Written not by the League but by Scott Richardson and Mick Ronson for "Ronson's 1974 debut solo album Slaughter on 10th Avenue, released shortly after leaving David Bowie's backing band The Spiders from Mars" (Wikipedia). The League seem to have had writer's block their entire career, judging by the number of covers and the struggles to produce albums.
This was a TV Talkshow for a very senior audience. Nobody below 50 watched this. So, presenting early 1980 THL with their slideshow was pretty much revolutionary and avantgarde.
I feel my spirit fly, only after dark I kiss the world goodbye, only after dark Nights with the city lights, only after dark Run like the wonder way, only after dark Won't you disappear into midnight again Why don't you come, why won't you come Why won't you fly, fly, fly with me Sweet elusive fate will be our company Ring out the vamp in me, only after dark Moon sinful as can be, only after dark It's wrong to feel so free, only after dark Only you do it to me, only after dark Won't you disappear into midnight again Why don't you come, why won't you come Why won't you fly, fly, fly with me Sweet elusive fate will be our company
I think the audience wasnt "prepared" for HL. Unfortunately I am too young to see them in TV or live in the 80s.😔But I saw them live in 2018 or 2019 in Hamburg. It was awesome.
I really think that's harsh to say dare was the human leagues last good album I think octopus was excellent and secrets and credo are both really good, I think all of the other albums all have there moments too
oh glubbits their following albums had moments. But they seemed to lack the courage to step beyond what was trendy. Of course we would get some more classics like The Lebanon and John Cleese. But their first three LPs capture most accurately futurist archetype of The Human League
I wish I did really! Only have the ones already posted by others!! They was something uploaded about a Year ago by someone who put up the Empire State Human (Generation 80 Performance (Original Master Copy!!!!) ) BUT it was taken off by the You Tube Informers!!!!!! :0(
Hmm, I was wondering about the crowd's reaction. Wonder if they thought it was good, bad, or totally flummoxed as to why a bunch of Brits are doing the German electro thing. We will never know.
I never heard about an amateur with a Korg conceiving two masterpieces like Reproduction and Travelogue. Are you kidding? I like Dare too, i loved when adolescent Hysteria and Crash, but not now. Secrets is a good album, Credo a mediocre album. But the best works are the first two. I agree, they were not virtuoso (as well as Joy Division or Sex Pistols) but they were full of creativity.
ISAT UNA LOCURA EL MEJOR CANAL DE LA HISTORIA
I like how Ware is pretty enthusiastic co-singer, while Marsh and Wright are in their Kraftwerk phase.
Well, Wright's job was to show slides, not perform.
Early Human League = the perfect Human League. The way it was intended to be...
I agree love the first 4 albums
Indeed, my friend! The REAL Human League.

I used to spend every summer holiday in Germany as a kid, and I remember watching this.
Bates Motel on the slide show - another classic.
so ahead of his time

I watched it....I was 19 years old then....we all watched this
@@thomaschristoph9139 Me too. And I was a kid. Maybe 12 or 14 years old. There were not much music shows on TV, so we grabbed all, that we could. :)
Saw them live Leeds Uni 78. Slide show and all.In sept or Oct I think
excellent footage i love it......i wish i got to see em live from 78-81
They split up very shortly after this, so I'd imagine tensions were very strained! Great footage of the original line up.
One leather driving glove, great touch Phil xxx
Electro-Minimal-Synth-Pop Music at its best !!
Mmmm......... Beautiful. I love this song
my god this is superb!never seen this, love the pre dare human league, real quality, thanks so much for posting this interjet :)
I remember their wonderful slide-shows. Adrian Wright was a genius.
I saw him buying a train ticket at Sheffield station when I was a student. I was in awe
I feel my spirit fly, only after dark
I kiss the world goodbye, only after dark
Nights with the city lights, only after dark
Run like the wonder way, only after dark
Won't you disappear into midnight again
Why don't you come, why won't you come
Why won't you fly, fly, fly with me
Sweet elusive fate will be our company
Ring out the vamp in me, only after dark
Moon sinful as can be, only after dark
It's wrong to feel so free, only after dark
Only you do it to me, only after dark
Won't you disappear into midnight again
Why don't you come, why won't you come
Why won't you fly, fly, fly with me
Sweet elusive fate will be our company

Excellent find. thanks!

Not the same band as this one. Not by a long way. Just a retro pop hits combo now.
Very Classic!!
The idea of the early Human League was later fulfilled by Ian Craig Marsh and Martyn Ware with Glen Gregory with Heaven 17...
Yeah, Dare was the last good Human League album, all their early stuff is just soooooo cutting edge!

That audience needs to calm down.
Tough crowd!

Great idea to get the girls in!
And 40 years later you find Heaven 17 singing it……!!!!
yello biafra glove :)
Early League is the best League
The Human League was better before the two women joined the band.
No, this is terrible. Doesn't transcend the level of amateurs with a Korg.
I never heard about an amateur with a Korg conceiving two masterpieces like Reproduction and Travelogue. Are you kidding? I like Dare too, i loved when adolescent Hysteria and Crash, but not now. Semolina Pilchard what? 1979-1980 was their most original material! I mean come on. It doesn’t get much better than Dreams Of Leaving!
Fredrika Holm things happened, they made the choice ,and they needed to carry on
HAH HAH HAH,.That's so bad.
Wow, they were so bad then. Good thing they brought in those two ladies later. Epic!
This is the best Human league classic timeless
