Woooow how this series evolved! (Heh, get it, evolved?) This really just brings back memorys, and Im not even old enough to know what some of the adults must think of this, the ones that watched it since the beginning!
I have watched since day 1, I always around 6 yrs old or something like that, there is nothing like the couple first of seasons in the late 90s and early 00s, alongside the epic games from that generation, great times!
Kalos was the one season where Ash actually grew as a character. He actually put in the effort and learned what it was like to be a hero. Everything else was handed to him. The 6th season was more mature and honestly messed with our feelings. It was the one season where it felt like Ash had changed. He'd earnt his spot in the finals... and then Sun and Moon happened...
This one season showed us what Pokémon could be... what it should've been. Ash learning that he himself was special because he never gave up on anyone... not that life was easy. He learned who he was... All the other season barely touched on this because it was meant for kids. Which is why this show started off different, so different that they could end the season the way they did. Making us hope and ripping it away. A true masterpiece and the best season of Pokemon. From a story point of view, his infernape is his best mon imo. The detail put into that storyline was incredible and that match vs Paul remains my favourite in the franchise. Still gutted they took the easy way out that gen, still think that was his league to win
From a power pov, he’s Ash’s strongest fire type I understand everyone’s love for Charizard, but it’s most impressive win was one where he had a type advantage, yes Articuno was a legendary but it was kicking Charizard’s ass at some points in the fight Meanwhile, Infernape swept half of Paul’s team at the Sinnoh League, taking down Aggron, Ninjask and Electivire, growing exhausted while also being poisoned throughout the battle I know it had advantage over Aggron and Ninjask, but dude, Infernape KO’d Ninjask with Mach Punch, a weak attack that’s only 1/4th it’s average power output when used on Ninjask, THAT’S REALLY GOOD I’m not gonna stop, Charizard is cool and all, but Infernape is a beast

I‘ve made a bunch of these in my free time, for multiple OCs and they take ages especially if you’re creating your own story, but following someone else’s story told over 20 or so years is a challenge and a half.
Oh I hear yeah. I was trying to make my own Pokemon journey through the regions with different companions and Pokemon and it's a slog. *TL;DR version:* I made my own teams with moves and it took a really long time because of multiple factors and I'm scratching my head as to how Pokemon got through 24 years of this. *Long version:* I made it through making teams for my regions and let me just say it was tiring. I decided to mostly take Pokemon that native to the region I'm so choosing would be easier. This with the exception of Kalos where I had a regionally diverse team because of one of the rules I set being trying my hardest to not repeat Pokemon of Ash's or his friends Pokemon, narrowing it down to Pokemon I like and think would be cool in an anime setting (ex. I really like Floette but don't see myself using it in the anime) and for Kalos's extremely small dex, it was slim pickings. But after picking Pokemon I also had to pick moves which is something I did not think would be hard but absolutely is. The way the anime works is that moves you would see on a Pokemon or Pokemon that knows both close range and long range moves(ex. Focus Blast and Headbutt on Ash's Scraggy). I've deduced this may be due to both more moves being accessible to a Pokemon as well as Pokemon having different types of attacking options. It would make sense why you would want a physical attacker knowing a special attack or 2 instead of just physical attacks. So I had to look the Pokemon I was going to use's moves and see which moves would work for a battle while also being unique and interesting for the Pokemon. I tried to limit myself by not giving repeat moves to many times especially with Pokemon on the same team. I also tried to make use of some weaker moves since moves like Water Gun aren't exactly "weak" in the anime. In general I just thought of their final moveset while also making sure their pre-evolutions learn some of said moves gradually. I wouldn't want a Pokemon's entire kit to be changed by evolving. I also checked anime move descriptions on Bulbapedia to know how the move is generally used in Pokemon. I actually watched this video to see the average # of Pokemon caught and evolved per badge so I could use it as a base. All of this spanning over days of research. It was fun thinking about different Pokemon, their moves and personalities but it really is something else. And I still have companions to think about. How did Pokemon do this for 24 years now.
Not gonna lie but his team in the latest pokemon journey seems decent to me, altough get ready to get one of his strongest pokemon being released and get triggered
I personally love the XYZ series and the team Ash has in it.1st reason is Ash-greninja, i don't have to tell about greninja and the second reason is because all of them care for eachother and work together like hawlucha cares for noivern and noivern cares for hawlucha and this applies to the entire team
I think you missed at least a couple of pokemon: The haunter he got and gave to Sabrina and the beedrill he caught and gave to the electabuzz supporter. Anyway great job!
The Beedrill appeared on the list below, not in the top party, and he never caught the haunter, it accompanied him to Sabrina's gym and stayed there but it was never Ash's pokemon.

I‘ve made a bunch of these in my free time, for multiple OCs and they take ages especially if you’re creating your own story, but following someone else’s story told over 20 or so years is a challenge and a half.
Oh I hear yeah. I was trying to make my own Pokemon journey through the regions with different companions and Pokemon and it's a slog.
*TL;DR version:* I made my own teams with moves and it took a really long time because of multiple factors and I'm scratching my head as to how Pokemon got through 24 years of this.
*Long version:* I made it through making teams for my regions and let me just say it was tiring. I decided to mostly take Pokemon that native to the region I'm so choosing would be easier. This with the exception of Kalos where I had a regionally diverse team because of one of the rules I set being trying my hardest to not repeat Pokemon of Ash's or his friends Pokemon, narrowing it down to Pokemon I like and think would be cool in an anime setting (ex. I really like Floette but don't see myself using it in the anime) and for Kalos's extremely small dex, it was slim pickings.
But after picking Pokemon I also had to pick moves which is something I did not think would be hard but absolutely is. The way the anime works is that moves you would see on a Pokemon or Pokemon that knows both close range and long range moves(ex. Focus Blast and Headbutt on Ash's Scraggy). I've deduced this may be due to both more moves being accessible to a Pokemon as well as Pokemon having different types of attacking options. It would make sense why you would want a physical attacker knowing a special attack or 2 instead of just physical attacks. So I had to look the Pokemon I was going to use's moves and see which moves would work for a battle while also being unique and interesting for the Pokemon. I tried to limit myself by not giving repeat moves to many times especially with Pokemon on the same team. I also tried to make use of some weaker moves since moves like Water Gun aren't exactly "weak" in the anime. In general I just thought of their final moveset while also making sure their pre-evolutions learn some of said moves gradually. I wouldn't want a Pokemon's entire kit to be changed by evolving. I also checked anime move descriptions on Bulbapedia to know how the move is generally used in Pokemon.
I actually watched this video to see the average # of Pokemon caught and evolved per badge so I could use it as a base. All of this spanning over days of research. It was fun thinking about different Pokemon, their moves and personalities but it really is something else. And I still have companions to think about. How did Pokemon do this for 24 years now.

It was his final match with Gary. Ash wanted to prioritize power over speed this match so he chose to keep Pikachu with Misty and Brock.

The Beedrill appeared on the list below, not in the top party, and he never caught the haunter, it accompanied him to Sabrina's gym and stayed there but it was never Ash's pokemon.
