Fun, but... Comden and Green did not write "Make 'Em Laugh" - Arthur Freed did. And it was Irving Berlin who heard it and asked Freed how he could have stolen from Cole Porter that way. Freed muttered that "It was just something the kids and I came up with." Freed produced "The Pirate." He knew what he was doing. Also, William Goldman wrote the NOVEL "No Way to Treat a Lady." John Gay wrote the screenplay. And when he first got to Hollywood as a young man Clark Gable let men blow him for money... so who knows?
It's a shame an otherwise great interview is marred by Wuhl's character assassination of Ty Cobb repeating and even embellishing inaccuracies about him.The movie Cobb is a piece of crap fiction as is Ken Burns horrible (lazy and incompetent) slanderous portrayal of Ty.For a real baseball fan (as Wuhl seems to be) he should know better.
