Oddly enough, I don't get the medicinal smell off my skin! I love this one a lot! You should get a decant of Xerjoff Naxos and compare them! They are very similar! Great review as always my friend!
Such an epically delicious blend. Bought it right after first release and was blown away. This and Pure Tonka are my favorites from the line. Another very enjoyable review. 👍

Just sprayed the original formula for the first time, its incredible, massive cherry at the start but now coming down to the sweetness and vanilla, amazing piece of work, and yes as time goes on it just softens and matures into sweetness and warmth
I have an old (4+ years) bottle. I get the cherry note at the start that many talk about. One of Mugler's best fragrances (I also like Cologne). I'm looking for a niche/luxury version; some suggest Xerjoff Naxos, which is nice, but it's not Pure Havane.
I too have the first batch of this and you described it perfectly. I don't tend to wear it so much these days as I'm down to about 50ml left, so I'm trying to use it sparingly but it is an absolute delicious fragrance to own. Glad to see you're well and still posting videos, stay safe brother.

wow AC Sir , you have done it again (as usual)!! beautifully explained & spot on , all this time PH has been told and sold as a best tobacco frag when it is not (understandably for many it is) - i have observed tobacco appears just at a very last stage of its journey..especially once completely dried down.

I have Pure Havane and Pure Malt, like yours both from around 2015/2016, the thing is I rarely reach for them, I love the Cherry tobacco vibe from PH but normally end up going for Jaques bogart pour homme when I'm in the mood for my Cherry tobacco fix, it's a beast and I love it 😀😀😀

One of the first fragrances I picked up. I despised it at first because it smelled nothing like what I expected and that put me off. Looking back, I think I had expected it to smell like something closer to Aramis Tobacco Reserve, which is a fantastic fragrance in it's own right. Regardless, Pure Havane is easily in my top 5 of all time, though I'd always say it's my favourite when I'm wearing it.
Very good review AC. I used to like this fragrance but for some reason that changed recently, I totally agree with you regarding the cough medicine part which bothers me very much, in general it’s too screechy synthetic for me with very bad performance.
AC you nailed it! Thank you for mentioning the sour aspect of this fragrance. No one ever mentions it! That's also why it's not for me. It's a very well blended fragrance. I'm just not a fan of sour honey tobacco combinations. And there are many. I prefer my tobacco dry or creamy. I've been enjoying Virtus by Navitus. It's a sweet and creamy tobacco.

Excellent review as usual and I agree with much of what u have said apart from the fact that to my nose the tobacco note is quite prominent indeed and its combo with the honey is what gives off that medicinal/boozy cherry like accord in the opening. As with the tar opening in the original A*Men I have come to appreciate the medicinal cherry like opening of Pure Havane...maybe because I know that it has to be like that for there to be the lovely development of the scent as the notes separate, distinguish and assimilate themselves. Following the opening, the scent develops into a cherry/vanilla/cacao cigar like accord...especially from about half hour after applying and throughout the heart and into the drydown where the tobacco begins to subside a bit and the vanilla/cacao/styrax become more prominent giving it a distinctly semi gourmand quality. At all times though the tobacco is very much present giving it that very aptly named 'Havane' feel. Pure Havane to my mind...like the original A*Men, is a masterpiece in designer perfumery...a wonderful smelling fragrance, and an absolute steal for the price. Mine is the 'Thierry Mugler' named formulation as well.

Then I checked ur video on the latter and then went with EN Sport in the end. It was a steal. Got the 50 ml for under £13 ☺️. So yes definitely very lucky indeed 👍

I haven't reviewed that mate. In fact after the reformulation I didn't bother getting it. Le Male is one of my absolute favorites but I could not reconcile with the reformulated version :)

James, I’ve tried the newer version, still hanging onto my vintage also. I thought the opening in the newer version is a bit more harsh and takes longer to settle on the skin, before you start to get that cherry note come through. Didn’t wear it long enough to make a comparison on the dry down.

Naxos, is a much more expensive and inferior ( in terms of complexity) fragrance than this mate. You really have to try this.

Lot of people are praising Pure Tonka Joao, its a shame I haven't tried that one yet. I will see if I can get hold of it.
