This is basically Trivium's way of saying "Fuck You" to those who only want the sound of the old albums. It's both awesome and hilarious at the same time.
Alex Capone Combine that with a bit more of a progressive element and VF style screams (as in just the background adding a bit more in dynaimics), and yes. I'd feel the same way.
+Jared Bywater Got Silence In The Snow on pre-order, so stoked for when it comes through! I had to warm up a bit to the 3 songs they've released but now I'm really getting the hype for my new Trivium album! :D
My little brother just started listening to metal and he asked me to give him some suggestions so I showed him this video and he said "Dude I am not into old man making metal cuz they will probably die in a few years later." I laughed so hard he thought I was crazy.
The group on stage is the band Xployt out of tampa, Florida. I am the drum tech for Chris (the drummer) all good people, and it's always a pleasure to work and speak to all the members. Going to the Trivium show this Saturday with Xployt because they were offered backstage passes. Chris was kind enough to include me since I'm technically a part of the band's journey.
it has been over 15 years since I've bought a CD album. This is going to be my first in all that time. All of the songs in this album are worth giving them money for their art and work.
I love the old Trivium but the new is the best. Thanks for your amazing music. I love your sound and your lyrics. One of my favorite metal bands without doubt.
Explanation that Matt retweeted (not mine): This video is extremely weird but I think it has a meaning and I might know what it is. Let's break this down. -The Old People Playing The Song: I believe this section, as well as the whole video represents what some Trivium fans think whenever the band comes out with new stuff. So many people have been saying that they "miss the old Trivium" and that's exactly what this video provides; an old Trivium. -The Old People Dancing: These people represent these very same fans. The people who sit around and complain about how Trivium's new music is bad and prefer to jam out to the old Trivium. Old people often have trouble accepting new things, especially music. -The Weird Dude Hugging The Picture Of Washington: I believe this also represents the inability to let go of the past. He's hugging the picture and seems to be very happy with it. He probably wouldn't be very happy if someone was to take it from him and give him a new one. -The Arm Wrestling: This could represent the overcoming of obstacles that others cannot. The big guy represents Matt Heafy's intensity; his screaming that people miss so much. The other guys can't get over him but Matt managed to beat him. -The Real Trivium: The real Trivium is seen preforming random activities instead of playing. This could show that they don't care about the backlash and would much rather do what they want instead of the traditional things that people expect from them.
This sound a bit different from the other video for this song released a week ago. Not only sound a little louder, but guitars are more upfront, with more presence in the mix, and so vocals don´t stand out so much like before. I like this mix/master better, since it adds more power to the song.
You just described everything that this new album isn't. Ascendency and Shogun were raw and hard hitting. This is "playing it safe" metal, as I call it.
Safe to say that this is going to be Trivium's best album so far. At least on a musical stand. Matt vocals are better than ever, and so far it has been an instrumental ride all around on the singles. Looking forward to this album!
I am a huge Trivium fan, seen them live, and I must say, that they are really great, even without growls...growls are sick and fun, but the band simply grew up, that's all, so quit bitching and enjoy the music. TRIVIUM!
As someone who loved Trivium a good deal more than most, I enjoy visiting the videos of their new music just to read the comments of the many people who appreciated the absolute majesty of Shogun. Once, Trivium Spawned The Furies, but no longer.
