Lovely video. I always enjoy seeing your garden developing over the years! The plant you always call Bee Balm in your garden tours looks like it’s a Centaurea species and not a Bee Balm, which is a Monarda species. Just wanted to make sure you knew the difference. Monardas are in the mint family and are very fragrant and medicinal, compared to Centaureas (which are in the Daisy family and typically without much scent or medicinal value). The differences are important to note, especially for those watching that may not be aware. ❤
Every year your garden gets better & better~ you mentioned an area of purple blooms and called it bee balm. I believe you meant Centaurea montana, the perennial cornflower, mountain cornflower, bachelor's button, montane knapweed or mountain bluet.
Great idea with the tool belt! My husband also used to work construction. Not sure he will let me have it though. The walk at the end of the day/next morning to see what you have actually accomplished is so familiar 😅 Beautiful! (I also loved Juliet clomping in the big garden clogs 😊)
I love it when the days of just easy weeding a self seeded flower garden! I have planted many perennials this year... I'd love to get a load of mulch, but I can only buy a few bags at a time! I love the days spent in my garden... Thanks for spending time with us while you garden. My husband's first time with the stirrup hoe also...much easier for him, too! He works mostly in the market veggie rows, though!
We loveeee our stirrup hoes and have been using them a few years. This year my mom found a mini hand held one!! Gonna have to get a mini one for myself too!
Love This!! 💚 I garden the same way - if it wants to grow let it😊 I see Lush Alive Lovely!!! My adult kids like “perfect” exact gardens (I call it subdivision gardens😄) they Are pretty - but my garden and yours gives me joy & peace☺ it gives them the figits😂
I was trying to think of a description of a typical groomed manicured suburban garden vs my chaotic cottage garden, I love your word subdivision garden
Haha I do the same thing and leave piles of weeds only to have to clean up the piles😂 thank you for sharing your home and garden! Beautifully authentic🌷
So grateful for your garden videos! We’re considering a move to central oregon from the Portland area. I was so worried about gardening in that environment since Portland is nearly year round garden production, but your videos are giving me so much inspiration for what can be done in a shorter season with colder winters and hotter/drier summers.
Long time viewer. I'm curious how you reconcile the traditional homemaker lifestyle but also being the primary moneymaker? I like the idea of making your house a home, but this seems to perpetuate this idea that women need to now make money and work but also carry the majority of the burden of childbearing, childrearing, and homemaking.
How is she perpetuating that? Did she say everyone has to do that? 🤦♀️ she is just sharing her pretty gardens, shes not trying to tell people how to live
The gardens are mainly her domain and Stu helps. Other areas are his domain. This is the way married people talk in case you didnt know. You come across as critical and bitter, there how’s that! 😂
Love it… I like when you talk to us not your husband. But whatever works for you. I’m a gardener also and yes if it wants to grow you best let it. I have so many peonies blooming right now you can’t kill them but lupines and fox glove are harder. It seems I want what I don’t have. I throw iris on the ditch bank and they grow and bloom. Also bleeding heart have seeded there.
I have been watching your past garden videos on repeat lately 🌼 Always such a joy to follow your garden journey! You guys put so much love and care into your gardens and it shows 💕 Thank you for sharing SO MUCH BEAUTY!
Happy birthday, Shaye! Your gardens are all so dreamy and cozy. I love your approach to life and the work that your family does. The Joy of the Lord just shines through!
I think you would enjoy Bakers Creek free Rare Seeds Catalog. The pictures are beautiful! The rare veg and flowers are incredible! Thats if you haven't gotten one yet.
Hey Shaye, thanks for the video 😊. I just can't grow lupine ,I even bought a plant last year and nothing 🤨. Your garedens have exploded since you started filming them, just gorgeous 😍. JO JO IN VT 💞
Got any ideas for getting out English ivy around a tree we moved from our house in the country to a smaller house it’s very shady which I’m learning to like the different shade foliage your property is beautiful those grass blades are a nuisance lol
Thank you for the tour of your garden. That stir up hoe thing that you have I have one also. But I would like to know how you sharpen it because I've not a clue.

I agree it's Centurea Montana or more commonly known as Bachelor Button💜💙
Yes I agree also, the flower is centaurea, or bachelor button. ❤️
But you have so many sunny areas on your property that you could grow some amazing bee balm!! 😁
Have a Happy Birthday Shaye 🎉, Do you know that you make gardening glamorous. 🌹

It’s called a horie knife and I can’t live without mine either.
What do you use it for?
We loveeee our stirrup hoes and have been using them a few years. This year my mom found a mini hand held one!! Gonna have to get a mini one for myself too!
Beautiful garden! A lot of work but the reward is worth all that. 😊

I'm outside of Spokane and we lost a bunch of roses over the winter too.

Very lovely video! So inspiring to me as we are developing our garden in a fairly new home! More garden material please😍
Gorgeous garden’s ❤
I really enjoy spending time in your garden.
hori hori
No really a hori hori.. is one of these, Trowel - Transplant or a Trowel - All Purpose from Jhonnys.
What you referred to as monarda is centaria blue perrenial bachelor buttons not bee balm .
When the kid walked away in the dad shoes 😂😂
Your garden looks gorgeous. I love it and get inspired to work in my own bed. ❤ thank you for sharing so much beauty with our world.
Sweet dog enjoying the garden!!!!!
Your gardens are mature and lovely. Lupines! We have a lot of those here in NH. Love them!

Lovely video! Garden goals!! ❤
WOW BEAUTIFUL HOME 🏡 STEAD LOOKS AMAZING AND AWESOME 👌 LOVE YOUR VIDEO 📹 😊😊😊🎉🎉🎉
That cold snap must have done it. All of my roses lived, but about half of each bush died. I lost a couple blackberry plants I had in pots though
Happy Birthday 🥂🍾
Almost Happy Birthday Shaye. What day is yours? Mine is the week after next. We're both May babies.
Lady of elegance... beautiful family beautiful garden...❤️

Hi there! Lovely garden! Can you please tell me what brand and make your espresso machine is? Thank you!

You say "my" all the time. Yet I don't see you doing this work all by yourself. It comes across as narcissistic.
The gardens are mainly her domain and Stu helps. Other areas are his domain. This is the way married people talk in case you didnt know. You come across as critical and bitter, there how’s that! 😂

Amazing garden! You look very beautiful without any makeup.
Happy birthday, Shaye! Your gardens are all so dreamy and cozy. I love your approach to life and the work that your family does. The Joy of the Lord just shines through!
Your tool looked like a Hori hori knife but it was hard to tell not having a close up. I love my hori and love getting them for garden friends.
It is a lot of work to keep the garden beautiful.
It sure is
That's the kind of garden I love
Love your natural garden Shaye!

Was the cat mint with the peonies and lupines? My lupines are up and peonies budding but my cat mint has no buds yet I'm confused 😂
