I like that Bioware tossed this in. With Tali and Garrus you might be able to guess what was going on but had no real clue until near the end of ME3. This just seems more....realistic? In a funny way. I mean, put a bunch of attractive people in a tight knit group that faces death all the time, and romance is bound to bloom!

I just couldn't believe what I heard :p I realised before that iron bull was hitting on Dorian, but I honestly thought it was just to troll him (even though some of those pick up lines were seriously awkward and explicit) I seriously thought they kinda hated each other before that, although they sure talked a lot. Nice to have some original an solid background character dev in a game :)
I have two inquisitors: male Qunari and female Qunari. I created the male just FOR Dorian. He's so cute and sentimental under all that lavish sarcasm and proposed narcissism. Haha. He's a real doll. I created the female Qunari for two reasons: because I know I can get Sera to like me and I heard that Dorian sways to Iron Bull if a male inquisitor doesn't choose him or Iron Bull. I'm actually very happy for them. If my inquisitor, Hannibal Luthor, isn't with Dorian in his reincarnation as Xena, my female inquisitor, then it's only right that Dorian should be with Iron Bull. The big guy is a softy at heart and will protect the beautiful man-mage. Also, I'm sure he would never break Dorian's heart, since that's what matters most. Dorian just wants to be loved and to love in return. :)
I never thought I would ever support Yaoi being in my hobbies, choosing to pretend they aren't there when I encounter them in literature, shows, or games except for the cheap giggle the writers may intentionally invoke... but: Thank you Bioware for helping change that. In these dark and surreal western RPGs, those two deserve each other -and I always hope that after any epilogue, my party members move on to their own happy endings; even better when it is with each other. This is so Romeo and Juliet slash twisted its sweet. Pretty sure Dorian would say he plays a better Juliet than the original script though, better fashion and taste for sure he'd claim. Still notice there is a touch of that immaturity there, as they played the top/bottom angle for all the puns they could write. Just wish Bioware would stop trying to please all comers and give us more options within categories besides choose one of each orientation and that's it. Next iteration in the franchise you'll have the option of romancing your mount or Mabari at the rate they are going.

It's not that he's ashamed - he's just confused. I suspect both of them thought it would be a one-night fling, but it took off, and neither of them are experienced with commitment. It's not that uncommon really. I'm just impressed that Bull was even willing to settle down with one sex. Normally I'd have expected Dorian to catch feelings and Bull to let him down, but this is a much better and sweeter outcome.
Also, I think especially with Bull, context matters. Dorian has sort of spent his entire life being shamed for his preferences, going so far as to have his own dad use blood magic to change him and all that (how's that for praying the gay away? *shudders*), so he has Reasons to be cautious about this. The Inquisitor hasn't experienced anything as drastic as this and comes from a culture somewhat more open about sexuality in general and homosexuality in particular, so if you, as a very firmly established leader, can not admit to having a serious relationship with him to your closest advisers under these circumstances, that's a lot less excusable than Dorian's uncertainties. And since Bull is a people person, he'd totally get that.
I think Bull is just playing favorites and was ensnared by Dorian's undeniable charm. I'm a female and I can't resist him and I KNOW I don't stand a chance. He's so confident, and arrogant, and sassy and yet shy and insecure.

Does anyone know if this cuts of romance possibilities with both characters? Because I haven't had an option to pursue a relationship with either in the game, although not from lack of trying, and I need to know if I should go back to a previous save to sadly stop it from happening.
It only happens if you don't romance either of them so if I guess if you get to the ending point of the game where a romance wouldn't be possible then I can see it happening then. If you flirt with the Iron Bull enough and do his companion quest which I think is started after having a high enough approval rating. After that, one of the next times you talk to him you can officially start the romance. But then there's another quest you have to do to make it official. Same with Dorian except it's a lot easier to start.
Hmm. I hadn't been to the Winter Palace yet, so it was... kind of close to the ending point? I can't enter into a relationship with Dorian, sadly, I seem to be one of the people who was hit by the bug that keeps his quest from starting. If you're going to complain about a game having too many homosexual relationship, you should also complain about games that have way too many heterosexual relatioships. In some cases, games only have heterosexual relationships. Also, this BDSM "shit" is not exclusive to Dorian. If a female inquisitor romance Iron Bull, you will find out that they do BDSM "shit" as well. Finally, just because you don't think DAI is a masterpiece, does not mean it isn't. For example, I think DAI is the best Dragon Age game. I truly think it is a masterpiece. On the other hand, I find DAO to be flawed. See? Everyone has opinions. Perhaps if Bioware spent less time on trying to appeal to their disgusting fanbase and more time on crafting a beautiful and realistic story much like Dragon Age Origins then it would be considered a masterpiece by all rights.
I have no issue with homosexual's nor their nightly activities but I don't want to be exposed to it unless I go looking for it. Dragon Age 1 executed this wonderfully by giving the player full control of their experience and allowing them to be with who they wanted. It's not ignorance, its an opinion.

First of all, if you don't want to see or hear Dorian and Iron Bull flirt, then do not bring them with you. You are not "exposed" to it unless you watch these videos or have them in your party.
Second, what do you mean "disgusting fanbase" and "beautiful and realistic story"? News flash: homosexuality and BDSM are realistic. To some, its considered beautiful.
Third, you don't hear gay people complaining about games having way too many heterosexual relationships and "shit" like that. In Origins, theres so many straight "shit" being shoved in peoples throat. If you're going to complain about a game having too many homosexual relationship, you should also complain about games that have way too many heterosexual relatioships. In some cases, games only have heterosexual relationships. Also, this BDSM "shit" is not exclusive to Dorian. If a female inquisitor romance Iron Bull, you will find out that they do BDSM "shit" as well.
Finally, just because you don't think DAI is a masterpiece, does not mean it isn't. For example, I think DAI is the best Dragon Age game. I truly think it is a masterpiece. On the other hand, I find DAO to be flawed. See? Everyone has opinions. Different people with different beliefs exists around the world. You're not the only person living here on Earth.
