DCS pilot here - this looks great, I’m really looking forward to this! To the people saying that “we already have DCS, MSFS, etc, remember that competition is a good thing. Right now DCS has a pretty strong hold on the market. I love DCS but there’s a lot of things missing that I’d really like to see. In particular I’d like to see a dynamic campaign. Eagle Dynamics has talked about this in the past but now maybe there’s a chance it might happen. I’d also like to see aircraft like the Me 262 in DCS. It’s going to be great to have a chance to fly some of the planes which aren’t available elsewhere. Each sim offers something a little different so I’m interested in checking out Combat Pilot to see what they focus on. If they hit it out of the park we’ll end up with a great new sim that could also inspire innovation throughout the whole flight sim community. O7

This will be my ride. At least until the Corsair gets introduced. It's interesting hearing the difference between the Wright and Sakae engines. The Sakae sounds like an old lawn mower in comparison. Are you going to model the hand crank for the F4Fs landing gear? The Wildcat didn't have powered landing gear, but a hand crank, which also caused the aircraft to tend to wobble during takeoffs because the movement of the pilot working the crank was transmitted into the stick. I would have thought the default skin would be for Fighting Squadron Six, since you're starting with Enterprise.
Love this! I’ve always wanted to get more into combat sims and I think this will be the one I go for. Reminds me of Pacific Fighters from years ago (IL-2 series)

Have been flying the F4F and it feels really great to fly incredibly relaxing but also scary at the same time as need to be careful of so many things. Exciting times ahead trying land on carrier is a job not for the faint hearted. I have average to good PC and runs incredibly smooth like no fsim I seen
*VERY* nice graphical and visual rendering (particularly lighting effects). Audio details seem quite good too (even at 'pre-Alpha' stage). I noticed no pilot avatar was present in the cockpit. I haven't decided yet if this is a good or bad thing (as I'm used to Il-2 - where the pilot is rendered in the cockpit).
Here are the three things I want from any sim. Deliver on these three things, and you'll probably sell me: 1. VR support. 2. Good performance. 3. Stuff to do beyond basic missions (i.e. a dynamic campaign, or some format of mission with a high replay value) #4 doesn't really need to be said, but given where DCS and plenty of other sims are today maybe it does - if you have AI, it would be great if they weren't complete morons.
Man, the sound, and the wind sfx, really adds to the sense of flight, it's awesome. I hope for the potential of this game possibly coming to consoles, though I know it is unlikely.😮💨 The flight sim catalog is very much non-existent over here, or at least on the Playstation side.
@J0hn-MiCHaeL Flying with a console controller can be done, the binding of controls are also do-able, limiting sure, but it wouldn't mean that it would be impossible for flight simulators to be developed on consoles, as both a port and/or made natively. It would just mean that you have less abilities dependent on what's offered ingame
There is no other choice. Otherwise see you in 10+ years. It's better than you may think, but there are always challenges with any engine. All the other sims have engines that are 10+ years in development to get to the current iteration.

Pacific theater did have mustangs but think of all the other planes that don't get nearly as much love! SBD Dauntless, F4F wildcat, F4U Corsair, P-38, P-40... All the Japanese planes like the Ki-84, A6M, D3A, B5N1 and so on.
There were mustangs deployed in the pacific thatre, but I wouldn't hold out my breath for them. The team is bound to be concentrating on navy aircraft. And if they implement any army air force planes on release, they will prioritise those that has more impact and/or more media represantation in that theatre, such as p-40 and p-38.
USAAF definitely operated Mustangs in the PTO, but we have Mustangs in literally every WW2 flight sim in the history of ever. Give me Wildcats, SBDs, Hellcats, Avengers, etc.
You ever flown a plane with a radial engine? I have. I think it sounds great - or at least, very realistic. Guess it depends on what you think great is.

The environment doesn't change that much when you turn your head. A pilot wearing a helmet perceives the frequency spectrum of the environment differently. I apologize for the Google translation.

Agree on the pilot head movement, and also found it amusing that the exterior shot seemed to still have the interior sound of gear retraction (which wasn't great) but I think that the actual sound of the motor is pretty close, and after your comment I listened to this takeoff roll and didn't think the takeoff power sound (in the sim) was too far off. Pre-alpha and all that. IL-2 GB has had decades to tune theirs, and it still has issues.
Cant wait to buy and fly with my partner in this game. its really annoying to have visual issues in these sims but I think you guys can overcome it. Just a note:(dont trust ue5 that much, grapichs are cool bu they are same in every ue game its somewhat uncanny now. Try to create your own grapichs apart from what ue gives u they seem good but look cheap)

To create a really good SIMULATOR you need a team, preferably with experience in game development. Hence my question: who needs this “game”?
How can this be considered a cash grab when its pre-alpha footage and not even for sale? This is an upcoming WWII air combat simulator, filling a gap in the current gaming market by focusing on the Pacific Theatre, which has been largely overlooked in modern air combat games.

Do we though? Currently we have no dynamic campaign, no Japanese WW2 aircraft on the horizon, one WW2 map, one Pacific fighter on the way. DCS is certainly an ideal WW2 flight sim, I would argue the best WW2 flight sim is IL-2 GB or even Il-2 1946 over DCS.

Its not the default skin. We don't really have one yet and yes we will model the hand crank in some way. We are aware it was not automatic.

@Umm no… I produced Kuban, Bodenplatte, Normandy, Tank Crew, Flying Circus and many collector planes. I left in fall 2022.
