It may have something to do with the fact this knife was designed by a new 17 year old knife designer and he choose to go with Artisan as his OEM. Sometimes new knife designers have to go through the kickstarter, or preorder process before production.
Because materials and work still cost money and this way they don't invest in something that's not going to do well, it's a win for the buyer and the company as the people that support get a huge deal for backing the project and they get to put something into work that otherwise would have never happened
The kickstarter discounted prices aren't super bad, but thinking you're gonna get $300 for a micarta/titanium folder with S35vn seems pretty steep to me. Could get a knife from WE, Miguron, Kunwu or many others with better materials for cheaper imo.
The Kickstarter disclaimer is a little scary because it stated even if you pledge the money you may not receive the knife. Artisan should leave a note guaranteeing delivery of paid product. This is the only reason I won’t pull the trigger. I really want the mirror/Timascus and have the funds, but I’m not willing to risk non-delivery on a knife this expensive even though it is absolutely beautiful and totally bad a$$!

I definitely want the Timascus version, but not sure if I should get the mirror polish blade. I intend for this to be a user that I will carry. I won’t be using it for anything too rough, but just typical EDC office tasks. Will the mirror polish blade scratch easily? Would I be better off with the sand polish blade?
I'd go with the sand polish and you save enough that you could send it out for a stonewash, acid wash or whatever you like. Might be worth getting two and then swapping the blades to sell off the polished s90v to get more money back just selling the non-timascus one and the s35vn blade will be perfect for sending to be modded simce you've made some money back or whatever. But yeah sand polish should be fine I'd imagine.

Those are fire ! And I don't see a problem with the ti mascus lock bar . not any different then a ti lock bar is it ? Knife steel nerds has even done a video on how some pattern welded steel can increase toughness or edge rention depending on the pattern an such. It was his most recent vid on damascus check it out if you get time 🤷♂️ thanks for the heads up on the knives !
I went to preorder this today and apparently it closed today. Oh well. Maybe I'll pick one up after they release but I won't pay more than $200 for it, certainly not for S35VN. But hey real nice knife and the kid has a future in this business that's for sure.

@@kimbalxyz2 Artisan Cutlery knives always end up having huge discounts on them through their authorized retailers and if something ends up being wrong with the knife, you can usually get better customer service through them. Same thing is true with brands like CJRB and their other subsidiaries. If you buy direct, it's all fine and dandy, and you may get a good price, but if you need to return/exchange, you may run into some problems with them and their almost non-existance customer service, who may or may not respond, and even if they do, it could be a long time.
