one.
Honestly, since I'm considering buying a Nintendo switch I have been looking around the Internet for some tips and tricks, and you my friend have been the best one! I just love your voice, it's perfect for UA-cam. Your video layout of information is so simple but informative and of course, your information is super helpful! So thanks for this great video!
Im planning on buying the newer Nintendo Switch and this dude makes me want it so much more
Who else is watching this in 2020 still waiting for a switch to have
“So you just got a switch”
😅 uhhh yeah... totally...
The joy cons do have a locking mechanism There is a small lever at the bottom That you need to pull when you're going to release it, But if you slide in the risk strap backwards of course it might jam
"Get some multiplayer games to show to your friends" i have no friends
Well get some friends
I would go digital... if I could sell them if I change my mind..... and my husband and I share games, so digital isn't a cost effective way for us both to play the same games.
Going digital sounds like a good idea on paper but on switch id rather have a bag full of games next to me because either the games take up counties worth of size in storage and/or you always need to have an internet connection to play most digital games
Can you make a "how to afford an actual Nintendo switch" too?
It's called "get a job"
@@joshgiannini1804 hahahaha! Hell yes it is, they are not that expensive!
@@medbal2989 well in some countries, the Nintendo switch is almost 10 times the price in usa.
Graeme Hepoenstall I don't have a switch but this sounds sick.
jackalot irl vids neither do I but I just thought that this hack would work for people who do have a switch

Came here to say this, you beat me to it.
How long do you think until someone has the joycons be able to work on pc?
Top Dawg I think they work on a PC out of the box. I know the Pro Controller does and I'm sure they do, too.
yeah they work out of the box according to gamespot, or was it IGN?
They work now
pro controller and joycon work but no amiibo nfc or gyro on pc and android for the moment (need drivers)
there should be third party ones. Joycons have been a thing since like the 90s where 3rd party people designed some interesting concepts. I seem to recall ps1 and pc have gotten controllers like this that ive seen
I quite enjoy 1-2 Switch I’m fourteen, and I get a lot of enjoyment out of it, playing it with my cousins.
I just got Zelda breath of the wild and I loveeeee it!
Dark mode won't save battery. The backlight is at the same brightness either way.
but it saves your eyes
I've always wanted to get this system when it was released, but they were so limited in quantity that it just lost my interest of buying it.
Now the hype is back and surely am getting one. These are great tips to get the most out of your system. Thanks for the vid
Who else never gets a switch from their parents but still watches videos like this

for a sec I thought you were talking about bomberman and was like "woahwhat"
Why yes I am loving Zelda. Every session I am amazed by something new and surprising. My sweaty nostalgic hands are ready for some Mario Kart, Metroid Prime, DK Country etc you know how it is.
The dark team doesn't make a difference because it's not an OLED screen, so everything fires up anyways
But the aesthetic is so much better

Btw thanks for the Salsa tip. Made eating cartridges that much better. Only issue is that I don't have any games to play with so I guess I'll be buying new ones.
Good luck renting your games instead of buying them. We'll be over here, still playing them in 10 years.
lets be honest, you're not gonna play those games in 10 years...
Inspire the Liars I will be I still play games from my nes
what do you mean by renting?
Witcher john Well, many people believe that purchasing a digital game is more like renting it since you "can't have it on your hands" so if something happens to the developer or if the eShop closes then you may not have access to those games anymore.
I wouldn't say that you are "renting the game" unless we speak about sony but both formats have their advantages/disadvantages.
Inspire the Liars I still play my ds lite...
But when you have the games in there cases you can sell them when you don’t use them and then buy a new game
you dont have to take a knife to unlock you wrist straps if you put them on backwards, their is a white lever that unlocks it where the strap connects to the plastic.
I have been playing Zelda on my Wii U and man is it fun! finally found out how to kill those damn guardians!
I'm currently trying to figure out how to destroy those red rocks in Eldin. I've been at it for 3 hours now.
Red Rocks? Where Yunobo is at?
As soon as you get the hang of it guardian s are easy to kill.
D) is the best method, AND if you turn the sound up right before the ray fires you hear a *ding*. Right as you hear the ding, put your shield up!
