technicallyyyyy he’s using a slightly different scottish accent. his character is from edinburgh and james is from glasgow and he’s making his accent a tiny bit different because of the dialect
Forget Split forget the X-Men movies and Atonement and everything else he's been in, this is James McAvoy's best film and performance, really underrated
If people thought the film was brutal, they should read the book. McAvoy’s portrayal of Bruce was insanely accurate. Brilliant casting. The toned down nature of the film (in comparison to its source material) is just perfect. It manages to humanise this horrific character and somehow manages to make him likeable...
Not gonna lie, having read the book but not seen the film, I struggle to imagine James McAvoy in the role. He's just a bit too inherently likable, whereas the character in the book is one of the most irredeemably horrible people in fiction. But it makes a bit more sense if they've toned it down a bit. And honestly I can see that it would be necessary... a film that was completely true to the book would be almost unwatchable.
How are they gonna justify giving an Oscar to something like this? And also, these days it's no longer about good storytelling or good acting. It's about whether or not the film pushes the "correct" political agenda.
@@AutomaticDuck300 Pretty sure everyone was raving about Leo for an Oscar the same year for 'wolf of wall street'. James just went next level in every aspect. Surely that is more deserving?
@@bravoalley228 I know, he is the one and only we can't mistaken James McAvoy for any one else, no doubt about that, it just that, if DiCaprio were British, i imagine he would be like McAvoy.
+Julian Veritas it's original but from watching actual documentary video on vice and many other Scotland is having a drug problem it's worse than England.i don't know about the movie but it seems hero may come out of his addiction or may be or not
I liked Bruce Roberson from the start to the end of the movie. And I did feel sympathy for him and was rooting for him to get that promotion. In his situation he could either self-destruct alone and depressed or with a bang like he did, I'd prefer the latter any day.
Just watched it. Being from an Irvine Welsh novel, I knew what to expect and I knew it would not end well. James McAvoy's stunning performance meant that I actually ended up caring about Bruce and crying. He managed to convey the broken man under the despicable man veneer. Brilliant work.
"I used to be a good person" That could be the tagline for a prequel to this film if they ever wanted to show Bruce Robertson in his glory days at the top of his game when he wasn't crashing down!
This movie can make you laugh out loud, make you cry and sympathize with McAvoy-s character. Great movie, that is an emotional rollercoaster till the very end!
This trailer doesn’t describes movie at all. And this is a point why I like it ) This trailer is like a house of whitch, in the story of Hansel and Gretel )
This was an amazing movie. The acting and cinematography in this film was so well done, superb. If anyone has read the book, then you will know how well this movie was made and how excellent the story translates. Although, the movie does make Robertson more sympathetic than the book does. This was a change that I liked, because there were times in the book that it actually became hard to continue reading. Some things are better left out or in deleted scenes ;)
Finally watched this movie it’s so amazing! Far from your average film but in an amazing way and what a performance by James- I’ll most definitely be re-watching it at some point it’s the kind of film that just sticks in the mind
Damn, that's the movie I and the boys were watching when my older cousin brought vodka and forced us all to drink it. Nothing more fitting than this movie.
@@Skyvault_secrets I actually live in the Highlands but I have a flat in Edinburgh. Glasgow is generally much rougher, as is Dundee. Edinburgh actually has a really nice quality of life.

I discover James through this movie and was suprised by his acting skills. I just finished watching Glass and never been so amazed.
I thought this could be an interesting drama, but the trailer looks like a nice drug comedy
One of the best movies I've seen, it doesn't have much to do with drugs. The book was great, the movie is also very gritty and a bit dark
It's both

Néstor González it actually is more of a drama than this trailer shows. The film does contain dark humour here and there but the film is very dark.

Definitely not a movie to watch with the grandparents I see.