+Electric Potato I don't deny copying and pasting, although I don't usually do it. It can lead to good discussions however. I think you're absolute right. People can enjoy both, but I think that is a smaller subset of people than you might think. I'm really glad that you enjoy Trivium's new material. I don't. I believe I have the right to state this opinion (albeit an unpopular one) when I have bought the physical CDs, attended multiple shows, picked up the posters/shirts and all that jazz. I don't even know why I do it. I guess it has something to do with talking to people who share a love for an album that I hold in such high regard. There's no denying that it's enjoyable to discuss what made Shogun such an immersive (almost to the point of being a fantasy) album. It makes me very happy to hear that it is your favourite album of all time. We'd probably get on pretty well. But I'm not going to hero worship everything they do. It's a good thing that there remains a demographic of fans that does not hesitate to criticise a talented band putting out (once again, they are personal opinions) mundane and derivative material. Cheers for the exchange :) - Eleu
ANOTHER THING: The arm wrestlers are albums! The one winning all the time is Ascendancy, while the three opponents are The Crusade, Shogun and Vengeance Falls in that order. The symbolism is that old fans are always claiming that Ascendancy is their best album. The reason I thought of this was because the third opponent's tattoo was in the font used for VF. I would also assume that the guy sitting down before Matt rocks up is In Waves, who doesn't get to wrestle for whatever reason.
+K1dP5ycho the guy with denim jacket is the crusade, as denim jacket is(was) an attribute of thrash metal. Shogun - an Asian guy, duh. The Machine tattoo says it all. Just take a look on VF art theme.
I just realized I'm wearing my old Trivium shirt while watching this, totally not on purpose....Bought this shirt over 10 years ago, I wear it all the time, yet the logo never fades, not a single tear or hole in the entire thing despite all the abuse I have put it though....this shirt has stood the test of time. Just like Trivium! \m/
JUST WHY??? I LOVE TRIVIUM WITH ALL MY HEART AND I WILL APRECIATE THEM NO MATTER WHAT BUT THIS... THIS IS NOT THEM .... WHERE ARE THE SCREAMING THE MOTIVATION THE ENERGY WHO MAKES YOU CRACK YOUR HEAD??????? PLEASE COME BACK
This video is a slap in my face. I'm just like one of those old guys dancing... I refuse to change, to accept the new. I'm not talking about the change in Triviun's music, because I really like this "new" Trivium, but with other things of life, I usually refuse the changes and this video made me think about it.
All I can imagine while watching this is...... making the video must have either been funny as hell, or downright awkward. A mosh pit filled with old, "blind" people?! Badass bikers + old people + alcohol = youtube immortality
Not too heavy, but their last album was easily the heaviest in their career so it's an interesting change of pace. It seems like Matt's singing voice has gotten a lot stronger. I used to get kind of an emo-y vibe from his singing voice on their earlier stuff. Lyle McDouchebag Guessing you probably forgot Vengenace Falls and are talking about In Waves instead? That would make sense, although Ember to Inferno and Ascendancy were still heavier tbh
+Kaj McBeth totally agree..a skyline's severance, dusk dismantled, chaos reigns, inception of the end are heavy as fuck..but in waves cannot be considered their heaviest album cause i t had alot of soft songs aswell..personally i believe ascendancy together with shogun are their heaviest albums..

Lol. Autoplay. I'm just sitting here thinking, "Man, these old thrasher dudes sound a lot like Trivium." I'm not that observant when it comes to music videos, ok?
I love how theres gonna be new people watching this that dont know what trivium look like and think thats trivium playing haha
GetScaredGaming ha that happened to me with korn's video of "twisted transistor", i actually thought xzibit and lil jon were in the band
+GetScaredGaming The "lead singer" reminds me Sean Waltman aka X-Pac.
***** we're three then xD
+Andy Hughes this band would be getting legitimate heat if the leadsinger were X-Pac
-Hiruko- Its not. Its a friend of mine. He is in a band called XPLOYT. Local band in Tampa Florida
This was the best cover ever. Sounded exactly like the original!
What is the original?
...This is the original, but it's not played by the Trivium members in this video
Fr3akymet4l Did you see Kent Hovind in the thumbnail?
it's not a cover, child
Is really nobody getting the joke??
2:59 Matt was in a self control moment. There was a huge pasta dish righ on his side
Ricardo Sá LOL Amazing
No one eats until Matt heafy eats
+mr.green leaF HAHAHAHAHA I remenber that! He talked about this episode at the "Failure" speech
Ricardo Sá
less upsetti
more spaghetti
+mr.green leaF I've lived by those words religiously.
