I am a ft2000 user from some years ago. I couldn`t see any difference between rigs in this test. Too much band noise and not optimum settings for both rigs. I am sure no one will hear more than the other with proper settings. I like ergonomics on FT2000, sure would not be dissapointed with TS590 if had one on my table :). By the way, Why don´t you switch on the VRF filter on FT2k?, please read manual and test this. With real antennas, this tool, along with rf gain settings, can minimise problems with strong HF broadcasts, sometimes reducing noise floor. Also, can be used to fine tune band noise level on low bands (80/160m) reducing fatigue. Smeter signal is not important, improving Signal/Noise ratio is the goal, both rigs have enough tools to play with. 73 es DX.
Why do you move the camera around so fast. You not telling us what you are comparing. Does the FT-2000 have the ACOC filter in it or is it stock? Re-make the video please with more information.
if you go to 1:57 minutes, you can see the settings dell'FT2000, the PRE-AMP1 is on, also if you listen well ts590 with or without pre-amp has an high noise.
Bad config of FT2000 ... FLT off... R.FLT on 6 kHz (must be 3)... It better with AC0C NS filter. Settings of menu 090 to 093 menu of FT2000 ..? Best regards, Ludovic - F5PBG

@conorturton
and the filters are wide open on the 590,something 5 or 6k while they look to be at about 2800 on the FT-2000...

Kenwood TS-590S is the best radio on today's markets,
sold a ft2000 and get a ts-590.
No way, 590 is a really killer
The station you ate copying is weak, so hard to tell from the video. Which one sounded better in your opinion?

This video proves the FT-2000 is MUCH better than that over hyped upgraded 570D that only performs well in scientific laboratories.
Va bene il Ts590 ? wow
FT-2000 sounds better for me
the FT-2000 sounds better
the ts 590 is better so far.
yaesu rulez :)
FT2000 is better, without any chances!
ft-2000 better for me
