I'd love to see a redux version where they revisit ingredients but have 24 hours to prepare the absolute best version possible instead of frantically rushing through
a 24-hour Thanksgiving challenge with several of their ingredients used from Mystery Menu challenges would be awesome to watch! Something like "Mystery Feast" :)
Yeah, the rushing and pressure of time thing is getting old. Would love to see more focus on the creative process and explanation of /appreciation for ingredients and the folks who make them. It may feel like normal life to have all of these amazing things available in NY, but nothing that they are using should be taken for granted
This is the exact kind of menu I love this show for. Sohla and Ham have such creative minds and are so talented. I could watch them cook together forever.
sohla copies most of her recipes, seriously just google whatever she is making and it trended like a month earlier. how did you ever come to label her as creative?
@@patrick_8196 yes. she makes tasty food with a creative twist lol. most people have no idea how to put candy into a dinner meal. the point is not to create a totally new and unique 3 michellin star life altering dish. on top of that, are you aware most dishes including michelin star restaurant dishes typically aren’t inventing anything new and just build off of preexisting dishes? i’m sure you could do better.
@@patrick_8196 + with baking it's very different as you can't really taste along the way. So they come up with an idea what to do and then for the desserts she takes a recipe of a friend of hers and then incorperates and adapts it that fit that idea from before. For the recipes for Food52 she does recipe testing and can come up with a brand new recipe - but recipe testing usually takes weeks or months and can't be done for this kinda format. I feel like you don't understand WHAT you are watching here.....
Best show ever. Not only is their creativity inspiring, their chemistry is off the charts. Just love them so much. And great to see Priya back with them! ❤
Priya's point around limitations making you a better cook was a light bulb moment for me - I didn't really learn how to cook and get good at it until I got diagnosed with Celiac Disease (no gluten) and then started dating a vegan. Had to get real crafty and absolutely fell in love with the challenge of cooking!
Great episode. Maybe more than any other episode, this showed off the depth of knowledge both Ham and Sohla have in how to prepare certain dishes, what methods to use, improvising last moment when something goes wrong and having it turn out great anyways.
Wow, they actually listened to comments and brought in a guest taste tester. Much better than I expected from NYT, keep up the good work and definitely keep this series going.
I love how they have shared gestures and body language they both use, I could watch them all day. Mango puree in the swedish fish glaze would have been bomb btw.
What I enjoy is the creative constructive clarifying conversations and commentary in each episode as Sohla and Ham cook. Their surprise at the results of their own cooking in the episode was very sweet.
@@martymcrae5365 she experienced a lot of racism at BA(+ most POCs working there). Why do you feel like you can comment on someone elses experience with racism and make it sound like it did not happen?????
As I understand it Swedish fish in the US are flavoured with Lingonberry flavour(?) (here in Sweden we have a similar candy in Sweden called ‘salta fiskar’ / salty fish, that are salty liquorice flavoured, because we in the Nordics love our salty liquorice. And it’s a black colour). But lingonberries in Sweden, like the actual berries, are very commonly sweetened with a little sugar and served with meat, especially salty fatty big flavoured meats, also smoked. So a Smokey, fat fish with a lot of flavour, served with a lingonberry flavours glaze, makes a surprisingly a lot of sense to me. I haven’t seen the end of the video yet. But it sounds like a good plan
I LOVE Sohla and Ham SO MUCH! Waiting almost a month for this episode was pure agony. They are incredibly creative, high-vibrational culinary visionaries! Always mindful to the balance of flavor, freshness, texture, and beauty of any dish with any ingredients offered. Delightful geniuses.
How am I just now seeing this show?!? Sohla and Ham are so much fun to watch! I hope these guys keep doing this for a super long time. They are amazing chefs that work so well together. Couple goals right here. Now I get to watch the previous 12.
I love them. This show is so fun because of the creativity and energy these two bring, even when it's frantic energy. Add on the surprise stressor of a mystery guest, only for it to be a good friend, and it's awesome. Also, I'm already looking forward to year 3 of the gingerbread house battle. Bring on the winter holiday baking!
obsessed with every episode of this show. i always love seeing sohla and ham bounce ideas off of each other/collaborate and love seeing their process and how they adapt when things don't work out as they expect (like sohla pivoting from 'tootsie roll veil' to the ropes/strands instead). and priya popping up at the end was such a nice surprise!! ♥♥
Sometimes I wish these weren't timed so I could see all the crazier things they could do if they had the time. I still love watching them though their minds are insanely creative
Sohla and Ham are a celebration themselves. They are a joy to watch and an inspiration. Keep it coming. Being a chef myself- the only (other) thing I really want to see is a “head to head”. (Yes, obviously reminiscent of “Iron Chef”, mystery ingredient) I’m up for the challenge. And I’d gladly watch another person work through a “mystery ingredient with a twist”. Just.. excellent styled intro. Concept explained. Money-shot up front to hook in the viewer. Bravo!
Ahhhhh it's much needed crossover/reunion of three of my favorites NYT Cooking creators! it's nice to see 3 friends vibe and hang-out. This episode was so fun- the mystery ingredient is a smart and unexpected choice and seeing Sohla and Ham crack on the mystery menu is always a treat. Priya day-drinking is such a big mood. Hahaha!!! Make more of these please!
You guys are great as a body doubling substitute. Watching you gives me energy to clean and organize my home while you guys whip out a thousand different courses in an hour. Thank you for your creativity, delightful people ❤
I love watching their process in the beginning when they're coming up with ideas for the menu!! sohla and ham are so creative and smart im always impressed by the result
The best thing about this series to me is seeing how 2 professional chefs think about how flavours go together and what techniques to use to achieve a certain texture / flavour. I agree with some comments below suggesting a longer version so that we get to really explore the reasoning behind these choices. Love this series!
Sohla is an awful human being who got all of her coworkers fired over 60 seconds of 'unpaid cameos'. If BA was so racist, why is she still employed by them???
i just love sohla as a person so much. it's been now i think.. 4 years that i watch videos of her and i never get tired she's such a joy and is so skilled in what she does I'm forever amazed (i love ham too but i havent consumed as much content with him)
Hi,, HKBabel. You weren't the only one who " laughed out loud." Couldn't sleep, got up at 1:00 AM, and watched this in the living room. Kept laughing SO out loud that I woke my husband up. He came out of the bedroom wondering what was going on.
Totally need to schedule this for a pre/post Hallowe'en viewing with my granddaughter. The joy and silliness of adults acting just like 7 year olds, dumping the candy out, looking for their favorites, sorting everything into piles. She might not watch the whole show. But maybe. B/c she'd get a kick out of Solha and Ham's out-there ideas and their literal "Joy of Cooking".
You should have a guest taste every episode!! I’d love to see a variety of people, anywhere from renowned chefs to food critics/writers to the people who own the food products being used. Can you imagine the owner of hot pockets tasting the hot pockets mystery menu?!