Damn I'm hungry as shit...
No one eats until Matt heafy eats!!!!
Robert Baker Fuck that pasta guy for being rude !
Everyone eats when matt heafy eats!!
EAT WIVES!!!
Ruziah Zainal 😂
Now its everyone comes before heay does
This is likely one of the best Trivium songs with no screaming.
I don't know why but I think Matt looks so good with an eye patch and a yellow button up. 😍
I bet his character was a war veteran
I knew it, this entire time mat has been lip syncing, this is the real singer!
Robert Reckeweg lol
That's explain why the silence in the snow has no scream. BECAUSE HE DOES THE CLEAN AND THAT'S WHY HE APPEAR IN THIS VIDEO !
This song is one of the best in Trivium`s history. Because it has a harmony of dozens parts inside itself. Bravo Trivium!!!
Cool Eyepatch mister Heafy. Now you can lead the Avengers.
+Marcelo Bassalo or lead Woodbury
Ex1Le or seize back The Black Pearl
Ex1Le Nice one.
Machinedead I kept calling him pirate dude
+Machinedead best. comment. here.
This is basically Trivium's way of saying "Fuck You" to those who only want the sound of the old albums. It's both awesome and hilarious at the same time.
+xXAscendingPhoenixXx My thoughts exactly! :D
I feel like if they made their music a bit heavier with Matts current vocal style it would be absolutely perfect
Alex Capone Combine that with a bit more of a progressive element and VF style screams (as in just the background adding a bit more in dynaimics), and yes. I'd feel the same way.
+Alex Capone they will get there just let them develop a little more :)
+Jared Bywater Got Silence In The Snow on pre-order, so stoked for when it comes through! I had to warm up a bit to the 3 songs they've released but now I'm really getting the hype for my new Trivium album! :D
The only thing I understood about this video was that Paolo is a hustler.
Luke Parsons Hahh
Every time i watch this video i think man Paolo is a dick to that kid
The amount of symbolism in this video is too damn high!
Paolo's really nailing the backing vocals. The choruses on this album are sick!
I wonder if Trivium have ever walked into a random bar when A Trivium tribute band happened to be playing haha
That question has probably been asked about every band ever.
No matter what you think of Trivium compared to before and now, this song is just an awesome rock song. Trivium rocks
My little brother just started listening to metal and he asked me to give him some suggestions so I showed him this video and he said "Dude I am not into old man making metal cuz they will probably die in a few years later." I laughed so hard he thought I was crazy.
Legend
Old School Trivium
New Trivium, its still Trivium and still kicks ass!
The group on stage is the band Xployt out of tampa, Florida. I am the drum tech for Chris (the drummer) all good people, and it's always a pleasure to work and speak to all the members. Going to the Trivium show this Saturday with Xployt because they were offered backstage passes. Chris was kind enough to include me since I'm technically a part of the band's journey.
there is not 1 album that blows from Trivium. i love you dudes!
Great to hear trivium talking about the reality in this society.
Are you content with the truth that they have fed unto you? THINK, THINK FOR YOURSELF
These old guys can rock!!!
Zack Harris lmao
+Zack Harris the guy with the eyepatch is the leadsinger of this band
Too bad that's not them...
It's a joke LOL
Ive been a.faithful supporter since i bought Ascendancy in 2005..every album just gets better.
This song is soooo fucking good, I've listened to it 1000 times. That chorus is brilliantly sung and that bridge/breakdown is genius.
And the winner 🏆 Mathew, I love how Betty white was jamming out with them 💯👍
Play this one live more often please! The Heafy Paolo duet is so splendid!
This is my Trivium Fav song, Ever. Thank you so much for everything.
I personally like their new music. It's cleaner, deeper, and more original.
yes a lot like in flames
Remember when they tried to be metallica ?
No aha recently got into Trivium
Is trivium heavy metal?
It sounds like Power Metal.
