Lag 16 is my favorite but I do love the Lagavulin 8! Beautiful, crisp, coastal, vanilla, apple - delicious and with slightly rough edges! I love it! Fabulous!! I pay about $100.00 in Canada so it's not as cheap as other places but still considering it's quality I am fine with the price and grab it often! Cheers!
Laga 8 beautiful dram. Fresh crispy fruuty peaty just lovely. I bought it at Amazon on sale for £38. For this price all day long. Nice review. Cheers 👍😁🥂🙋🏻♂️
Excellent Review. Thanks. Thought you may want to hear what this currently sells for in Ontario, Canada. The govt liquor store, LCBO, sells the 8 YO for C$110 and the 16 YO for C$185!! I bought two bottles a few years ago just before the prices started rising and have yet to crack them open. Paid about C$140!
If you like getting a nice massage with a firm grip, take the 16. If you like to be punched in the face, take the 8. I honestly like the 16 just a tiny bit more. If it came with the same specs as the 8, it wouldn't even be a competition. But 43 abv, colour and chill filtration seem to tame it a bit, while the 8 feels more unrestrained.
Great notes 👍 My favourite Lagavulin is any batch of the 12 year old, but this comes a close second. I much prefer it to anything else they do, including the 16 year old.
To me, they're pretty close on quality, and the choice likely comes down to personal preference ... which only supports the argument that the Lag 8 is overpriced since it cost about $12 or so more. Where do you come out?
Bought myself a bottle as my annual Christmas treat and have to say at the present time I have put it back in the box and shoved it into a cupboard as I currently don't like it at all Have found the smoke overwhelming and could still taste it after a couple of hours 😢

That's about right after the conversion. Cheers!
@@whiskywhereabouts Cheers!! Happy Holidays!! 🙂
Just got a bottle about a week ago and I'm interested to see if it opened up as you say. Thanks for the tasting notes.
It's a pretty good whisky. Cheers!

Yeah, that's a little high, even after the conversion, and doesn't make either much of a bargain ...
Haven't had either one yet trying to deicide which one to try, purchase. Cheers

The 12 is something different, but this one is definitely nice.
On the nose:- pure Tequila! Not my favourite. But with that being said. The smoky note is excellent. It is a great tasting whisky.
Your thoughts on the Lagavulin 8 vs. the Ardbeg 5 Wee Beastie. Cheers...

I got it for around 55 Euros in a holiday/BF sale, my current favorite, and at this price was a steal

In my market the 8 is 92.99 and the 16 is 93.99. For that I think I’d rather get the 16.
That's strange, and it doesn't leave much choice, does it?
@@whiskywhereabouts yeah it’s extremely weird.
Compared it to Port Charlotte 10,a few days ago.
PC 10 is so much better.
Yeah, that's not close ...
@@whiskywhereabouts Difference is only € 9 .
I'm not saying that I don't like Lagavulin,but it's a little bit overhyped,like Macallan.
