Those death puddles are top notch! It was great to collab with you on this one. Needless to say, I'm quite stoked for this series.
Right on! There is no shortage of bones in the videos to come. Thanks for all your hard work!
SO COOL!! Adding the skeletons to the water/acid pits is such a next-level creative touch.
Thank you Sara :)
Great build! Got my resin order yesterday, got my dyes already. I have some big pieces planned, looking forward to doing my pour hopefully next weekend!
Awesome, I can't wait to see it!
Love these Catacomb tiles! Just downloaded the Skeleton files from Tiger Skull, thanks for the heads-up! Will be making these Catacomb tiles for my group, after I finish the Sewer you already inspired me to build!
Thanks for supporting Tiger Skull and the hobby in general. John's sewer build was the first build I ever saw of his, one of my faves!
That's great Rex, and thanks for sharing that. And yes, I remember first chatting with Alex years ago now about the sewer tiles... where does time go??
@@TabletopWitchCRAFT Okay John, finally taking the plunge and just ordered off your Amazon affiliate link the 6mm x 3mm Magnets! Sliced a couple mm off the "skin" of the xps foam, the texture roller from Shiftinglands (THANKS for the
heads-up on them!) makes a bit deeper impression once it's removed. A bit tedious to be sure, but I think it's worth it. Thanks Again for the inspiration!
These are absolutely spot on, I can’t wait to see the full series of builds and this all coming together, in Scotland where I’m from, in the Capital city Edinburgh there’s vault’s and catacombs just like this, very damp, and very dank.
Right on, thank you :) I would have loved to have seen those for inspiration! Sounds like the exact environment I'm trying to capture! Thanks for sharing that.
Excellent opening, John. These tiles are awesome
Thanks Adam!
They look fantastic! I started using the clear resin you use and I love it as well! Hardens fairly quickly and a great result!
Right on Ken!!! Thanks.
Yes!! Love this! Tiger Skull files are so awesome. I have the sequential skull file and have to get this one! Badass!
He does great work for sure! Thanks.
Hey there, Thanks for picking those up, happy crafting!
@@tigerskullrpg5092 🤘🏼
I love the pools, and the skeletons! looks great.
Thank you Shane!
Fantastic build! I bought the skulls from Tigerskull games right after you did the Krampus build…..I’m gonna need those skellie remains for sure! Love the effect you got with the tinted resin, and a great way to mark out the tile system! Can’t wait to see the next vid!
Thanks for supporting us Andy, hope you enjoy scattering them bones!
@@tigerskullrpg5092 love your work, will be purchasing more stl’s (like the one John used…they look awesome), when I get the chance!
Thanks Andy.... we both appreciate it :)
Man, this project is so freaking awesome!! I'm going to have to try this for my next campaign! Also, I love seeing you get creative with the intro! :D
I'm glad you're going to give this build a go, and thanks for the review of the intro :)
Spectacular look!
Thank you !!
Thanks TW.
You got i! Thanks for watching Janet :)
Cool build I want to try it now it looks fun
Thanks Jasai. Give it a go!
wow john those are beautiful tile just keep going
That's the plan! Thanks :)
Love the tiles bro
Thank you !! 👍
Awesome idea
Thank you !
You should consider adding affiliate links for other amazon sites aswell, besides the US. Sadly the costs of shipping over seas are too high.
I'm, for example, are using Amazon Germany, Sweden and UK and would love to support you by puchasing through your links.
Just a thought!
Besides that, you inspired me to create a catacombs set myself - heavily inspired by you! Absolutely love you work
I love to hear you're creating your own! Yes, I'm in the process of getting affiliate links in other countries as well. I'll be adding them to my website once finished... hopefully in the near future!
Very nice work, I really like what you are building. 👍
Thank you very much!
J'adore c'est vraiment bien fait et ça a l'air facile. Il fallait avoir l'idée. Bravo a vous !
Merci, c'est un bricolage amusant et facile. Donner un coup de feu!
I'm not entirely sure if this works as catacombs, it looks more like something closer to a carved out cavern inhabited by a necromancer or something undead.
The pools kind of take it further away from the actual catacombs look from what I've seen in places, most tend to be dry and dusty, set up to keep water away from the bodies due to potential for disease issues
The Necromancer is obviously a novice. They could be the remains of abominations he's failed to sustain, and the remains of those experiments are acidic.
Could also be Blorps that had severe indigestion after they absorbed the spicy last-meal that was still in the bellys of the previous adventurers.
Also, walls are missing- he touches on that at the end of the vid
Thanks all, so yeah the pools of water definitely existed in catacombs. Who says what state they are in and what time period in the existence of these catacombs the setting takes place. Take a peek online, you'll see many catacomb pictures where they are flooded.
Most catacombs are wet and damp due to rising sea levels and flooding. Ie…the river Seine in Paris has flooded the catacombs many times. Eg 1910 the famous flood.
@@TabletopWitchCRAFT I'd like to cast my cantrip, Shop-Vac
Fr though, great vid. Love the gridless system. Your emphasis on patience and immersion is very inspiring!
ITS ALWAYS HALLOWEEN HERE!!!
:)
Once visited the catacombs and was surprised to find it was damp enough for moss to grow. I thought it would be "bone dry"... Yes, agreed, they are getting worse.
Bonzer job as always brother!!!🤘🏼🤘🏼
lol, Yep that's what you would think, but some have enough water to "wake the dead". Ok... yeah, just as bad lol.