I hope Sohla and Ham understand how much joy these videos bring to everyone. Audibly exclaimed "helllll yeah" when I saw another one.
Of course it's Priya! Please tell me we are going to get another gingerbread house episode this holiday season. The first two were so much fun.
I really hope so, it's so much fun.
Last year they pitched all four of them doing a Home Alone gingerbread house. Hoping to see that this year!
Yes the previous BA Ethnics
Best show ever. Not only is their creativity inspiring, their chemistry is off the charts. Just love them so much. And great to see Priya back with them! ❤
I agree! Their chemistry is 10/10. They should date

I'll say it again, the best cooking duo on the interwebs. That a network hasn't picked this up yet is a tragedy.
I think the end part is greatly enhanced by having a mate come in and talk about what they're tasting. Made this series even better!
I didn't think I would ever relive the joy from watching BA videos... until I watched Sohla and Ham in action! Thank you NYT Cooking! ❤️
Always so excited to see this series come up. Please pay Sohla and Ham handsomely because they're literally the only reason I originally subscribed
My absolute favorite series on UA-cam.
Yep
I love that these mad challenges give Sohla and Ham opportunities to show how brilliant *and* how delightful they are. So good!!
I adore you two and this series SOOO much!! The creativity between you two never fails to amaze me
I am soo glad Sohla is now with a company that showcases her talent. The talent was wasted at BA.

I love watching anything with Solah. The addition of Ham just makes it better. You two are a fantastic pair.
btw it's Sohla, not Solah
Sohla’s “whoa’s” need to be merchandised somehow I just love it. Love this series!!!

Sohla and Ham are legit giving the Iron Chef series a run for their money here! What a fantastic creative and compatible couple.

Bonus points for the Halloween orange and black color scheme throughout. Such genius! Love Sohla and Ham!

when sohla started moving around because her bra straps were falling down i felt that deeply, we stan a relatable queen
I hope they discussed the date for the gingerbread competition while Priya was there! I’ve loved the last two!
I feel like they film that months in advance over the summer, tbh

They said it themselves that they need the limitations or they'd overthink (in this case take way too long).
This is my favorite cooking show.
Their chemistry, their creativity, their humor 💯
Genuinely could watch these two cook for hours. I learn so many clever things every time. Please keep going with this segment!

I love this show. I love seeing left field stuff made delicious. Very creative. Happy for them to have more time
