  • What you're seeing in this video is a compilation of footage taken from multiple sessions throughout 2023. They feature myself, SammyB, MXXWLL, Nigel Hall, Andris Mattson, Morgan Burrs and our boy 'Melo.
What you don't see in this video is the spontaneous jam session that took place on April 20th, 2019 when the Australian producer MXXWLL was residing in our back house, and he invited his friend, Grammy award-winning producer Linden Jay, to Blue Dream Studios to collaborate on music. Linden also brought along bass player Stuart Zender, a founding member of the band Jamiroquai.
That night, SammyB, Linden, MXXWLL, and Stuart created multiple jam sessions, which SammyB later sampled to craft the intro for 'Let Me Remind You.' He then built a track around the chord progressions from that jam, and songwriter Jess Best and I penned almost the entire song during a single writing session. The overall production draws inspiration from the vibes of Los Angeles, incorporating elements of West Coast hip-hop, orchestral strings, vintage Fender Suitcase Rhodes, synthesizers, and guitar.
Originally, this song was supposed to be a SammyB release featuring me, but instead it turned into more of a collaboration and I talked Sam into letting me use it for my next album. When Jess Best came over for our initial writing session, the lyrics stemmed more from a place of a significant other reminding you of who you are when you’ve forgotten what you’re capable of, but over time, it mutated into a version of me reminding myself.
