    1. Gold nuggets in the cast.
    2. This movie snagged all of the top 5 Oscars.😎
    3. Harding resembles my old barber/friend 😇 WWII vet.
    4. Nicholsen and Scatman worked together in "The Shining".
    5. Mac did more for those guys than Nurse Ratched and her crew.
    6. Ratched uses Billy's mother as her weapon. They all have their weaknesses, and she uses whatever they are against them for control.
    7. They gave Mac a lobotomy and the Chief put him out of his misery. He knew Mac wouldn't want to live like that.
    8. The book is written from Chief Bronden's POV.
    9. Ken Kesey was part of the group doing LSD testing, and he wrote this book he was under the influence.
    10. RIP Louise Fletcher😇

Your analysis of this film was my favorite out of all the "first time watchers". At some point you might want to read the book which is told from Chief's point of view and therefore he is the main character. FYI...you may know my very close personal friend Will Sampson from other major films...but you just don't recognize him. Cuckoo's Nest was his first acting performance ever....but after that he was in over 25 made for TV and big screen movies...and Native documentaries. He was " Crazy Horse" in The White Buffalo..the iconic Chief "Ten Bears" in The Outlaw Josey Wales...and the shaman"Taylor" in Poltergeist 11....just to name a few. Will told me that when making Cuckoo's Nest the subject matter was so dark and intense that Jack Nicholson would joke around between scenes to keep up everyone's spirits. Good ole Jack kept them all laughing...as only he could do. Will...who was actually 6'5" said they did put lifts in his shoes... ( keep that secret)... to make Chief Bromdon even bigger. And he also said that the actor who played Cheswick couldn't watch the scene where Chief put MacMurphy out of his misery...releasing his spirit (as he would have wanted) to be able to escape also ..only his spirit got to "fly over" that Cuckoo's Nest while Chief went through the window. Will Sonny Sampson...award winning artist, actor and Native advocate passed away on June 3, 1987 from complications from a heart/lung transplant. Thanks so much for your stellar job reviewing this movie.

Thanks that's awesome to hear you enjoyed the video! Thanks for all the extra info, I agree Will Sampson was great in this along with everyone else in this film. The acting was certainly phenomenal in this.
It's awesome to hear Jack Nicholson cheered the crew up. Kinda like he did in the film at times too.

I think it was very solidly directed and filmed. Absolutely clear, beautifully framed scenes direct focus appropriately and do all that is necessary to support the story.
The nurse was a close friend of Billy’s mother; it’s ethically questionable for her to be treating Billy an adult ( this is pre HIPA). Billy is terrified of his mother, that is the core issue. Nurse Ratched exploits that intentionally to regain control. She definitely is a villain (any of us could be presented the right set off conditions).

I think the cinematography for this movie is perfect. Because the script is so carefully crafted that it's inviting the audience to think through-out the film, like the deeper emotions in certain situations, slight charactor developments and other stuffs. It's more about simply showing the right things at the right moments, if the cinematography was more ambitious or gorgerous, it would be misguiding. And the impact of seeing the end wouldn't be as strong.

Ken Kesey, who wrote the book on which the script is based, was one of the best amateur wrestlers in the US and almost made the American Olympic team for the 1960 Rome Olympics. Later he led a group called the Merry Pranksters, who conducted the infamous Acid Tests.

This won Best Picture, Best Director for Milos Forman, Best Actor for Jack Nicholson, and Best Actress for Louise Fletcher at both the Oscars and the BAFTAs in 1977; the screenplay won in Hollywood but lost to _Bugsy Malone_ (of all things) in London. Nurse Ratched is still considered one of the great film villains of all time.

If you peel the onion one more level, this movie is not just about the sorry state of mental health, but a meta conflict of authoritarianism vs freedom. The director Milos Forman through this film was expressing his disgust for the.communist eastern bloc authoritarian government he had experienced growing up. You touched on this when you astutely discussed control vs chaos. It remins me of winston churchills quote, democracy is the worst government until you consider all the rest

Thanks for sharing those points! I definitely agree with Churchills quote there. I do feel nurse Ratchet has great ignorance in how she sees things which in turn hurts her in the end as we saw and others around her as well.

I really like your review. However, I think you are too kind to nurse ratched(wretched) You need to read between the lines and accept that Billies mom was very likely abusive and the wretched nurse used that knowledge to destroy Billy who was the wards spirit animal.

Mate I think that you should start watching Some Indian web series such a Mirzapur, Sacred Games, The family Man, Farzi 🙃❤
Note:- Watch The family man before Watching Farzi couz Farzi is related to The Family man and there will some epic crossover that you will only understand when you will watch Family man first 😀 👍