Yeah, and the scariest part is they just keep on coming.......
Sensei!! Billy bomb badass! I have only one complaint: I got to wait a whole week to see the second video! -Rick, USMC
haha, right on! Log on to Discord this week... I'll be on while filming. I'll give you a sneak peek!
Amazing
Thank you !
This is too cool John! You must be snowed in because your mind is coming up with better and better videos and builds! (or would that be the other way around? lol) Either way, this is really great I love it! Ever watch Josh Gates? Some time ago he went down with a group of urban explorers into the catacombs below Paris. Their catacombs are so vast that these guys were mapping them and only had a small portion of them mapped out! I can't wait to see your walls! It should be totally creepy with skulls stacked in them I'm betting! Your channel is going from instructional to both that and entertainment! I literally can't wait from one week to the next to see what you are going to build!
Thanks so much Frank ! I have to check out Josh Gates. I also value the review and thoughts of the direction of my videos and the channel.... I have been slightly changing things up a bit :)
@@TabletopWitchCRAFT I like the direction!
Amazing!!!
Thank you !
The flourescent/brighter colors would look good under mushrooms or other vegetation, kind of a like a pollen effect.
Oh yeah, great idea!
Canta way for the walls.
Right on Franky! 🤘
Heh i remember when Black Magic Craft made this kind of tiles some time back. But You made it diffrent :)
Thank you so much!! I try and put a montage at the end of all my EPIC builds. :)
Cool intro!
Thank you :)
What a great video. Did you ever make tiles for the game Carcassonne and what size magnets do you use
Thank you and I haven’t heard of that game. I’ll check it out! There’s a link to the exact magnets I use in the video description :)
Absolutely adoring your work! Don't suppose another giant build is coming up? Perhaps a playable Horizonback Tortoise?
Thank you Joanna :) I have one planned on the horizon!

Right on ! 👍
I am curious as to what you think the word 'catacomb' means. All the catacombs I have seen have been made up of narrow corridors, and neatly-kept small rooms. There were no open areas, no ponds, and no big lumps of rock on the floor.
I guess I could read off to you what the definition of what a catacomb is, but let’s set that aside for a moment.... I find it interesting that you haven't seen a catacomb to the dimensions I have made them for tabletop gaming, without any open areas, without ponds, and no lumps or rocks on the floor, but you have seen them with skeletons and zombies walking around... I mean if you're picking it apart for authenticity why stop at the width of my tiles or the fact there's a puddle on the tile. Finally I'll leave a copy of this comment here from another viewer: "These are absolutely spot on, I can’t wait to see the full series of builds and this all coming together, in Scotland where I’m from, in the Capital city Edinburgh there’s vault’s and catacombs just like this, very damp, and very dank."
@@TabletopWitchCRAFT Google's definition is "an underground cemetery consisting of a subterranean gallery with recesses for tombs, as constructed by the ancient Romans." I have been in a few of these, and they are very cramped. Wikipedia defines a catacomb as "Man-made subterranean passageways for religious practice. Any chamber used as a burial place is a catacomb, although the word is most commonly associated with the Roman Empire." All the burials in a catacomb are deliberate. The bodies are neatly placed in tombs, sarcophagi, and more often tiny walled-up shelves and recesses. Your tiles are thirty feet across to scale, which is wide even for a modern building. Your floors are mostly earth, with unworked boulders between. Catacombs in the real world are carved into rock. You mention zombies, suggesting that these are only for fantasy games. Is there some other definition of catacomb in your fantasy world? Don't get me wrong. You tiles look fine - it's just that I don't know what they are meant to represent because of your use of 'catacomb'. I have explored three of the underground spaces in Edinburgh, and none had ponds, earthen floors or boulders. Mostly, they are not 'catacombs' in the strict sense of the word. What are you trying to represent? I'd guess it is meant to be a natural rather than man-made space, and that you expect the scene to involve very large underground spaces, with no narrow corridors. A typical catacomb passage is just wide enough for a person to pass through - often less than two feet.
Way too much thought into it for me…. Was going for something cool and fun for the game table. I guess I could have called the video “Walls with skeletons on it”. Thanks for the breakdown.
Which video did you show how you made the little texture tool?
ua-cam.com/video/mJS5JjTP1P4/v-deo.html
Nice vidéo John ! Do you think pastel is better than pigments ?
Thank you Patrick. Honestly I might just stick with the pastels from now on. Great assortment and cheaper in comparison to a "bottle" of pigment powder.
Where did you get that "favorite texturing tool"? (At time 3:11)
I made it :) I have a video where I talk about it. "Texture Rolling Pin" Video ... check it out.
They look good enough to eat.... choc chip brownie tiles :D
All it needs is a glass of milk.
@@TabletopWitchCRAFT with your mad skills I'm sure you could create a cool looking glass of milk 😁
It is pitch black. You are likely to be eaten by a grue...
Hang in there, I'm going to "brighten" things up in the next video!
Nice idea with the skeletons.....
But you puddle/pond color isn't very good.
I had prefered a clear, dark brown blackwater color........
Keep going on
Thanks...Yep you can obviously color the resin any way you like. I did a lot of research online before making these and every bit of water I saw had this green tint to it... could have been just me or the camera settings but I thought it looked cool.
"You can see the grid system, it's innovative..." No you can't, annnd, no it's not.
