For all the running down of the Nissans that you auto hacks do, while sucking upto the likes of the Brezzas and Venues as better cars/products, I think if Nissan comes in and sticks with that sort of disruptive pricing, this crossover is going to be a great bang for buck, and is going to literally cross over/straddle the segments of the sub-compact SUVs as well as the so-called premium hatchbacks. Here's to Nissan for daring to go the extra mile, and offer a product under ₹ 10 lakhs, whereas the equivalent variant likes of your much-praised to the skies Venues and Sonets literally rip customers off a good 3 lakhs or more! All that fancy electronics - is it really required? Takes all the fun out of driving a car (or riding a motorcycle), and produces multitudes of unskilled nincompoop drivers! Having not known the price, felt the interiors were very plasticy, inferior n seemed cheap with monotonous grey making it worse. But for that price, this loads features and is quite commendable. Magnite looks good on the outside, with its minimal chrome detailing, a good grill n excellent paint quality. Certainty, a vehicle for first time buyers or for upgrades from a very basic hatchback.
If this was Maruti car Low cost engineering would have been adored as Marvel's and innovative features.... Compare this car with any premium hatchback or middle models of this so called compact SUVs and u will get the results loud and and clear...

I think Nissan has very smartly bridged the gap between pr. hatchbacks and sub 4m suvs. I feel that the review was pretty biased and kept testing the quality and drivability against prior experience of a premium suv or sedans. This car shouldn't be tested and reviewed against any segment except the premium hatchbacks. I believe it is a very good upgrade option for hatchback owners. @OVERDRIVE - If i may request, kindly keep your reviews informative for the targeted customer segment and provide right comparison with the available choices to this target segment. Currently, as pointed by others as well, your reviews make the car look bad even to every potential car owner.
I feel for Nissan , they have done a lot right, and it looks great, thought the from does remind me of a Datsun, and rear a little of the Triber, the interiors though mordern are men (except the ac vents and knobs), it feels like acres of plastic , the head unit looks like something from a segment lower . And because of the Indian consumer mindset this wil hurt them. I hope it’s priced right
I think the reviewer is bit confused and biased. Firstly I like the looks of the car far better than Ignis, new i20 whatever it's competition. The biggest thing is the price.(if it's good as speculated) I think it's good bang for the buck
I don't think this car is meant for competing directly with compact SUVs even though the dimensions are similar. This car is mainly for people looking to upgrade from a hatchback like a WagonR and if reviewed from that standpoint, it will certainly feel a better product. Of course they did cost cutting wherever possible but it still scored 4 stars in safety ratings.
So Venue/Sonet are sharp handling cars huh?😂🤣..A very good 'paid' review with proper justifications for overpriced Korean tin cans😂(Didnt Compare it with segment's best handler ES). Talking tins can,Even though magnite too is a one compared to some others(read desis),it will definitely score better than Seltos, even Dastun scored better😂.And talking about how well Nissan ages,my 6.5 year old CVT micra has zero rattling even today. And serves the purpose of 'No nonsense City car' damn well. And one thing everyone planning on magnite should consider is how good the nearby service centre is , provided there is one. Some Nissan dealerships have very bad reputation and I have been a victim few times.Aside from that, what an awesome car!..Standard features such as rear wiper actually shooked me!!..overall a VFM product enters our market which has recently crowded with overpriced Korean shitboxes.
Is This better then Venue, Sonet and i20 1.2L Kappa engine? Because their power and torque figures are lower then Magnite but you never said lower ness of power in Hyndai vehicles reviews, Why? As you said running on hills with full house frequent gear shifting with Magnite, why and how?? And why not with your favourite Kia, Hyundai cars???
I honestly think the review was correct. I visited the showroom and felt the same of the 'cheap interiors'. And that the build seems more of a Datsun than a Nissan. I have a Sunny and I felt that even though the plastics are hard, its way better built (ran 70k and no rattles). Here in Magnite I can hold the edge of the window trim from inside with 2 fingers and flex it like anything. So I went to the showroom expecting my Sunny like build and nothing more as I was keen on buying this for my wife when I read about this few months back but after feeling the flimsy build, I had my doubts. Yes for the price the features are amazing but the build is very questionable. And this is the same tone of review with every other reviewer be it a magazine firm like Autocar or even individuals. Just my personal thought.
To all those here, just my perspective..I think Nissan targets the concept of 1) Big, Proportionate looks, well laid out head, leg & shoulder Room for avg Indian size. 2) A powertrain that's a balance between Performance & mileage with turbo aiding the midranges for ease of overtakes. 3) Giving Gimmicks - current trend among segment but thoughtful (360° camera + TPMS+ Rear AC) . 4) The DNA of an SUV with high seating position, wheel arc claddings, functional roof rails, cruise control. .. Targets the customers who seeks the alternative for a so called premium hatches, Compact sedans, who avoids the base/mid variants of Compact SUVs.. I think Nissan positions it as competitor for KUV100, Ignis, freestyle, the upcoming Tata Hornbill and Renult Kiger. I think Nissan targets Practicality, thoughtful & economical rather than on papers of Compact SUVs(no offense)
Biggest issue is engine lacks power. But for VFM cars most people don't need/expect a lot of power. Even so it could be an issue for highway driving esp. with 4 or more occupants.Apart from that the plastic used inside gives a LQ feel...it appears to be cheaper than that in BRV and Kiger.
