Louis Theroux is one of the best journalists in the world. He's one of the last honest, real, unbiased journalists whose only goal is to give his viewers the truth.
If you haven't watched any of Louis' documentaries, start with the Westboro Baptist Church documentary and follow the rabbit hole. Louis has this way of trolling people without being too obvious.
Internet Police in an odd way sometimes he is very blatant with hanging shit, he just does it when he knows his subject is much too stupid to understand. Like when he corrected that dude about Jesus being a Jew.
Hearing Louis speak always gives me the warm feeling of hanging out with a friend...that is pretty special. I get a similar feeling from Ricky Gervais, Louis CK and Brian Cox, too.
I read an article interviewing Tom Cruise a few years ago, and it was pretty favorable, the reporter went to one of his homes and told what they spent the day doing, etc. And then in the last paragraph, he talked about when he was leaving, he was just feeling so good, felt like he and Tom had made a real connection, that he'd got some great material, etc. Then it hit him as Tom turned to go and he walked to his car...he'd never even been invited inside. He spent the whole day with him, outside. And he just thought that was kind of a metaphor for the whole experience--Tom kept his walls up, even while making you feel like he's your best friend. Just stuck with me.
A journalist is not a total stranger. He represents an institution. He had to ask for permission.Third pretty sure Tom gets to pick the location. Forth Tom has bodyguards. Fifth are you a Scientologist?

Theroux, by his soft approach, has a genius for appealing to the innate sense of superiority of most Americans, especially those with distorted viewpoints. He quietly lays them bare and by doing that does the world a great service.
People really do miss the mark when they accuse Americans of having a superiority complex. Speaking as an American, I don't think those on the outside really understand just how broken and insecure we are. I don't say this sarcastically, either, but as an honest assessment of who we are. We're so desperate to be told what our place in the world is that we aggressively cling to the first thing that makes us feel invited. That aggression is often mistaken as a superiority complex, but the truth is that if we thought anything of ourselves at all then we wouldn't need to be so loud and proud to try and prove it.

Nerd corner - Louis is wearing a Casio F-91W digital watch, originally released in 1989 and still in production - available for around $10 or £7 from your favourite retailer
Currency conversion provided by Casio
I'm on my 5th , its cheaper to buy a new watch than replace the strap
@@kelvinbedford6487 Lol true - I’ve been through a few myself. You can actually buy 3rd party replacement straps for £3.30 from Amazon UK, or genuine Casio only from Amazon US for $12.99. No currency conversion attempted! Either way you have to question if it’s worth it and just get a new watch. Perhaps even consider an ‘upgrade’ to the plastic body stainless steel strapped A158WA, for around £20 / $18. Or the full resin made to look metal but way cooler looking F91WM! About £$18. One thing Casio certainly deliver are tons of options for cheap, good, retro digitals. Wonder how many straps Louis’ been through

This is the first JRE I have listened to. I have read so many tweets etc disparaging Mr Rogan and after listening here I cannot understand why. He comes across as intelligent and is a great interviewer allowing Louis to speak and also making great points. I have subscribed!
I would explain why he is detested among the inner circles of the internet but I am sure you will see why soon, enjoy the stay though.
@@dashdashdash_ OK, but so far so good, I cannot find anything to dislike about him, he seems fair to me and as a martial artist, I find myself akin to him somewhat!

Joe rogan has moved his podcast over to Spotify btw, you’ll find them over there now
Big respect to Louis for standing his ethical ground to Joe and not disrespecting scientology in the same way he wouldn't to other belief groups.
"They seem like very nice people", that's usually what you hear from a killer's neighbor.
lol
Or "they were a loner" - with the exception of Fred West, every time he went to the pub he said "I could murder a Tennent" - only Scottish people would get that one.

Internet Police loved those documentaries
When he interviewed the Neo Nazis and wouldn't confirm or deny if he was Jewish. That was high tier trolling
Heroin Town is my favourite Louis documentary
Hearing Louis speak always gives me the warm feeling of hanging out with a friend...that is pretty special. I get a similar feeling from Ricky Gervais, Louis CK and Brian Cox, too.
And Eddie Izzard ❤️
Until CK whips his dick out...
Hi bro, have you got a link to this or remember which organisation published it? Been trying to find it for a couple of hours but no luck yet. x
TheLyingTruthTeller Then why invite the journalist to his home in the first place.
A journalist is not a total stranger. He represents an institution. He had to ask for permission.Third pretty sure Tom gets to pick the location. Forth Tom has bodyguards. Fifth are you a Scientologist?

English documentary filmakers are the best. Attenborough, Theroux etc.
please can you source who Therouxs style is copied from the US ? id be interested to see their work
richard chung ssssshhhhhhhh 🤫
Attenborough copied Americans Richard? How the fuck did you work that out? Attenborough was doing docs on the BBC in Black and white and BBC nature docs are the best in the world fact. Name a single American nature doc better than BBC? It doesn't exist you moron.
Nat Geo and Discovery wish they could make an Attenborough nature doc. They copy everything he does at a poorer level. Go and watch Planet Earth 2 and come back to me about what the BBC copied from American nature docs. The BBC are the Elite in the field.
Nick Broomfield.
Louis Theroux's impression of Tom Cruise is subtly excellent.

Scientology: Making Mormons look sane since 1952
The Church of Latter Day Saints turns bat sh#t crazy when you actually read about their founder, Joseph Smith who wrote Book of Mormons as a horny 24 year old.
As someone who was raised Mormon, that's so true. People that are Mormon don't read into all the stuff out there that doesn't make sense and is contradictory in the LDS religion.
But it's not just the Mormon religion, it's been all the religions i've looked into.
@@user-tk5fi1my5i I was around Scientology for two years.. it isn't a religion it's a dicipline. Never saw the word Love in print, it never referred to itself as some kind of path to spiritual enlightenment and if JC is mentioned, I didn't see it.
When you hear that Joseph Smith's encounter with this "Angel", called 'Moroni', you'd have to be a Real moron to believe anything in Mormonism, or Scientology for that matter(if you think critically, you can see that Scientology is full of Falsehoods, Fantasy and overall just Bad for the followers, who've been taken in by control-freaks. ).
Bernard Curtin yep and banging teenagers as young as 14 after threatening their families that an angel with a flaming sword would kill them all if they didn’t hand her over
"I thought I was a poached egg for a few weeks" that was one of the funniest lines I think Louis had ever said 😂😂😂

@@rickycouture7224 thanks for sharing this. America is in my mind quite a lot recently not only George Floyd, Corona related. I struggle to understand how it is possible for such a great country is played by their own president. Its really a shame he doesnt at all adress the topic of racism, how he shushes Reporters if they dont ask questions to his liking, how makes up new simpleton friendly phrases to describe opponents. And how black and white everything has become. Everyone wants to judge the other. Sometimes i have the Feeling the world is going through puberty. Because the same stuff is going down in europe..
World reserve currency, nearly unbeaten militarily in the past 50 years, 5% of the world's population and yet uses nearly 20% of global resources... I'd say it's the superior nation for now. The house of cards and Fiat currency will eventually fall.
Hmm as a Brit, Lord knows we’ve got more than our own fair share of pompous pricks who think the British are superior. It nauseates me seeing British people online piping up all the time about how Americans are the ones with the complex 🙄
