Gotta love the roar of the engines from both Lancaster's and the Vulcan... plus hearing the bells in the background just seems very British :)

Seeing these 3 in the air stirs so many different emotions. Deep gratitude for the countless numbers that used the Lancasters for the job they were built for, and awe at the speed with which the aviation industry evolved over a very short period of time, the first Vulcan flew in 1951, the year I was born, and deep sadness that the skills that were behind these and subsequent aircraft like TSR2, the Harrier and of course Concorde, are no longer valued or encouraged by successive generations of politicians, to the point where the UK no longer has a viable and vibrant independent aircraft manufacturing industry, the UK has become merely a sub contractor to other countries.
We also owe a huge vote of thanks to the countless volunteers that have been responsible for returning these wonderful machines to operating condition and status.
I would have to hope that maybe some of our present politicians will recognise that keeping these machines serviceable so that they can continue to be serve as a real reminder of all that has gone before is something that transcends mere beancounting. They are a fundamental part of the recent history of the UK and should be retained as such, not just as static reminders of the price that was paid by so many fine people.
I now live in Ireland, so I can't start a petition to "encourage" Mr Cameron to provide the support to keep the Vulcan flying, to serve as a reminder of the significant role that the UK has played over the last century in shaping the future of Europe. Perhaps someone in the UK will take that on board.

If only the three remaining fast taxi-able Vulcans could be reactivated and sent to Ukraine to help in the struggle there ... What a fantastic sight that would be no doubt some of the Russians who have never heard of her would think the Martians were landing !

I was in a field next to where the new bomber command memorial is being built, I watched all 3 rise in the distance from RAF Waddington and then waited and there out of the gloomy skies came what can only be described as 'beautiful' I'll never forget seeing these 3 in formation, a once in a life time event...

Why am I crying? because I have seen the most amazing sight and listened to the most amazing sounds. Thank you for the video. A couple of years ago I was too ill to see the Vulcan at our local airshow. I was in my garden for some fresh air and there in front of me in the sky was the most amazing sight of the Vulcan flying over Abingdon after the air show and it came right over my house. Never stopped crying, what a softie I am but worth it.

Used to work on these aircraft 1970 - 73 (PA474 and Vulcans) whilst at RAF Waddington. PA474 was put back into flying condition in in 1973 (flew in it 4 times as ground eng) before going to the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight (then based at RAF Coltishall, Norfolk) Have to admit every time I see the Lanc or XH558 in the sky's over Lincolnshire it always makes makes me emotional.

I went to Waddington and watched the Lancaster's land, then onto Metheringham where there was an airfield in WW2 and was in awe of the three sister flypast. Hundreds gathered here to await the see the spectacle. Really enjoyed seeing the three get airborne a few miles away. XH558 looked fantastic as she banked starboard to group with the Lanc's and fly over Lincoln. Well worth taking the day off and racing to the other side of the country!

EXCELLENT JOB !! The amazing fact is--there was only about 7 years between the Lancs production wind down, and the futuristic Vulcan's arrival, and yet--EVERYTHING about them could not be more different. The rush to design, develop , and produce the first Jet powered nuclear bomber's post war, was a tremendous achievement, boosted by the dramatic change in East/ West relations. If the Vulcan had come on the scene for the first time in the 1970's, she would have still looked futuristic.

@soaringtractor The British had no need for a bigger bomber, the Lanc did an adequate and reliable job. The yanks I believe found that their crappy B17 was not up to the job in the Pacific, hence they had to develop a new and bigger plane with greater range. I also believe they had a lot of initial issues with it before it was fit for service. ....I would never call it the best bomber.
