- G'day everyone!
Glenn's Supra with its 1JZ VVTi had developed a missfire under load. In this video we quickly explain what we did to test why and show you how we went about an upgrade that can be done on a budget and works with the FACTORY ECU!
Once again, please leave us a comment and let us know how we did!
If it's beyond your skill level, please don't try this at home! If you would like some more details on how we did it, leave us a comment. Follow anything we have done at your own risk. We have filmed this all in our after hours time. Remember to always use/wear correct personal protective equipment and be safe at all times!

Just did mine with R8 coils with you diagram...thank you.
Im trying todo r8 coils now, but idk if its cos i used the wrong resistors or not it was the closest i had, and it start run fine and after a while the coils would start breaking up and then stall, the other difference is im running the jzx110/jzs171 ecu and ignitor. But that shouldnt cause a issue. I have the proper resistors coming tomorrow
Ok have you figured a way out to keep the tac working.
Interested in a write up on the wiring if possible? Great work btw!
We're going to put together a nice and easy to read circuit diagram asap!
Hey Patrick, shoot us an email at info@whiteyswiring.com for our diagram!
Im also interested. Gotta price out some coils though. Any reccomendations?
Thanks for the upload ! Appreciated
Thanks for the video👍 about to do this swap very soon and was wondering how you deleted the oem wasted spark wiring harness?
Just peeled back the harness, cut back the wires and insulated the ends before recovering.
@@WhiteysWiring figured that’d be the case. Saving this project for my next day off and been dying to knock it out. THANK YOU so much for your input! 🍻
Very cool 🤙🏾. maybe you should sell a tidy little jumper harness for igniter and 370z coil harness kit I’d imagine lots of folks would be interested
Would be good, but would cost a fair bit of money and time to make the opposing connector to plug in in place of the igniter as they don't currently exist
sick video i just did the haltech ps2000, it's a cheap ecu and supports this out of the bat
Yes aftermarket ECUs have a great deal of advantages. Glenn will be fitting a Link G4X Fury to this in the near future once he has the rest of his planned upgrades ready to go on. As mentioned in the video, we went this route as his standard coils were failing. Rather than waste money on standard replacements, he decided an upgrade of the ignition system straight away would be the best plan of attack. Which we were able to achieve on the standard ECU and is still running faultlessly.
friggin amazing information A1 !!!! Subscribed, friend!!!! Love your work and the videos!!! keep em' coming!
I am going to try this, I just did the 2JZGE to 2JZGTE ECU Mod and it runs good but the vvti coils I got are just breaking up at 4000rpm and up. I am going to try this on the 2jzGTE ECU and vvti Igniter since the igniter is similar....
so in theory, it would work for the 2jzge with the 2JZGTE ECU mod (aka NA to TT ECU mod by AliSC3). I don't want to go standalone as I want OEM drivability and emissions in California 🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️and thank you for the fuel pump video as well, brothers!! CHeers!!!!
P/S: don't you need to just jump the R109 resistor for the tacho to work for the Supra, same as a 2jzge to 2JZGTE conversion, init? just wondering, correct me if I'm wrong.
IS THAT A SUPRA DUDE??!!!!
So it would still be firing 2 coils at the same time I assume as thats what the ignitor outputs?
Yes correct, still wasted spark so firing two coils at the same time. Not a disadvantage by any means however!
How's this setup still working? Any issues? Did you upgrade to an aftermarket ECU?
Still daily driving with this setup currently, no issues. Still running standard ECU. Has now seen more boost and power since the initial dyno run on our other video. Stay tuned for an update very soon!
Where can we get a new tach signal for the car if we need it for other accessories?
There's products out there like the 'universal tach adapter' or the Autometer 9117 tach adapter that will generate a tach signal.
could you help out with the wiring? be good to do this
Hello @@WhiteysWiring
Hi, I also have a 1jz mk4 supra that's experiencing the same issues. Thinking of doing this conversion too, however I have an ECUmaster ecu. Would it be more or less the same process?
Hey mate, ECU master you won't need to do anything of this. Wire the coil triggers directly to the ECU master coil outputs. We had to muck around with this setup like this because the factory ECU is looking for a feedback to see that the coils have fired where as the ECU master does not need it.
@@WhiteysWiring that's brilliant thank you very much. Now comes the debate between yaris bosch coils or vag R8 coils. Thanks for replying ❤️
Were can i buy this and can you make one for the 2jzgte ???🤨🤔
Interested in doing this converison. Any update on how it has been performing thus far ? Or has anyone else tried it ??
also interested. may be interesting purcashing a harness as well.
@@andrewgarretson5 I'm going to make my harness. Trying to buy the connectors and stuff now. Bought the coil packs already.
2jz ge vvti can do this. Can I use it?
Will this work on a 5vz by toy engine how will the wiring be done thanks Luis
No idea on that one sorry.
Does stock tachometer work with it?
Didn't know Chris Pratt had a thing for 1jz
Hey have you guys made a kit for this yet and got tac to work thanks
Unfortunately we haven't developed this any further as yet
@@WhiteysWiring be very keen for a kit
@@jimmyw1890 unfortunately its not high up on our priority list at this stage as we have other things in development.
Will this work for 2jzgte vvti
Should be the same but can't guarantee.
Were the stock ones a limitation ?
The stock items were failing and causing misfires under load. These were a budget friendly option and are proven to handle high horsepower so it was a no brainer to do this instead of finding stock replacements.
What 6 coil did u install?
Its all explained in the video :)
are you seller it iwant buy.
What coils are these?
All explained at the start of the video :)
I have a question, which output do I connect to the IGF?
Shoot us an email at info@whiteyswiring.com and we can send you our diagram
Is it a 1j or a 2j
As the title says it is a 1JZ. If you check out some of our other videos you'll see the conversion process :)
is there any coil bracket?
No bracket. These coils fit snug on the spark plugs and we have put a piece of foam rubber on the coil cover above each coil to hold them from vibrating around.
@@WhiteysWiring i see... Awesome upgrade. Btw are the wires 18 awg?
@@adrianchung8719 22AWG tefzel. 4 of these coils draw only 5A of current!
@@WhiteysWiring thank you for the info bro. keep posting new vids plz.
@@WhiteysWiring getting bracket made would be really good, the factory coil setup moves a lot as it is.
Heello i am interrwt diagram
