The engagement of Albert Victor and Mary was pretty much arranged. There was no romance there, so Mary was not crushed in a romantic sense. By the way, Mary had nothing to do with arranging the funeral.
Agreed 💯
The video clips frequently have nothing to do with the text.
It was made in China .
@@bjmartin5225 And the narration is AI. Far too much of this kind of garbage on UA-cam.
At 11:41 they talk about a court and the clip shows the US flag. And they had very modern cars in 1890.😁
The individual depicted at about 1:46 is John Dalton, the renowned Irish chemist. He died in 1844 when AV's dad was a baby. AV's tutor John Dalton was a different one, a clergyman.
Yeah not great research and videos and photos of 40s/50s America is quite honestly lazy.
@@CarolLeslie-x5n Listen to you,,,,,,,, Mr. World wonder
@@CarolLeslie-x5n absolutely
And, if I remember correctly, the father of Hugh Dalton who was Chancellor of the Exchequer in the Labour government after WW2.
The John Dalton shown in the video died in 1844. He couldn't have been the prince's tutor.
Do we need a Canadian robot to tell us about our royal family?
“We” don’t have a royal family, they are merely those entitled foreign aristocrats who appear on our money…🇨🇦
Victoria was queen of great Britain, not just England 🙄
Empress of India and so on and so forth!!!
It's a term, a figure of speech. Don't know why people take offence to this.
Potato, po-tah-toe......😄
Thanks for your input while policing the comments on UA-cam. What would we do without folks like you?
I shouldn't worry about it. I can't be offended by the ignorance, they don't intentionaly mean to insult the rest of the U.K.
At least it gives us a chance to do a Capaldi moment😁.
He must have been thick if he is compared unfavorably with his brother George , George the fifth was an effective King for the times but he was politely considered "limited" !!
It was his education that was considered limited, not his intelligence. Intellect and intelligence are not the same thing. George was quite witty and intuitive
He may have had dyslexia and/or ADHA or some other disorder.
The interbreeding of the European Royals was well known.
There was more pride to be taken in sports, such as boxing, fencing, hunting and riding.
Most of the royals put more stock in the army & navy commands than scholars.
I don't think someone "thick" was considered to be viceroy of Ireland back then like they did with him.
Far from it being a disaster, Princess Mary of Teck was very lucky that Albert Victor died before they got married. Not only was Albert very dim-witted, he was also riddled with venereal diseases from his disordered and promiscuous sexual life, so it could not have been a surprise to her that Albert Victor had another woman in his sights at the same time they were engaged. It was very fortunate for her, and the nation, that she and George were married and that he succeeded to the throne as George V.
Good looks my arse
Do you think an AI might be involved in the narration?
God bless Mary of Teck ❤❤❤ ❤❤❤
General disease was quite common as was the man having affairs before and after marriage. Women could after marriage but usually had to be more discrete
Marriage was more of a financial contract. The need for heirsbout weighed any romance. Hence the old saying that a new bride should lie back and think of England.
@@harrietfisher6522the voice is very mechanical with numerous inaccurate stress on words
He had cold, dead fish eyes. Emptiness. Not handsome at all.
So did Queen Victoria.
And, I think because Victoria was in vogue for so long, her look became vogue. Hence Albert Victor would have been considered very handsome. Like Brad Pitt? Chris Hemsworth neither of those guys would have been considered handsome them. Times change.
You are right , cold eyes .