I am planning to take a new car, which will you recommend, either Toyota Glanza or Nissan Magnite, my final choice is these two, pls suggest from ur end
Driving with your hand on the nanual shifter is a bad practice that causes excessive wear in some transmission parts. Pls verify from Google if needed. Otherwise, an excellent presentation .
Go for i20 dct asta if u have budget. But if u want good suv balanced look go for suv. And one thing drive both the cars before buying.. Sitting in car and experiencing the car is whole lot different ...
Why can't you say they offer Electronic Stability Program, Hill Assist, Traction Control, Brake Assist even for mid range models. These features are available only in the top models of Venue , Sonet .. Is this guy paid from Korean siblings?
The way any and every car company has started launching these compact SUV's, it makes us ponder over that how some the of these car manufacturers are bravely venturing out in the premium hatchback segment which might see a downfall very soon seeing the kind of prices on offer for these compact SUV's. Also, it creates a doubt in the mind of a buyer that whether he should go in for a premium hatchback or a compact SUV. The tilt right now is in favour of these mini sub four meter SUV's and as we know the competition is going to be intense.
Not sure why so many are going "over"board with their theory of so-called "negative" observations! There are plenty of positives that is being said as well - particularly the one about "well done, Nissan" regarding a specific the keyless functionality that is displayed. Even other than that, there are plenty of appreciative gestures throughout the video except for the ones that standout like a sore thumb - which, any reviewer worth their salt needs to highlight. In fact, he starts by saying he will "nitpick as usual" meaning, they might not be very significant to many but is still important and that he does it with every other product too! The right phrase is "low cost engineering" of course - one that will be eventually evident when the crash test results will be published. Right from the time Carlos Ghosn was head, the one thing I distinctly noticed and hated the guts was for his retort "we are satisfying the safety standards as prescribed by the GOI" - which is the same line taken to hide behind by Maruti Suzuki as well! The connectivity, should be between the car and driver, and the driver and his surroundings.
And there's no word in your review on the powertrain (the turbo petrol engine with specially coated cylinders borrowing from the Nissan GT-R or the 1.3 lit 156 HP Kicks/Duster turbo petrol engineand the extremely flexible CVT tranny)! Sold your soul to the Koreans?
Rightly said. The way Japanese work on machine human connection is evident and can be only felt when these cars are driven.
Rohit, you are the best auto journalist as on today, as you bring the actual nitpicking things unbiased, keep up the good work
Does he do the nitpicking on all his other reviews too?
Noticed a certain degree of Asperity from OD towards Nissan however I wish the Brand Good Luck hope they survive the onslaught of other brands and put their Best Foot forward in the Indian market space
Having not known the price, felt the interiors were very plasticy, inferior n seemed cheap with monotonous grey making it worse. But for that price, this loads features and is quite commendable. Magnite looks good on the outside, with its minimal chrome detailing, a good grill n excellent paint quality.
Certainty, a vehicle for first time buyers or for upgrades from a very basic hatchback.
what?! it feels pretty good quality plastic but some hard plastic
Wtf are u using spresso and low cost engineering words. If maruti or Hyundai had made a car at this price u would have gone mad
Good review, unlike some reviewers who review cars from the lens of a luxury vehicle.
Everyone else is saying the rubber band effect is very negligible in magnite CVT reviews except this man. Wonder why 🤔🤔
The smaller thing noticed technically and non technically are very good and well done by reviewer. Hats off!
Alright, so the sun visor is well engineered.
Hahah.. Overdrive needs to review cars w.r.t prospective customers.. Instead of comparing every car with handling of bmw & suspension of a merc.
In love with comments of this video , the guy will never make another one on magnite 😂
If this was Maruti car
Low cost engineering would have been adored as Marvel's and innovative features....
Compare this car with any premium hatchback or middle models of this so called compact SUVs and u will get the results loud and and clear...
Fragile ??? ASEAN NCAP 4 star rating, do some more homework 😀

Looks better and more SUVish than Venue and Sonet.!!/-
@Debajit B Yeah Venue is the most shitty looking sub 4 SUV out there
Low budget Sanjay Manjrekar 🤨
Buy Nissan because this biased reviewers don't want you to.
Good and vivid genuine review...kudos yar...
So thoughtful review ! Genuine guide👍👍👍👍
Lol
Asome 📷 shots tnxs 2 video man
Video shots of overdrive are really superb😍😍
I feel for Nissan , they have done a lot right, and it looks great, thought the from does remind me of a Datsun, and rear a little of the Triber, the interiors though mordern are men (except the ac vents and knobs), it feels like acres of plastic , the head unit looks like something from a segment lower .
