I kinda wanna share my view on Mojang and hear what people think. And if you disagree with me, that's fine and I respect that! Something I feel like people are not realizing the effort Mojang puts on their updates. One of the earlier hated updates, Buzzy Bees, seemed to just add bees and some items related to them. But in reality, it was an update focused on stability and performance, and a lot of people didn't realize that. I've also been seeing a lot of improvements and additions to datapack related stuff and what they can do in the recent snapshots. The functionality of most, if not all items can be changed with tags and datapacks, and I don't see nearly enough people talking about that. I also wanna bring some attention to the Nether Update. I have seen a few people compare recent updates with it and call Mojang lazy for not nearly having the same amount of content. Kingbdogz, a developer at Mojang said in one of his tweets that "The Nether Update was also one of the most stressful updates we've ever developed," and I feel like people who compare updates with the Nether Update doesn't realize this. Of course, modders have made a bunch of mods that adds a lot of new content. But I don't think they're automatically better than Mojang because there's more content. They can add stuff without thinking about how it impacts the game, because it's their mod. They don't have to think about how it affects the game and they don't have to implement it on 2 different versions. (To be clear, I respect modders and the work they do. They really do a lot for the game) One of the reasons the bundle took so long was because they had issues getting it on Bedrock edition. Though, I don't know what the issue was. Was it on how to implement touch controls and support for controllers? Was it that the system for handling items and inventories in Bedrock was very different? I don't know. But what I do know is that I have no knowledge about what happens behind the scenes, and I don't feel like it's fair to come to sudden conclusions when I don't even know what's going on. I do feel like 4 years is a bit too much, but for all I know, maybe there was an actually good reason for it. Or maybe Mojang actually are just lazy. I wouldn't know. Another controversy was the Cave Update being split up into 2 parts and then 2 more updates to add the things that didn't get added to the other 2. I can understand why people would be calling them lazy, but I feel like they forget that their previous update (Nether Update) was stressful and they were trying to make an update even bigger than that, and that it was also during a pandemic. I really appreciate every update Mojang does, both big and small. I paid $26.95 for the game 11 years ago, and since then, Mojang has not seen a single penny from me. And yet, the game is still being updated all these years. For me, I think that's worth more than the $26.95 I have given them. I apologize for the amount of text. I understand that the upcoming content in this update is pretty small, and I agree that it would've been nicer for them to add a bit more. I just wanted to get this out there and understand more on why people feel the way they do about Mojang. If you disagree with me then that's okay.
The problem is, that Mojang is fu*king with peoples heads. Almost everyone expects from Minecraft LIVE something exciting but this time it was just bunch of nothingnes and it could be just thrown into some blogpost and nobody would care.
you guys quite stupid. They announced this time they would not announce an uptade like 1.21, 1.20. 1.19..ecc, from now on they will release DROPS of new content that are not the NORMAL UPTADES. Bandles of braviery was one, this is one too. Also remember they are doing all of this for FREE and it is hard to make new content that doesn't break the gameplay loop!
What if I told you that at one of the announcements, Mojang presented us with: >one redstone component >one almost empty biome >two pretty same forest biomes, just of opposite colors (still empty for any new mobs) >two mobs without any useful functionality >snapshots that started coming out six months after the announcement In 2024, half of the community would call Mojang lazy for very flat update without any usable feature. Modders will add all content probably in two weeks. But it was a 2019 Minecon. Go watch it, because this announcement was SO bad, but release version was SO good, it's actually funny to see in retrospective. It was 1.16, if you don't wanna watch Minecon. And I feel if Mojang will announce End update like this, people will just get mad and raid their office
i believe that mojang is showing us a skeleton of what is to come in the update. obviously there could be more added to it, and in the live they've even said that everything could be subject to change.. i 100% believe, too, that they're more willing to be in tune with the community to make this biome better as well, but it may not immediately be taken into effect. i'm fine with smaller updates.. larger updates means more time between them, and less time playing the game because i've already experienced all of what has come out and gotten used to it.
I understand Mojang. In recent years the community was always like "Mojang's doing stupid things.", but I also feel like this isn't going in the right direction either.
As much as I agree with this, I don't mind too much the slower pace that Minecraft updates. One of the reasons I like Minecraft so much is that it doesn't feel cluttered, but it still provides the building blocks required to do so much. An end update would be good, but I'd rather they kept the vast empty feeling of the end while still making it somewhere you'd want to go more than however long it takes to get an elytra and a shulker farm. An inventory update would be good if done well. Item filters are already in the game with redstone so. Let's not forget that if every update was like the nether update, the game would quickly spiral into a cluttered mess.
dude its just a small update like 1.20.5 with armored paws, they said there will still be bigger themed updates just obviously not as often as these game drops.
Omg... You are soo right. They could have added soo many nice and intresting and expected thing, but nooo... Let's turn this nice game into a horror game. They will probably build a new dimension before they will think to update the end. I am very very disapointed. I was ok with the other updates (the cherry biome, the deep dark, the trial chamber) but this one.... NO NO NO. I hate it and it didnt even released yet. Except the bundel... If it is portable inventory i will take it.... Meh.
That's what I'm saying. We got a mob that drops NOTHING and brings 0 value to the game, a biome that is supposed to feel "spooky" when in reality it's another ugly biome that everyone will skip and ugly plank variants that will most likely be never used.
can people be grateful for what minecraft is doing? these people are working their asses off and everyone just complains that it wasn't enough. grow up.

I agree with some of what you said. Yes Mojang is working hard to make us these updates. But I still gotta say, for the millions of dollars they have, and the huge development teams they have. They could give us a LITTLE more than a biome and mob. But this is a good update. People need to stop be entitled babies

The community should be happy because Mojang adds whatever they want to the game (which is good, because it means they haven't ran out of ideas!). I'm one of the people who wants the end update, but I think it's more important mojang shows us whatever they want to, not just what the community does. Do you prefer not having any news? Maybe it's small like that because it'll come out on Halloween, which would also explain the horror theme
People really are having a hard time grasping the concept of having multiple small updates as opposed to one big one.
It's Mojang's own fault for that. Don't advertise small update in it's own showcase. People automatically expect something big from that.