Thank you. Great video. I can't recall hearing/ knowing this much about Prince Albert Victor. If so, I don't remember. One never knows what they're going to learn ..... especially on youtube.
The halting voice over doesn’t work and the modern terminology doesn’t work either. But the big issue of almost every You Tuber is the desire to illustrate every word of the script. The word courtroom is illustrated with a U.S. court, the word hospital is a shot of a 1960 ward, save time and money in Library material and try not to do this, it’s annoying.
Canadian defect speech. Oooot.
Agree with your assessment of the voiceover. Extremely irritating.
This is being petty don't you think? It's a video dude.
Using clips of a late 1920's to early '30's Royal limousine for an 1892 impending wedding. That's another way-off combo of clip vs voice over narration.
Stop watching then.
As someone who has not eaten for far longer , I find the idea of him dying from starvation after only two weeks , hard to believe .
I watched a documentary about him ,it had many references to where people at the time and were contemporaries of his had written how bad their tutor was. That he really didn't like the royal children and basically beat the 2 oldest boys all the time. He also told everybody they were stupid. Papers, letters, his journals and other he things that he had written at the time and actually his school work showed that he was actually quite Intelligent. A lot of things in this video are rumors that are being repeated. A few searchs more you find a lot more information back by contemporary evidence. I have read a lot of books on this time and the two older sons and they all agree about the tutor. The man was considered a very horrible human being.
Albert Victor must have been very stupid indeed if his brother George was brighter. All diplomatic correspondence (France, USA, Spain, Netherlands, Belgium) mention that the King could read at only the most basic level - ,'like that of a boy around 9 years'.
@@suzanking5625 That's because he left earlier in his education with his brother to go into the navy. Because they hated their tutor so much. They jumped on going in the navy really fast.
@@katherinehutton9870 Can't blame them at all. The sad result was that neither was educated.
@@suzanking5625 No it wasn't their fault you're right. I think his father had something against it because of the way his parents treated him. He was never smarter than his sister and they always let him know it. And Queen Victoria pretty much blamed him for everything. Especially the death of Albert.. That had to be horrible. I think he just passing the pain down.
@@suzanking5625What you dont understand is the difference between intellect and intelligence. George V wasnt very educated, true, but he was intelligent and intuitive. He was smart enough to save his monarchy in a time when most monarchies in Europe were toppled. Not being educated does not mean that you arent smart. Same as being educated, doesnt necessarily make you smart
Royals being their usual selves, not much different than the current one on the throne.
One can't expect too much of them with their intellect, upbringing and health issues from the continual inbreeding happening in the Royal Houses of Europe.
For many of the Royals, this state of affairs led to tragic results and the downfall of many of their dynasties. Their incessant squabbling amongst the other Royal Houses, insanity and bad decisions caused the deaths of millions of people over hundreds of years with their nonsensical wars. Good thing action was taken after WWI, dethroning and sending many of them into exile. The ones that remained in power had their legislative powers reduced or eliminated in an attempt to quell all the war mongering in Europe.
He was probably bi sexual. His brother George's children had one child that was bi sexual/ Gay. There is also some speculation Edward as well may have been.
Yes. The late Queen's uncle, George of Kent was bisexual. He had affairs with a few writers. He did in a plane crash during WWII.
The current Prince Edward ? Gay ?

@@PattyMarshall-l8v And you're the world expert for judging whether someone is attractive or not, are you?
His type of looks were in vogue in his time and back then he was a catch! Due to the lack of effective treatments and sometimes the mercury treatments he was also lucky that he died before he became insane from his venereal disease.
You can still call a Tobacco Store and ask, "Do you have Prince Albert in a can?" Answer: "Yes." You: "Well you better let him out!"
Is that still making the rounds!?…haven’t heard that since I was a kid in the ‘60’s!😵💫
The thought is that Albert was an auditory learner as he took instruction well. This was noted in his naval and army days. The other is that he had a learning issue like dyslexia, etc.
As for Princess Mary of Teck, she was an approved fiancée by Queen Victoria. Her mother was a granddaughter of King George III. The familiar links made Mary a perfect choice for a future Queen. When Albert Victor died unexpectedly it devastated his family. George his brother was thrown together with Mary during and after the funeral. Mary helped him mourn the loss of his brother.
I think the AI software reading the script needs updating to stop the halting after each word
One armed page turner 😂😂
Why are almost all of these narrations these days AI???
@@stevenklimecky4918Good question. I've noticed the same, a marked increase.
You find it shocking that Albert was wearing a locket from his ex-girlfriend up until the moment of his death the day before his scheduled wedding to another woman. Yet the current King continued an affair with a woman right up until and through, and after his wedding with his wife, Diana. Moreover that “other woman” attended their wedding. so if Albert can’t get a break and have his reputation repaired and less scandalized, nor should that other woman.
Excellent comment. We live in a society today that will accept any type of immorality. King Charles married his mistress.
It seems William may have been following in his father's footsteps.
The woman we were told would'nt be queen but kings consort, another lie that the masses belived at the time but now she is the queen!