And because of the Indian consumer mindset this wil hurt them. I hope it’s priced right
Professor - What is low cost engineering?
Me 😭
The best looking compact SUV
I think the reviewer is bit confused and biased.
Firstly I like the looks of the car far better than Ignis, new i20 whatever it's competition.
The biggest thing is the price.(if it's good as speculated)
I think it's good bang for the buck
Yes, they have to talk about safety in terms of crash test, build quality.... etc as well. Now a days people also look for this.
Very nice review..liked it..!!
To all those here, just my perspective..I think Nissan targets the concept of
1) Big, Proportionate looks, well laid out head, leg & shoulder Room for avg Indian size.
Exactly.
One of the worst review I’ve came across in the entire youtube channel for magnite.🤦🏻♂️
I think these guy never complained on space on premium cars . Even build quality is low on some of high end cars.
Say names of such high end cars for others to know
I am planning to take a new car, which will you recommend, either Toyota Glanza or Nissan Magnite, my final choice is these two, pls suggest from ur end
All Nissan brand car best in quality... We seen micra... Very Premium feel interior...
Driving with your hand on the nanual shifter is a bad practice that causes excessive wear in some transmission parts. Pls verify from Google if needed. Otherwise, an excellent presentation .
Perfect...Very detailed and unbiased review .. keep it up my man..
Every thing is alright but please change the front grill. It reminds the Datsun redi go unfortunately is not a big hit in the Indian market
💥💥💥Best nissan car i see in Kerala💥💥💥💥💯💯
Yes
Yhe styling is quite good. Definitely looks better than the venue.
Nice review
Rohit paradkar one of my favourite auto journalist 🔥
Agree. Lol I watch his reviews even though I'm not buying 2nd car soon 😀...
Which one is better I20 DCT asta o or magnite CVT top version ? Drive smoothness and suspension vise
I20 dct is far better than magnite, don't have any competition at all, magnite is for price conscious customers with below avg quality.
@PRALAY MISTRI if you want low quality product, go and buy tin can magnite
@PRALAY MISTRI I saw in nissan yard kochi, very flimsy build
Go for i20 dct asta if u have budget.
But if u want good suv balanced look go for suv.
And one thing drive both the cars before buying..
Sitting in car and experiencing the car is whole lot different ...
@@codenamearun abe saale nissan magnite scored 4star and it is safer and premium than i20 tatti, 💩
S presso ??? Do you have any sense what r you saying.. 🙄 do some homework
Good and comprehensive review Rohit. My sincere request: be more straight with names rather than just referring as ‘competition’.
Well I felt zigwheel review was more practical than this..
What they said...let us know in brief plz
Why can't you say they offer Electronic Stability Program, Hill Assist, Traction Control, Brake Assist even for mid range models. These features are available only in the top models of Venue , Sonet .. Is this guy paid from Korean siblings?
Superb
How well will it survive a crash ?
Looks very mature and attractive...
Does sonnet have a global NCAP RATING? If not isn’t the magnate a better choice?
The way any and every car company has started launching these compact SUV's, it makes us ponder over that how some the of these car manufacturers are bravely venturing out in the premium hatchback segment which might see a downfall very soon seeing the kind of prices on offer for these compact SUV's. Also, it creates a doubt in the mind of a buyer that whether he should go in for a premium hatchback or a compact SUV. The tilt right now is in favour of these mini sub four meter SUV's and as we know the competition is going to be intense.
2 minutes silence who buyed kia sonet
It is in this context that everything needs to be looked at. Until that changes, we will keep getting products that we generate demand for!
It is best in price of baleno or i20
I like how he nitpicks.. that just shows how thorough he is with the review.. great job..👍
I have book this beautiful vehicle, Your review seems biased
Foolishness to compare with Ignis and placing below Sonet and venue when it is sub 4 suv.
Is Nissan magnite turbo xl is better over ford freestyle titanium petrol?
Low cost engineering are you serious? For this value and all features name one company which gives you all these...
This and Faisal Khan's reviews were the two unhappy reviews. Seemed terribly biased.
While Faisal Khan gave a lousy review, the other MotorBeam guy Parth Gohil did test it objectively and highlight the good points while stating the negatives too.
Xl turbo main touch screen miltah hn kya?
Any idea how much the on road prices will be..?
What is the safety rating of this car ?
Korean and Japanese carmakers are not bothered about safety of Indian car buyers.
Do you care about it ?
Well they used to bother of our safety but Due to the increasing demand of kitna deti hai these Korean and Japanese car makers are focusing in mileage.
Price
This car will be a super hit in indian market if they launch it at 5.5 lacs ex showroom for manual and full loaded CVT for 6.2 lacs. I will book it for sure let’s see the pricing
If they price it higher then due to maruti Suzuki and other competition in the market it might not do well.
Price it lower pleaseee
Should I go for Magnite CVT or Triber AMT or Urban cruiser AMT?
Urban cruiser is not AMT, but an old school 4 speed TC.
