    So a few weeks ago I was having trouble with scoring goals during matches, so I decided that if I trained I would get better - and without a doubt After a week of non stop training with hard work I scored three goals on the next match! :)

    This is the GOLDEN video of football videos on UA-cam. Everything explained in this video is literally what creates the different levels in football. If you want to elevate your game or even become professional, mastering this should be everything to you. Its SO unfortunate how not many people realize this.

    This video was perfect! Everything was said so concisely and this is honestly a really important aspect of football that doesn't get taught enough in the states. I played for several years in america and not once was taught properly about this and pushed to improve it. i go to England and this is pretty much all they drill into our head. literally we could go threw half a week of training only doing 2 or 3 touch play even in the scrimmages.

    • @David-gg9kv
      @David-gg9kv 6 років тому +2

      FootPauler maybe just your situation, where I train we do loads of two touch drills and work on speed of play and it’s the biggest thing my coach emphasizes

    I think your first touch is really important to play quicker with the ball. When you get a pass, you should look up and see whats going on. If an opponent rushes at you, take the touch in a direction where they lose their momentum, then play the ball or move in the space you maybe just created. If you get a pass and just stand still, it's so much easier to take you out, and the better players will take advantage of bad touches.

    I completely agree with this. Last season my team got promoted from c1 to premier. At the beginning of our first premier season we would get out possessed and we just weren’t quick enough when we had the ball. Eventually after we adjusted to the speed of play of this new level we could play faster and now we went from getting destroyed by the worst team in the league. To almost sneaking away with a win against the team that won the league... twice. We managed not to get relagated, And now I have a great feeling about this season. Great vid Matt

    One of the best way to improve speed of play is to condition players to 1 touch so they are forced to LOOK and THINK about the next pass before they receive the ball. If they have done the first parts right they still need to DECIDE and EXECUTE (technical) to gain success. Sometimes it's best to play slow.. knowing the right moment to increase the tempo of play is also involved.

  • @ibenathimhlakaza4338
    @ibenathimhlakaza4338 2 роки тому +1

    Quick turns are the only way to play faster...as long as you take a quick turn into space and then its your choice to drift into the open space or pass an open player

  • @clarkbailey7157
    @clarkbailey7157 6 років тому +29

    Great video, love the topic. How do you challenge yourself to play quickly when you’re surrounded by worse players who don’t have the ability to play as quick? I can take few touches but it doesn’t translate because I’m not under a ton of pressure and not getting it played back with the same urgency. Finding higher level players isn’t really an option for me as I live within a small soccer community and away from the bigger cities. How should I challenge myself to play quicker when my technique is past those around me?

    • @soccercoach5815
      @soccercoach5815 6 років тому +6

      It's going to be difficult but even if those around you don't play quickly, it doesn't mean you can't. Challenge yourself by taking fewer touches and if you lose possession analyse why that happened.. is it really your teammates or something you've done. Try to play in a higher age group against faster stronger players and you will be challenged more.

    You guys wanna hear the funniest thing about going pro . If you dont play aggressive and dribble they wont sign you if you just pass the whole time

    • @soccercoach5815
      @soccercoach5815 6 років тому +42

      It's more about doing the right thing at the right time. Sure, if you have the opportunity to be positive to attack and dribble into space or take players on in the right areas.. you should dribble. But if you're looking to dribble every time you receive the ball you'll become predictable and you will have less chances of success.. which means losing the ball and looking worse than playing a simple pass.

      You should only dribble in 2 scenarios:
      1) there's no good passes to make
      2) the other team has weakness that you can exploit by dribbling. Perhaps they are giving you lots of space or they are slow.

    I would say it is better to be aware then technically capable because if you are just technical but you can't find spaces and make quick decisions then there is no point of having those skills. where as if you are constantly aware of where to go and what to do your are putting yourself in a better position to succeed, even if you might not have the best first touch.

    • @soccercoach5815
      @soccercoach5815 6 років тому

      Harper Neubeck You really need both to consistently succeed. Good technique (control and passing) doesn't become a SKILL until it's performed under pressure (in a match) where you also require the awareness and quick decision-making to be successful.

    • @harperneubeck8285
      @harperneubeck8285 6 років тому

      Soccer Coach Yes I know you need both that’s not what I was saying. I was pointing out that it is more important to have awareness rather than a really good touch

    • @soccercoach5815
      @soccercoach5815 6 років тому

      Harper Neubeck I would encourage young players to work as hard on improving their technique as they do on awareness and decision-making.
