Completely agree re: Fairly tale business cases. I've seen organisaions set up projects to produce business cases for innovation projects! Ultimately they result in complete project fail because the figures didn't resemble anything like reality when the project delivers. I have a 'Managing innovative projects' course on Udemy.com that comes with a free 42 page e-book. It covers how to produce a business case that's fit for purpose for innovation.
