Absolutely the best way. I did similar, but with PECO turnouts having their own spring, was able to not need the V shape in the rod. And the throw of the slide switch matched the throw of the points/3mm.
Nathan, Yes you can however how are you going to throw the switch rail blades? I drill a hole in the slide switch toggle and run a wire to the switch so it changes direction AND changes the polarity - it is a cheap and easy way to control turnouts.
Hi Laurie. Can you make a draing of elect. wir and where they attach to which rails.I cant seem to get th frod tc traight in my head though lord knows I've tried. You showed it on the video butcant see whee wires go specifically . a drawing would help me understandlike looking down at the switches. If you can.Don't mean to be dumb but at 80 years old ,it is confusing.Turnouts are my nemisus.Take cate my friend. Wonderful! Thank you! And a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! Sam
Nice tip on the turnout Thanks for sharing
Cheers Ron
What are the switches called and do they change the polarity on the frog or turn power on and off from the frog?
Nathan, the switch is called a "slide switch" and has 6 pins underside. Just like a DPDT switch iswired for changing the frog polarity.
Laurie McLean MMR Can I use SPDT switches to power and change the polarity of my frogs?
