New to your channel. No pretentiousness with you Charles, you just get on with it. Genuine, honest and informative tutorials. That Lindisfarne sky dried wonderfully atmospheric,. A skill made to look easy.
You are such a delight to watch and listen too:) Your love for painting is very contagious and you are a natural born teacher:) I have always loved water colours and you have inspired me to explore it:) I would love to see a UK wind mill of yesterday in one of your paintings....if you ever get a chance:)
Hello I am so sorry if this sounds weirds but you wrote such a nice and wonderful comment on here and I like your comment. I can tell you're a very positive person. If it's okay with you I'd love to be your friend. If you don't mind I will love to chat with you and get to know you more. It will be nice if I have your email so I can send you a message.
Thanks Charles! I absolutely love your sky. I find your tutorials very calming and as I’m unwell at the moment, they’re a great calming therapy. Also, we haven’t visited Northumbria for a while, so it’s great to see you painting it.
Hi Charles. Peter from Noosa Australia. Well from the drawing to the sky then introduce the rest. Once again your methods may be simple but all of us simple painters thank you. Seriously I have just finished this painting and yes “ take your time and it all comes together “ Just loved it many thanks. Peter. Think we Wil be in England this time next year. I hope we will be able to catch up. If for nothing more than to buy you and Gail a drink. Please if you can keep the watercolour coming. Till next time.remember to be bad. It’s more fun than being good ,,,,,
I am a big fan of your books and have learned a lot from this tutorial - mainly that I use far too little pigment and water resulting in faint lackluster painting. I particularly liked the way you painted te sky. Thank you for your inspiration.
oi...aqui pedro do brasil.... mestre charles... que felicidade acompanhar teu trabalho... tens sido um grande ajuda nas minhas duvidas com os lápis aquareláveis.... saúde e longa vida, nos encantando com tua técnica.
The journey from looking at these lovely scenes in a book as a kid, to growing and being able with practice to actually paint these scenes on paper oneself... is extraordinary. You have chosen a good path Charlie and congratulations. 🎨🎨🎨
Love this interpretation of what could otherwise have been a bit of a boring view. I'll definitely have a go at this. When I tried your last painting of your friend's house I finally cracked my problem of painting trees. (because I wasn't trying so hard?) Can't wait to see what this one helps me with. Thanks
Glad to see another of your tutorials. Even though I'm subscribed to your page I hardly ever see them. Utube! Love the painting. Next time you come to the states you should drive along the St. George peninsula, Owls Head, and Spruce Head. The most beautiful scenery here.
Another brilliant tutorial Charles, thank you. This is one of my favourites. Love the sky! Looking forward to your new book on fixing watercolour mistakes coming out - I really need tips. Thanks again.
I love this Charles. We're from Yorkshire but have been over The Causeway mant times on our frequent trips to Northumberland ( and never once got caught out by the tide)!!
please, please please continue to use this new palette you have. It makes your technique so much more accessible because we can actually see the consistency of the paint you're mixing in your palette which is as, if not more important than what goes on in the painting.
So helpful to have a clean palette. We can actually see the colors that you mix. Now maybe you can offer line sketches and we will be in business! Thanks Charlie.
I love your painting, I went to Olympia years ago and watched you paint, it was amazing, I was in awe, I have never made the grade but I keep trying, you make it look effortless, which it is not, but you have such a beautiful talent you must be very proud of your achievements. Thank you so much.
Iam happy, when i can watch a new video. Ur tips and tricks helped me so much! Watching ur skillful painting ist always inspiring! Thank you! Greetings from Germany :)
I enjoyed this one. When you say ‘Dark sky, scary!!’ You’re just ahead of my thinking wow that’s going to be interesting! I need to experiment with that, it certainly makes a dramatic sky. And of course see the ‘master of shadows’ did not disappoint!! Thanks and best regards to the missus!
I’ve watched all your videos (some more than once) several times and learn all the time. I also plough on and do my best. Come to Barnard Castle my home town, it has a lot to offer the artist.
Thank you once again for a wonderful lesson. Your generosity has no bounds. In my attempts at practising skies, I use a 3/4" Aquafine (one stroke) brush. However, my skies always end up banded and streaky. I wonder if the problem is the brush, ie, "one stroke". Must admit I hadn't noticed when I bought it.
Always like the fact that you show everything, even mistakes. Makes the amateur feel more confident, I reckon. Also, clean pallet, WOW! I must have OCD or something and I have to clean everything after I've used it. I have sometimes wondered how much value in paint is on your dirty old pallet and what colours you'd make up if you dug deep into the piles. 🤣 Love it.
absolutely beautiful! I visit The Holy island every year. This is a memorable way to remember it and tell me Charles Evans will you be producing a book which includes this painting. If so I’d like to buy it. Thank you it was a most enjoyable demonstration.

This is absolutely a gorgeous painting. I have two questions. Do you have a book or video that shows how to mix your basic colors to get other manufactured colors, and can all the equipment you use be purchased on your web site or e store. Thank you so much for all you have done for painters.
Damn! I was going to retire to my bed thinking that I may not be able to paint very well, but I know that Christopher Lee was in The Wicker Man, not Peter Cushing and therefore I am somehow improved. Then your better half took even that away from me! Love the videos and the fact that Gail (?) is a classic British movie fan.
