Fantastic review. I've personally owned the '15 1190R, the '19 790R, the '20 690 Enduro R, and the '21 890R. I'd echo pretty much all of your thoughts. The 890R is a fantastic bike for your day trips and long rides alike. I love the power and comfort of the big 1190, but the weight and suspension are too much of as liability off-road. I love the off road prowess of the 690, but I have a lot of highway between me and the trails and it's just exhausting on the 690. The 890 is the goldilocks bike for me. It's got all the right compromise in all the right places for a big adventure bike.
Hi Dave - an alternative to rebound damping adjustment on a PDS bike is to tweak the HS compression. Suspension turners and the Racetech Suspension Bible have told me if the backend kicks up it’s too much compression; out to a side, it’s too little (bottoming). I take 1/4 - 1/2 turn HS compression off and it’s super balanced - and you can keep the rebound a bit faster to provide better traction over fast and big bumps. The end result is better comfort too - the rear can move through it’s travel a little easier. I find the rebound stays the same through dramatically different preload (passenger/not) and compression settings.
Dave nails it! always! thanks for the review. I remember when you did the 790R. I bought it after watching your review.. that was awesome and this is even better! detailed and you actually ride the damn thing.. It was nice to hear all those improvements in the 890 over the 790- that mentioned. I absolutely love my 790 R here in the US. Just completed a week's ride from the west cost to southwest. It chewed up the miles easy on the tarmac and was easy on the dirt roads. I got to adjust the rebound on my rear, as it bounces back at me going up-hill on corrugation. Thanks again! I miss the roads back home.. :( watching your videos takes me home.
What these bikes need are 2 settings (off-road and tarmac) you can personalize to what you want ... then you can just switch between these 2 settings easily
Great review as usual. You really covered a lot. I've been thinking about a 790/890 to replace my 1090, but the weight difference isn't that much between them.
I hope you figured out the favorite function which makes your up and down arrows into quick keys when not in the menu. Makes 8-10 button presses Down to 4
Great reviews, good to hear about the rear shock, something l will have to look into and source an upgrade for. You've reinforced my opinion of no crash bars and just a really good bash plate. I rode a Norden today with Arrow decat exhaust, OMG what a stump puller. Keep the reviews rolling.
Amazing review. I have a 22 890 & love it. One thing I am trying to figure out now is tire selection. I want a knobby tire like in the video. What tire is that?
Great review, i love my 890. Compared to my old XR650R, its a computer on wheels. Ditch the cat and the bike’s character changes noticeably, it comes alive.
I just can’t wrap my head around riders talking about extra weight on big bikes when it has cruise control. But I do love the comment about “ride more”. This makes a lot of sense.
What an excellent extensive and comprehensive review 👍 I was stuck for choice between the 790 and 890, this review has firmly sold me on the 890. You really tested this bike to your limits, which as you pointed out, were much improved when trying to reach the limits of the bike itself. Many reviewers say the buffeting from the screen on open roads is unbearable, can you confirm or allay this? As I live in Scotland I'll have miles of on road to get to the off road, a lot of it with my wife as pillion. Subbed 👍
I was on the ADV ride to Condo - sure was damp. The 890 is the bees knees I can appreciate your every observation of the changing conditions Dave. Your ride impressions are spot on over the 790 as the extra fly wheel weight and rotating mass has made the 890s low end so much more tractable.. My 690 is at the end of its time in my garage (33,000 Klms and one top end rebuild). Your review has settled it for me, the 890 Adventure R with all the fruit is my next ADV bike investment.