Imagine never having heard of Trivium and seeing this video and thinking that they're a bunch of guys in their 50s
This is the first time I've ever seen actors play the band and the band members play actors
AbsoluteZ3R0 It is an actual band on stage. XPLOYT out of Tampa, FL they never even turned the Amps on lol
Since my comment has become the most voted I feel it is my deed to learn this song and cover it. Wish me luck bros!
Paontera Earthstetics good luck!
+Paontera Earthstetics yu actually pat attention to that?? sad
*dead*
Damn, i never get tired of all of it.
it has been over 15 years since I've bought a CD album. This is going to be my first in all that time. All of the songs in this album are worth giving them money for their art and work.
learned about the band maybe 20 minutes ago, this is probably my favorite song so far. my research continues
Best song, with which to send the message "this is the new trivium".
Favourite from the album. Love that riff
It's been awhile since I listened to Trivium, I mean MAN, they have gotten old.
XD
Great Real Music by TRIVIUM
Do I love old Trivium? Hell yeah I do, Shogun is a beast of an album!
Do I still love new Trivium? Fuck yes!!!!
love how this band takes chances and us true fans love this band no matter how hard or soft they play
3:23 this part of guitar sounds really awesome
I love the old Trivium but the new is the best. Thanks for your amazing music. I love your sound and your lyrics. One of my favorite metal bands without doubt.
Therapist: All the dreams have a meaning. My Dreams:
Heard this song in a Hard Rock Cafe in Philly. I got hooked by this
This song has been on my playlist for forever but first time I've really listened to it and I love this song
Awesome song and video.Matt sings better than he screams.Greetings from a latino in Norway.

hes injured but still beats a strong opponent.. hes not done yet, they're not done yet. well trivium you still kickass after all the ups and downs
entre mas canciones voy escuchando, mas voy amando este grupo, espero poder verlos algún día en vivo.
I the land of the blind, the man with one eye is king.
great song!

Good way to explain that, "In the land of the blind, the one-eyed man (Matt) is king."
A.... Trivium video that isn't some boring, clipshow/live video? HOLY CRAP!
The introduction sounds like King Diamond. Very Nice!
Trivium has changed.
They went from whatever the fuck they were once playing, to raw, hard hitting, pure heavy metal.
I love it.
the old trivium was awesome, now is more mature and i love it
Shogun was a fucking great album what the hell are you saying lmao
This comment makes me happy.. At first I thought what a dumbass, but then I ended up reading all of it and I couldn't agree more ^^
Have you not heard ascendency ? Lol

Sick tune, but wtf did I just watch?
Paontera Earthstetics Paolo being a bad-ass, duh!
My thoughts exactly...
Paontera Earthstetics they were too lazy to do a performance capture for the vid, sooo yeah...
+Paontera Earthstetics I thought exactly the same thing!!!! hahahaha
denNicola Im Paolo

K1dP5ycho You are extremely perceptive to notice my tattoo font is Vengeance Falls. Ashley prepared this font for me personally.
+K1dP5ycho The one winning al the time should be shogun do. But i get your point ;)
K1dP5ycho Is that a theory of yours?
+K1dP5ycho My thoughts exactly!

This is an underrated song!
the guitars in the song sound so fucking AMAZING jackson guitars are frigging so amazing sounding INCREDIBLE!
Song has more meaning this year.
In my head. Watching this band of old guys is the only way to hear this song. In my head, its THEIR song.
Mat (New Drummer) Got dat jungle fever! lol
Brian Taylor She was a nice girl. Surprised they went with the drummer for that skit. I tried to warn them no one likes the drummer. lol
This video is a slap in my face. I'm just like one of those old guys dancing... I refuse to change, to accept the new. I'm not talking about the change in Triviun's music, because I really like this "new" Trivium, but with other things of life, I usually refuse the changes and this video made me think about it.
