Kalshi solves one of the biggest pain points -- which is that you can be right on the underlying assumption but still get fk'ed by the market because of how interconnected and even irrational the market can be. The arguments against trading events are all garbage too. Casinos are legal. Betting on sports is legal in most states. Even if those two weren't legal, going balls deep into yolo options is way more speculative / gambling than a yes/no on a certain event. At it's core, we are adults and federal agencies need to fuck off on putting rules with what we can do with our own money in order to protect us from ourselves. Kalshi will have extremely hard time getting a license to bet elections as it would serve as a proxy for a poll (except these polls would be legitimate) -- and that would restrict the medias ability to control the publics perception. Federal government is full of these unelected nerds who are in bed with the people who want to control these perceptions

Event trading sounds like a fancy name for gambling. Nothing new about this idea. An even fancier name is Prediction markets which has been a thing in Crypto since for a while now. With life insurance you're at least offering a tangible benefit. How is this different from betting on the outcome of a dice throw or a game of football? Maybe CFTC can enlighten us.
What makes Kalshi special, is that they do KYC, and are regulated... So your money coming from them doesn't look fishy and is less likely to lead to an audit.

Many of bad events have been created by human actors. event trading could lead to man-made calamities.
A dumb take tbh. Event trading is able to show public opinion, which in a world of deceit with people trying to control the narrative, that's a huge plus to mankind & democracy