Got to test ride one during my TET trip this year. People talk about the suspension, centre of gravity etc, but the engine! Wow what a rocket compared to my T7. When second gear powerband hit I was in trouble 😅
Great review! Now thinking two things: #1 upgrade to the 890 (from the 790) #2: I once have to go to Australia to ride there, what a beauty over there! Greetings from The Netherlands
Top review.... Very informative... I'm currently sat with a 2016 KTM690 and a 2015 BMW R1200GSA in the garage, thinking of chopping in both for a 890R 🤔🤔 Out of interest, did you switch to a MITAS on the rear for day 3? Safe riding mate 👍🏻
Always a pleasure to watch your videos ! I noticed that the 790 u've tested was with an akrapovic exhaust. This 890 is with the OEM one. After 20.000km on my 790 i've just switched from a SC project to the OEM and it's incredible how the engine is different : low torque, not playing anymore with the gearbox...looks like it handles like the 890 you're testing. Just saying ;)
Hi Dave, i have recently purchased at 890 adventure r. Just wondering if you could tell me the tyres you where using in this test. They look a bit different to the Pirelli scorpion rally’s I’ve seen. Thanks. Love the channel👍
Sorry for the dreaded tyre question. Just wondering if the scorpion rally tyre fitted in this test was still tubeless? Im not concerned about fitting a tube & rimlock on the front, however i would love to keep it tubeless. Thanks.
No wonder Chris had to increase the rear rebound. He applied full preload to the rear spring and adjusted back from there, that is not correct. The preload adjustment is done from fully out (counter clockwise) and the turns are counted IN to achieve the desired preload.
Well Dave great & very accurate review, damn you cost me some more money. Picked up a demo 890 r last month & sofar am extremely impressed overall with the bike. Coming off a 1290 & previously a 990 I think this is the best overall, lighter than both & despite what the specs say feels more powerful than my old 990.
I considered buying the 890 Adventure R, but I think my Norden is more comfortable for the sport touring I do. I don’t even need a 1290 Adventure R. I’m 70 years old with many years on big BMWs. I need lighter now.
The value is there in the componetry. The key question people have to ask themselves is how much do they want to invest in their sport. Then of course there's brand loyalty.
@@MotorcycleAdventureDirtbikeTV I'm not a brand loyalist for sure. In my thinking, any of these bikes are more capable than I. I think I may still lean towards something like the T7 due to reliability concerns. But even then the reliability gap (Yamahas "never" break and KTMs break "all the time" stereotypes) may be overblown.
Great big adventure bike review, this would be my pick for sure. Currently have the 1090 adv R. Loading up with luggage is very common on most trips and makes mine just a little too heavy in softer tracks. I would of like to see you try the 890R in softer conditions as sand is very common in WA off-road.
Former 1190 owner now with a 790…… it rocks! Rode to Alaska on the 1190 and it was great. Rode the 790 on the continental divide (off pavement) and I haven’t looked at any other bike since!
Would you mind sharing the location of the area @ around the 7:50 mark? just got into adventure riding and that looks like a great place to learn. Im assuming its in NSW? Thanks 👍🏼
The most comprehensive review on the 890 by far, it's really helpful for those of us trying to decide on so many great bikes. I'm keen to know if you have replaced or kept your T7 as I am tossing between these bikes. I know they are on opposite sides of the field in terms of riding style but any advice would be great
@@MotorcycleAdventureDirtbikeTV does the high CoG of the T7 bother you? Do you find the 210/200mm suspension travel limiting? Not being a hater, love the T7 but these are my concerns vs the KTM. The 890 R is great on both these two fronts
I have a Yamaha Tenere 700 on order but the KTM 890 Adventure R keeps whispering to me. Like a beautiful girl that you know would be fantastic but would require such a large amount of maintenance. Is it worth it over the T7? I have an R1250GS Adventure for the longer road centric rides. So the mission for the new bike is the Back Country Discovery Routes in the USA or similar.
Both of these bikes are amazing, but for serious off-road trails both are way too heavy, especially if you ride solo like I prefer. My choice for a bike that can do anything off-road is the KTM 500 EXC-F: street legal, and with ECU, air box, and exhaust mods can perform to the skill level of the rider. The weight of the 500 makes learning technical trails much easier, and helps build confidence off-road much quicker. The only option I can see is to have the big and heavy adventure bikes for the 'adventure rides with mild to moderate off-road trails' and a dedicated lightweight enduro machine like the 500 for the serious off-road adventures.
Hi. Very nice video. But, for the rear shock preload (at ~14’30”), isn’t the opposite way? Counterclockwise all the way, and then clockwise the number of turns that you need?