This is pure fucking Heavy Metal. lm/
ALBUM VENOM IS BETTWR
+Gaming Nerd fok off m8
I'm just kidding I love this album and there new voice stly
+Juan Esteban I think you're confusing pure fucking metal with emo sing along poppy bullsh*t
Poldendrol Hahaha, you're so posser.
These guys sell it so well. Id love to see this band of old guys.
Epic! Trivium is fucking awesome, being what they want to be, regardless what some may say or think.
Just AMAZING.
All I can imagine while watching this is...... making the video must have either been funny as hell, or downright awkward. A mosh pit filled with old, "blind" people?! Badass bikers + old people + alcohol = youtube immortality
YEAHHHHHHH!!!!!! tHIS IS THE SOUND OF EPICNESSS!!!
Not too heavy, but their last album was easily the heaviest in their career so it's an interesting change of pace. It seems like Matt's singing voice has gotten a lot stronger. I used to get kind of an emo-y vibe from his singing voice on their earlier stuff. It almost had like a killswitch or a system of a down kind of twinge, but that seems to have been hammered out over the years and now its pretty much gone.
How was Vengeance Falls "easily" their heaviest album? Is that a joke? It is easily their LEAST heavy album if anything.
Lyle McDouchebag Uh no Ember to Inferno and Ascendancy are their heaviest albums. Shogun is pretty heavy too but only in bits!
Josh Paladino Having screams on an album doesn't automatically make it heavy.
I don't really know what it means but I do enjoy watching the video lol. Paulo is the man!
I was trying to describe a band to my mate the other day, and I said "It's like that one good Trivium album."
"Ascendancy?"
"No, I mean In Waves. Ascendancy is good too."
"I like Ember to Inferno more, Vengeance Falls is good too."
"Yeah, even the The Crusade has it's moments."
A moment of time passed.
"I love Trivium."
"Oh my GOD, me too."
"I have everything they've ever released!"
umm can anyone say that this album is comin together quite nicely
If you look closely the guy with the eye-patch is actually Matt Heafy himself.
these guys are going to kick so much ass at knotfest this year, cant wait.
Damn this is a great song
+PlainN SimpleMan Very creative and unique to showcase different people playing the song creating a blind illusion and leading the masses to believe what is real. Blind leading the blind very clever, well done!
One of the best songs they've ever written
Awesome song, but one of the strangest videos I've ever seen from them.
I'm liking this album so far guys, keep up the good work.
I actually think Matt's singing evolved a lot, and he is proving it in the latest songs.
I'm all about the old bassist/backing singer. He's fucking quality 😅
TRIVIUM IS THE WORLD ON MY EARS HELL YEAHHHHHHHHHH
The Darkness of my mind
love the music
I think this entire video was all an excuse for Matt to wear an eye patch next to a guy eating a ton of spaghetti.
I Can't believe I stumbled upon you music by watching some Tremonti's videos...this came on after. You guys kill it. Very impressed.
Can I get a Hellll yeah!?
ProPlanty By 4 seconds.
[S]unjay Close one ;)
100% about people being stuck in the past and not being able to let go of the “old” trivium. This is supposed to be trivium when they are “old”.
Is this TRIVIUM ? ;)
I LOVE the way the guitarist gets rly into it @ 2:29 !!
😍😂😍
Lol. Autoplay. I'm just sitting here thinking, "Man, these old thrasher dudes sound a lot like Trivium."
I'm not that observant when it comes to music videos, ok?
Eugenesis 😂xD
The same happened to me !! xD
Give us more music videos like this! They're fun to watch and capture the message of the song.
Is that fucking Jenson Button?
Nuapuri Thrashman lol
Nuapuri Thrashman Where is he?
Nuapuri Thrashman Bit of button, bit of Andy Murray
Василий Близнецов I think its a lookalike on 0:52 and again at 1:57
RyoEspada22 LOL, really!
This album is taking a long time to get used to! I'm finally starting to like it...
Damn this is good coming from a Killswitch Engage fan
I have no words for what I just watched....