Ah, Albert was just like his father.
Sounds like he was bisexual or maybe even gay. Either way, given that homosexuality was strictly forbidden in the UK at that time, to have a bisexual or gay king on the throne would have gone down like lead weight. Poor guy!
There have been several gay or bisexual rulers in England but the usually had “beards” to cover.
They wouldn’t have allowed it to happen, hence, some of the conspiracy theories of how he died
Homosexualty was considered a royal vice and royalty got away with it...err.
maybe he changed name and moved to another country.
I liked this, but not the intermittent non sensical clips from the mid 20th century…

I recall as a boy, that Prince Albert was one of the most famous Jack the Ripper suspects.
He died of Syphilis, which can cause insanity.
He was also suspected of being Jack The Ripper . . however numerous members of the nobility attested that he was at a lodge, or some place, during the murders . .
After that, he was placed in an insane asylum where he died.
He didn't die of syphilis. The way he died and how high his fever was does not follow syphilis. It was a very quick death and no other symptoms that would match syphilis at all. It was believed to be typhus which was the same thing that killed his grandfather. Typhus was very rampant at that time and was a fast killer. With high fever, which if it didn't go down by a certain amount of time was it was almost certain death. 1 or 2 days is all it would take to die. Plus no treatments for syphilis were ever given to him In the time before he died it Or the years before he died. Which usually shows up if someone dies of syphilis. Mercury was never prescribed to him.
I do not think AV ever was placed in a mental health facility,
@@anthonytroisi6682 You're right. He died at home in his own room. Queen Alexandra kept it as a shrine to him and would go in there and sit. They were quite correct on that it devastated her. She never did get over it She would go in there and sit for hours....

Prince Albert Victor (Eddie) was simply following in the footsteps of his bisexual father, the future Edward VII, who travelled in the royal yacht to see the homoerotic models of Baron von Gloeden in Taormina.
Bertie (Edward VII) was voraciously heterosexual. There is no evidence whatsoever that he...or Albert Victor for that matter...had same sex relationships...the latter is suspected of having them but nothing more...literally nothing.
Edward Bell was not bi-sexual, he was a raging heterosexual.
Where is Taormina? Never heard of the place before.

The AI narrations tarnish this video. The mispronunciations and halting speech puts a dent in this otherwise great historical journey
No such word as 'mentee'. The word is the name, as mentor is, 'Telemachus'. The reference is to Classical Greece.🙂Also, do not be misled into thinking that the idea of a monarch being married to a Catholic was merely disapproved of, for, following the intellectual and physical bloodbath of the English Reformation under the Tudors, it was actually against the law. (This is one of the reasons that The House of Hanover became part of British history since, following the death of the childless Stuart Queen Anne -she of the legs - George, Elector of Hanover was the first in line, albeit a long way down the line, of succession to be a protestant.)
Soooo, there is a tradition of the sister/s of the heir to be vile and evil to his bride, while the family uses it power to prevent members being held accountable for any crime /s they may have committed.... 😮

To this day British Royals do not marry Catholics , the King is forbidden to do so.
That is no longer the case, since 2013, but a Catholic cannot rule. I also think this applies to a royal marrying someone of any, or most, other religions. I believe the Queen Consort, Camilla, was even raised in a Roman Catholic ‘household’ (her father), although she was never actually of that faith. Best of all one, of the acts passed would allow Prince George (+ siblings) to have a same sex marriage, like any other person in the U.K. Although consent from a reigning monarch, would need to be given (as with other royals in the line of succession require). I think this is all correct (my mother was very interested in all aspects of the royals)