@@orlandoberry4031 nope. Just checked the book: 12.10 (page 193) “Turn adjusting screw counterclockwise all the way. Turn it clockwise by the number of turns corresponding…”
@@VibeDoc @10:25 there is a picture of the book. It reads “Turn adjusting screw ‘1’ clockwise up to the last percepti- ble click. Turn counterclockwise by the number of clicks correspond- ing to the shock absorber type.”
Its wild how much better you guys are at high speed riding and jumping than me, but seem to struggle at low speed technical stuff that I tend to do ok. Maybe because I grew up in rocky, clay, mountain terrain or….Maybe I need to grow a set!
The 890 is superior in terms of suspension and engine power and accessories and most importantly the latest iteration of Motorcycle Traction Control, that has already saved many riders. There is a huge price difference between the 890 and T7 although that gap is widening. The T7 is lovely to ride, has great handling and a beautiful engine and is less expensive. If you aren't a fast rider and don't intend to jump it off small erosion mounds then the original suspension will do OK, provided you don't take weight at the back or are a heavy rider. If you are on the heavy side...0ver 84 kilos you need a firmer spring on the rear. Always ensure static sag is within limits prescribed. I own a T700 and a Husky 701.
Hi Dave, this is for sure the best video on the 890 Adv R so far - well done!!! Mine will be delivered by the end of April in about 3 -4 weeks from today. Testriding it I did not really like the screen it comes with (I am 6'4") so I am wondering which screen is mounted on Glen Forman's bike... Please find out and let me know!!! Many thnks and best regards, Hubertus
As a previous owner of KTM's 1190 Adv R back when they released them i found it difficult to take it on serious off road conditions (i came from a 530exc) so didn't keep it very long, but wondered about a smaller version and have been undecided on these 890's until now, looks like everything i want to do on a bike now im going grey. Great review, can't wait for the second and third reviews too..! Cheers
Yeah just finishing up the 1290 review. If I'm lucky should have it out for this Sunday night. My view is the 1290, although substantially improved over the 1190, is not what you need. Have a good look at the 890, or 690.
Have you had the opportunity to test the tiger 900 rp? For long 60/40 trips here in Oz, mostly firetrail and light 4wd with plenty highway riding which would you choose?
@@MotorcycleAdventureDirtbikeTV I only got that one because I fitted 30mm bar risers last week 🤣 Love that 890 but I’m not sure I have the ability to get up those rock ledges with such finess. You made it look easy which I’m sure it’s not to a novice like me. I’m finding my 390 heavy enough on muddy lanes but on gravel it’s great with E09’s
I just don’t want nanny aids on my bikes! Listening to your descriptions of the numerous settings further strengthen my desire to avoid updating my bikes. My newest bike is my 2016 690 that I completely removed the ABS from.
Did you weigh a stock 790R and a 890R to confirm the weight diff? My 790R and 890 Rally have the same weight, not 4kg more. So did Rotteilers weighing turn out, wonder if you had a diferent experience & numbers?
at 7:30, that is against the ADR rules which say "The antilock brake system function shall be automatically activated after each start-up of the vehicle". How does KTM get away with it?
Good review and appreciate every UA-cam video that doesn't use cheesy click-bait tactics like extreme titles (Dont' buy the 890 Adventure R or the universe will explode!) One quibble: Was the standard KTM tool kit not on board during the first trip through the whoops? Riding in places like that, I would think a basic set of tools (among other things like first aid kit and water) is standard equipment before leaving the house. Just sayin'.
T. K. you are quibbling. :). I'm trying desperately not to answer this but you are doing my head in. Water in the vest. First aid kit in the vest. Emergency locator on the vest. Tools in the double ended dry bag that took tripod. Oh dear, I can't believe I just did that. :(
The 890 is a fantastic bike. It requires zero skill or technique in many instances and just get you to where you want to go be it the top of a rocky hill climb, down a wet boggy track, or tearing it up on corrugated rippio. It also produces more HP and torque than the old 990 adventure and more torque lower down and throughout the rev range. It's downsides for me are seat comfort (which I haven't yet fixed despite the rally seat) and wind protection which is a huge issue on cold weather long distance riding.
