What a awesome part two of your crazy adventure!!! Well we have learned that these old busses can and do take the heat, and they can climb to 9,000 plus feet and live to talk about it! We also learned that riding behind a leaky diesel vanagon maybe not the best position to be in, definatly not with safari windows open. But most of all, we learned that you cant stop a bunch of VW Lifers from having fun!!! So thanks for bringing this adventure to us all!!!
What an amazing trip! Makes me want a bus so bad! It really is impressive where you guys make it 2! Keep up the amazing content look forward to the next adventure!
What a cool trip, I'm glad for the cows that nobody did a "Babyface Nelson" imitation. So cool all the great views and how tough old VW are. My son and I wrenched on my 61 kombi tonight. Enjoying your vibes Peace

Took 20 years to finish Jag as I was on a strict budget. (2 kids to feed!). My 2nd VW was a 1954 all original 36 hp Ragtop. cool this is where you were when I messaged you last. ha ha. I was just in that area. Looks like near the 180. That is a beautiful part of New mexico and AZ.
We spent some time in Cloudcroft about four years ago. A great time of sight seeing and visiting sites. We stayed in Alamogordo, a lot to do around there also and one of the friendliest towns I have ever been in. A trip well worth the time.
@@VWLifeVW how did you keep the oil temps within range while driving in such high heat? I'm afraid to drive my '82 Vanagon in anything higher than 80 degree temps for fear of frying the engine if the oil turns to water at around 250 degrees.

You guys should have gotten a group shot with your buses around that old GMC motor home in the last part of the vid. It would have looked like the buses returning to the "mother ship". :) Great vid as always. You guys have too much fun!

well, 220-230 is about as hot as your want it. if you get a digital laser thermometer from harbor freight you can go to the back and take temps at stops. i'd recommend not turning it off during gas stops. we always leave them running, it's when you stop them that you have problems.
@@VWLifeVW Ok ill invest in one of those thermometers. Doing the dipstick test, my engine is definitively running hot though. All my tins are in place except the bottom tins (attached to the heater boxes). Engine compartment is sealed off. Dog-house cooler, valves adjusted. I think Ive covered it all. Why is it so scalding hot still?
@@markdeartola1154 wait a minute you need all your tins! Even the ones on the heater boxes. Are you talking about the two curved ones that go towards the back? Those are often referred to as the ski slopes. If those are missing you need to get them
VW Life Yes! The ski slopes. I picked some up last week and will install when I pull the engine. Yet everyone has told me that while they’re there for a reason, those by themselves shouldn’t be the singular cause for my engine being so hot I can barely even grip the deck lid handle, let alone the searing dipstick!!
Awesome trip, looks like it was a lot of fun! Camera work brilliant as usual, there must be a lot of behind the scenes action to set the camera shots of the convoys at various times, and do you use a drone? Or was this all from standing on top of the bus? A great adventure, thanks for sharing, greetings from UK!
