Zone 8b here. Just put in 2 metal raised beds… took a while because the back yard is on a slope. I wanted to give them time to get established and fill the bottom with leaves. I also have a Greenstalk. I plan on putting herbs in the Greenstalk. For the raised beds, I’m thinking lettuces, chard, kale, green beans (spring). Also peppers and tomatoes, and winter squashes.
Florida zone 9a. Fruit trees for the past year. Learn to clone several fruit trees and graft a grape vine of my cousin onto my dad's grape orchard. Now. I need to master vegetables for my plant based lifestyle. I have some transplant blue collar and baby starters my cousin gave me. Growing slowly this present day. 2nd set of seed bok choy. Tried okra and Cantaloupe last summer from seed. They came up out the ground then the heat burned them up. So i need to be on time this spring for Planting before the summer hot heat take over. Please advised. Retired and back on the family estate where nothing is no longer Growing on the south 40, but my cousin does well on the north side. Looking forward to spring as well as what can happen now. I have two raisedbeds of greens and herbs and one with strawberries. I am trying to root a organic Japanese purple potato i got from the Rollins Oats store.
@@AGardenersJourneyHomestead no grow light. One in the house near a window and the others in the shed outside. Should i get a grow light for inside the house and the shed?
I took my radish and placed it in a jar of water. It grew an inch or two in water. A week ago, I planted it in soil. It’s on my window sill. We’ll see. Should I move it to the grow light? Or would the grow light be too strong? Afraid it will burn. It’s delicate right now. I purchased a pack of collard seeds but am not sure when to Plant. I was thinking about planting the seeds in my home using a grow light, maybe in February. Then move them to my deck in March. I’m in the Seattle area where you never know about the weather. Do you think this will work? I plan to look for starter tomatoes in March, get them established using my grow light and move to my deck as weather permits. I’m starting slow, using my grow light before moving to my deck. This way I save my seeds from the squirrels. Thanks so much for the videos.
This is a well thought out, well paced series.
Thank you!
What helps me is having a calendar with a list of different vegetables and it tells me what month to plant them in.
What calender do you use?
Great tip and way to stay organized!
Thanks for sharing part 3 on how to start a garden. Also to learn how to plant and what to plant.
I live in the Caribbean I don’t have frost I have rainy season and dry season
Yes very different there-more tropical I would imagine.
Direct sow, start seeds and transplant. All year round hopefully. I have started kale, collards bokchoy and cabbage
That is great!

Great video! Very informative, lots of great info, wish I had this when I first started gardening.
Thanks!
As a very beginner I got seeds and pots from dollar tree and invested in what I thought was good soil.
Ok no problem-start where you can on seeds and pots. Always be particular about your soil.

Sounds like you have a lot of stuff going -keep it up! Yes, try planting earlier since your climate can tend to be hotter quicker and longer.
My seedlings look weak which i started in the house and some under the shed.
@@727marshal727 Weak how? Are they under grow light in house?

Do you have an area you can go ahead and put the radish in the ground?