@@MotorcycleAdventureDirtbikeTV I was about to ask the same, having looked at your extensive review of the 701ELR, this 890R is better on tarmac , equal on dry dirt, ans sucks on wet clay : does this mean 890R is better in 95% of riding time ? Would you make a 1000km freeway with your 701 ? ( I rode 500k of highway to reach a dirt zone for a 10days trip )
Thinking of trading in my t7 for one of these next week. For the price I paid for it, investing in suspension wasn’t a really good option. Not really excited about all the electronics though but I guess the extra power deserves it. Overall think it’ll be better for my style of riding and if not, I can always go back to the t7
@@MotorcycleAdventureDirtbikeTV hope so, would hate to go through all the process just to get the same bike. I hope it is different for the better though 🤞

For 2021 I swapped after read about the changes they have done with the 1290 SAR, to this day I´ve ridden the big one 12 000 km on the gravel and I am stunned...When do you think the next review is on the net..?/Staffan/Sweden
Re rebound. Clockwise all the way in - then out the desired clicks. I thought that would mean you actually had less rebound not more. But I have been known to be wrong.
Lovely review as always. Much appreciate your riding style and long-ride review format. Would you be doing an in-depth ride and review of the 2021 Africa Twin 1100 DCT anytime soon? I am planning to upgrade from my 2021 Himalayan 411 to either a Tiger 900 Rally Pro or Africa Twin 1100 DCT next year. My use case is 80% touring + 20% off-roading (read: broken tarmac). Would love to hear your perspective. Cheers mate! PS: I own a 2015 DUKE 390 as well and added the Himalayan as my 1st ADV before I upgrade to a bigger and heavier ADV tourer. 22112021
Oh Andrew the bias thing when something is good, .....really! I own an effing Yamaha T700 and there is absolutely stacks of content on this channel saying how good they are. But let's be perfectly clear, standard straight out of the box the suspension doesnt come anywhere near the quality nor ability of the 890s. And then there's the tech. If you don't like tech, that's fine, but at the end of the day it really is outstanding. And then you've got the lower centre of gravity, and then you got the................he list goes on and on.. The bike is outstanding, but it also has an premium price tag, but for many you get what you pay for. As for reliability. How can I review reliability? That's your job. I look forward to your comments in future tests because there are a stack of tests coming, you can wonder about some more bias. :(

Thank you
Great review! I'd love to see a shoot out between the Ktm twin, t7 and 701.....
I'm not intrested in a shoot out. The bikes are so different, for different uses. For me it's like comparing a canary with a parrot.
Great review, thanks for taking the time to put it together. Cheers
Thanks for watching!
Thanks mate. I appreciate the feedback. The 790 Adventure R is a great bike.
What these bikes need are 2 settings (off-road and tarmac) you can personalize to what you want ... then you can just switch between these 2 settings easily
I agree. I was only saying that to Clubby.
Yep, sometimes simpler is better. To a point.
Need to retire
Great review thanks David, Clubby and Chris. What a great bike!
Glad you enjoyed it. Yes it is an exceptional bike.
Would be nice to get the larger display like the 1290 perhaps. Best video I've seen in a long time! Thanks!
Glad you liked it!
Thanks for this cracking and fully covering review guys! Happy trails out there 💪🤠
Our pleasure!
Thanks Dave, always enjoy watching.
Glad you enjoyed it
Great review as usual. You really covered a lot. I've been thinking about a 790/890 to replace my 1090, but the weight difference isn't that much between them.
The 1090 is a great bike.
The ergonomics of the 790/890 make it hands down better than the 1090 off-road.
I've got a great short I will publish soon of a guy on an 890 sliding down the road with very little damage. A real credit to the design.
Amazing review. I have a 22 890 & love it. One thing I am trying to figure out now is tire selection. I want a knobby tire like in the video. What tire is that?
Pirelli Rally Scorpion
Great review, i love my 890. Compared to my old XR650R, its a computer on wheels. Ditch the cat and the bike’s character changes noticeably, it comes alive.
It's a great bike. I'm liking the look of the 2022 model.
I just can’t wrap my head around riders talking about extra weight on big bikes when it has cruise control. But I do love the comment about “ride more”. This makes a lot of sense.
