    Maybe you could try this:
    For fertilizer programme:
    Soil prep before planting:
    100g CIRP
    100g Chicken Manure/organic fertilizer
    100g GML
    Month 1: 100 g/plant/month of 15:15:15
    Month 2-5: 150 g/plant/month of 15:15:15
    Month 6: 100 g/plant/month of 12:12:17:2 and 75g of MOP
    Month 7 till harvest: 150 g/plant/month of 12:12:17:2
    As for leaves:
    8 leaves until flowering
    6 leaves when flowering
    4 leaves after you cut the flower.
    As for suckers:
    For maximum growth only keep it once your banana plant start to flower.
    If you do want to keep earlier, keep 1 at 3 months and another at 8 months.
    Keep sword suckers and cut the rest as this is the only one with vigorous growth.
    Just sharing for those who'd like to try differently.

    You can give them too much water. I planted one in the spring and then we got a lot of rain and a bit of cod whether. The combination made the plant rot out at the base and the medium and small pups died. They did come back several weeks later but the one that I kept in a container did much better. Be careful how much water you give them when you first put them in the ground.

    Tysm. I bought my 1st one last year and it grew great until winter and it turned brown and was completely dead one morning! I was so bummed. BUT this spring it came back!!! Actually 2 of them(or maybe one came out of the side, but it looks separate?) so do I cut one off? If so, which one? The old one or the newer one? Is there any way to keep/save both? It is still pretty short though, maybe waist high. Should I be taking off the lower leaves? I do take off one once in a while if it looks dead or rotting. Thank you to anyone for any advice! 🌱

    Exactly what time of year should pups be planted/transplanted in order to begin the cycle to produce fruit? Reason I ask is, my mom had Banana trees all over the place when I was growing up, and none of them ever produced the first fruit, even though they were brought up from Florida as fruiting banana plants. We were just to the northeast of Macon. So if I were wanting to grow bananas, what month would I start the pups? How would I keep them from being killed off by frost in the winter? Lots of details missing...

    • @georgiafarmingwithfluevog
      @georgiafarmingwithfluevog  2 роки тому +1

      Hi Lancer, your best bet would be to grow one in a pot all summer this year, bring it inside for winter, and then plant it next spring. By that time it should be the size of the one in my video. It will then have a good chance to fruit by end of year

    • @georgiafarmingwithfluevog
      @georgiafarmingwithfluevog  2 роки тому +1

      If they are brown or have bad cuts in the stalks of them, then yes, I would cut them off. Sometimes you can salvage part of the leaf if only part of it is damaged. Ideally, you could keep at least one or part of a couple that have green on them to help with photosynthesis and generating a new leaf. But even if you have to cut them all off, it will still continue to grow new ones

    I did a stupid thing to my banana plant. I think it's dying. I was given a pup. I was so excited so before I even learned about how to care for it I trimmed the old lower leaves. But I peeled them down to the soil level leaving the underneath trunk exposed. I did not just cut them off at the trunk. Now all the leaves are turning yellow. Do you have any idea how to save it?