Yes I;ll think I'll get a Tshirt made up with that quote.
This is the best 890 Adventure R review out there
Thank you.
Subbed 👍
Glad you liked it.
Excellent , that you would buy KTM 890 Adventure R or Husqvarna Norden 901?
I like the Norden better. Just needs a better rear shock for me.
I don't think you'll be unhappy :).
Got to test ride one during my TET trip this year. People talk about the suspension, centre of gravity etc, but the engine! Wow what a rocket compared to my T7. When second gear powerband hit I was in trouble 😅
A lot more power than the T7. But then again, I like the delivery of power on my T7.
Great review! Now thinking two things: #1 upgrade to the 890 (from the 790) #2: I once have to go to Australia to ride there, what a beauty over there! Greetings from The Netherlands
You are always welcome
Top review.... Very informative... I'm currently sat with a 2016 KTM690 and a 2015 BMW R1200GSA in the garage, thinking of chopping in both for a 890R 🤔🤔
Out of interest, did you switch to a MITAS on the rear for day 3?
Safe riding mate 👍🏻
No Mitas. All Pirelli. Thank you.
Thanks for the info!
Even though I'm not one to ride off road, I really dig your channel. Love the views, and thoughts on those bikes. Cheers.
Welcome aboard!
Great video; epic length (confession: might have skipped a little bit in the middle). Keep the quality content coming!
Thanks, will do! that's the beauty of youtube, fast forward the bits you don't want.
Former owner of a 1190r now rocking the 790r with no looking back! The 790 crushed the entire continental divide off pavement and then slabed home.
An outstanding bike
Great frist episode on the new KTM 890 ADV. Looking forward to next two. Thanks . Kam ( USA )
More to come! Just finished filming the 1290 today.
Great review. Quick question, what tires are on your 890? They dont look like pirelli rally that I know..
Pirelli Rally Scorpion
Hi Dave, i have recently purchased at 890 adventure r. Just wondering if you could tell me the tyres you where using in this test. They look a bit different to the Pirelli scorpion rally’s I’ve seen. Thanks. Love the channel👍
Nope Pirelli Scorpion Rallys. The front is a real strength.
Sorry for the dreaded tyre question. Just wondering if the scorpion rally tyre fitted in this test was still tubeless? Im not concerned about fitting a tube & rimlock on the front, however i would love to keep it tubeless. Thanks.
That is a Test for Travelenduros, most of the tests are onroad with a litte gravelroad a Panigale can do. I like your test very much
We test the bikes thoroughly at MAD TV.
Great review. I’m still good with the less linear, slightly manic character of my 790, though - just sends a burst of joy when it kicks in 😁
Fair enough!
No wonder Chris had to increase the rear rebound. He applied full preload to the rear spring and adjusted back from there, that is not correct. The preload adjustment is done from fully out (counter clockwise) and the turns are counted IN to achieve the desired preload.
I go down 1 tooth on the countershaft sprocket if I'm doing more off-road/single track. Game changer.
I was happy with the gearing. 1 tooth on the countershaft is a truck load of gear reduction. Equivalent to 4 teeth up on the rear.
In some gnarly single track its a dream/
Well Dave great & very accurate review, damn you cost me some more money. Picked up a demo 890 r last month & sofar am extremely impressed overall with the bike. Coming off a 1290 & previously a 990 I think this is the best overall, lighter than both & despite what the specs say feels more powerful than my old 990.
Glad I could help.
An excellent review of the 890R. I don't know how it could be better👍
We do try hard to get them right. Some viewers complain we are too soft. Other's say we are too hard.
I considered buying the 890 Adventure R, but I think my Norden is more comfortable for the sport touring I do. I don’t even need a 1290 Adventure R. I’m 70 years old with many years on big BMWs. I need lighter now.
It will be interesting what your next bike is. I'm only 8 years behind you.
Looks like a great performer. Overall, do you think it is worth the price compared to the T7?
Yeah, I agree, I should have chased some deeper sand down to test the new Rally slip control settings.
Former 1190 owner now with a 790…… it rocks! Rode to Alaska on the 1190 and it was great. Rode the 790 on the continental divide (off pavement) and I haven’t looked at any other bike since!
Glad they started for you
Would you mind sharing the location of the area @ around the 7:50 mark? just got into adventure riding and that looks like a great place to learn. Im assuming its in NSW? Thanks 👍🏼
Sorry Michael, that's my suspension testing track. It will get wrecked if I tell that location.
Looks like it's around Wiseman's ferry/maroota. They exited onto great northern rd
@@racerboy3801 The tests cover 100s of kilometres. My test track is no where near there.
The most comprehensive review on the 890 by far, it's really helpful for those of us trying to decide on so many great bikes. I'm keen to know if you have replaced or kept your T7 as I am tossing between these bikes. I know they are on opposite sides of the field in terms of riding style but any advice would be great
Glad it was helpful! I stilll have my T7 and love it. The 890 is completely on another level in terms of suspension.
@@MotorcycleAdventureDirtbikeTV does the high CoG of the T7 bother you? Do you find the 210/200mm suspension travel limiting? Not being a hater, love the T7 but these are my concerns vs the KTM. The 890 R is great on both these two fronts
@@rasthurlo6812 Not for what I ride. It is a great handling bike. Once the suspension is replced the actual length of travel is fine.
For BDR, you'll have to get the T7 front suspension sorted, which isn't too much.
Isn't there less maintenance and longer intervals on the 890 vs T700? No linkage to maintain, and 15,000km oil changes and valves at 30,000km
Yes many have the 500EXC. Service limits and small oil capacity are a turn off for me, particularly when you the 701 has 10 k service intervals.
Hi. Very nice video.
But, for the rear shock preload (at ~14’30”), isn’t the opposite way? Counterclockwise all the way, and then clockwise the number of turns that you need?
In the book it said all the way clockwise - then out the desired clicks.
@@orlandoberry4031 nope. Just checked the book:
12.10 (page 193) “Turn adjusting screw counterclockwise all the way. Turn it clockwise by the number of turns corresponding…”
@@VibeDoc @10:25 there is a picture of the book.
It reads “Turn adjusting screw ‘1’ clockwise up to the last percepti-
ble click.
Turn counterclockwise by the number of clicks correspond-
ing to the shock absorber type.”
@@orlandoberry4031 you are talking about rebound, I am talking about the preload. At 14:30, where I have my question, he’s working at the preload
@@VibeDoc - my bad. Yes I thought you had a question about rebound, however, you did indeed ask about preload.
Sorry about that.
Its wild how much better you guys are at high speed riding and jumping than me, but seem to struggle at low speed technical stuff that I tend to do ok. Maybe because I grew up in rocky, clay, mountain terrain or….Maybe I need to grow a set!
I prefer slow to fast and do better slow.
@@MotorcycleAdventureDirtbikeTV Compared to me you guys are FLYING through the stuff you are jumping. Eitherway, cheers!!
So looking at this bike or the yam T7 which is better IYHO as covid means test rides are tricky
I think you'll have to reach out to Glen. I don't have his contact details.
Alright, will try to find him on YT or Insta…
Thanks!
Hopefully we get our hands on the Tiger 900 very shortly.
Hi which back pack are you using in the video looks great
KLiM
Thanks 🙏
I’d like to see how you ride with “30 centimetre” bar risers🤣
Great content as always 👏🏼👏🏼
Yes a slip of the tongue I left in. There are two other slips that I let through.
@@MotorcycleAdventureDirtbikeTV I only got that one because I fitted 30mm bar risers last week 🤣
Love that 890 but I’m not sure I have the ability to get up those rock ledges with such finess. You made it look easy which I’m sure it’s not to a novice like me. I’m finding my 390 heavy enough on muddy lanes but on gravel it’s great with E09’s
Awesome review & ride, love it. I think I'm convinced...... time to order mine.
Go for it!
Great Video !! Do you know what the top speed of the KTM 890 is ?
No idea, bloody too fast :)
I just don’t want nanny aids on my bikes! Listening to your descriptions of the numerous settings further strengthen my desire to avoid updating my bikes. My newest bike is my 2016 690 that I completely removed the ABS from.
They can be distracting, but there is no question they are life saving.
Did you weigh a stock 790R and a 890R to confirm the weight diff?
My 790R and 890 Rally have the same weight, not 4kg more.
So did Rotteilers weighing turn out, wonder if you had a diferent experience & numbers?
No. But the KTM literature puts it 4 kg heavier.
Great stuff, you always deliver Dave.
Thank you
at 7:30, that is against the ADR rules which say "The antilock brake system function shall be automatically activated after each start-up of the vehicle". How does KTM get away with it?
Controversy right there Nerb1, front ABS and MTC are automatically activated
@@MotorcycleAdventureDirtbikeTV Ahh, so leaving the rear abs off only is ok... or a loop hole! Interesting.
@@Nerb1 MTC on this bike is at another level compared to 790. A key feature of the bike
Fantastic footage! Thank you, Sir!
Glad you enjoyed it!
I like this episode. exactly what I am expecting
Thank you
When is the next adventure, looking forward to it, you ride the neatest places.
Soon I hope.
But is there a serious problem with oil delivery to the cams. Ive heard they have changed the head .
I'm unsure
Hi did you fit 140/80 Pirelli tyre on rear with tube? Any issues with handling? You did not metioned anything but Worth asking:)
Brilliant handling, no issues.
Yeah cold weather riding that'a a good point. I like the standard seat. I found it comfortable.
love the owner interview at the end 👍
Yeah I did too.
Huskavarna 701 LR or KTM 890 R ? If you had to choose
Too hard 😳😀
@@MotorcycleAdventureDirtbikeTV wow! That sure says alot about the husky
How would you compare the 890 suspension to the rally raid suspension for the t7?
The 890 is better. But in terms of the T7, the Rally Raid is an amazing improvement.
Thinking of trading in my t7 for one of these next week. For the price I paid for it, investing in suspension wasn’t a really good option. Not really excited about all the electronics though but I guess the extra power deserves it. Overall think it’ll be better for my style of riding and if not, I can always go back to the t7
Completely different bikes
@@MotorcycleAdventureDirtbikeTV hope so, would hate to go through all the process just to get the same bike. I hope it is different for the better though 🤞
Thank you for a great review. I hardly can´t wait for the next episod with the new 1290 SAR, it will be interesting if you come to similar conclusions like I have done. 2019/20 I had the 790 R and I was overwhelmed how much better it was than my previous 1190 R. For 2021 I swapped after read about the changes they have done with the 1290 SAR, to this day I´ve ridden the big one 12 000 km on the gravel and I am stunned...When do you think the next review is on the net..?/Staffan/Sweden
Coming soon! a week or two.
My favourite bike hope ktm launch this in India 😘
I hope so too
Re rebound.
Clockwise all the way in - then out the desired clicks.
I thought that would mean you actually had less rebound not more.
But I have been known to be wrong.
What ever way it works.
Hi from Transylvania,Romania
😊
Hi Kristian
Always look forward to your reviews and they never disappoint, thks a mill.
Thanks Bruce.

No the AT test is not imminent, although it may occur later next year. Sorry I can't be definite.
Good to see you again.
Welcome back
awesome review,,, also like you full suit and helmet !!
Glad you enjoyed it
What tyres are you Running at the 890? Im looking for more grip on mine
Pirelli Rally Scorpion. They are great tyres. But please remember I'm sponsored by Pirelli.
KTM should do a 390 adventure r and keep it light.
They do. But there is another coming that is more dirt orientated from Sherco I think.
good for a round the world trip or too complicated?
Let's wait and see.
As ever, great video .
Thank you
Are these bikes really that much better then my carb'd 950?
Shit all over it. I've had two 950s, unless you have the Super Enduro version.
Thanks for youre impression and gratings from Germany
Thank you.
How would you compare highway speed vibrations on the 890 vs 690/701?
890 smoother
For a adventure bike I value first reliability, which cannot be found on this bike. Why ktm reviews are biased most of the time, I wonder.
What’s the brand of the after market windscreen of the fella you interviewed at the end of the Video please ?
Mate this was a long time ago. No idea.
