    Those Toyo A36's get hard and loud fairly early in their life. There's a noticeable difference vs new, and even more so vs better tires altogether.

    Yeah, that’s one major gripe I have with some modern vehicles is the ride and comfort of the seats is on the harsh side. Even when you have everything adjusted properly and drive a little slower, still can be just a little bumpy. If only cars had a way to adjust the firmness or softness of the suspension, definitely would be interesting if something like that existed on every day vehicles.

    Thanks for the video! We are looking at a cx-5 presently to buy to replace our small car. I couldn't agree with you more about big wheels and small tires. Our Acura MDX Advance has 20" wheels with a 50 profile tires and the ride is so harsh. Unfortunately, it has become a status symbol. I'd much prefer a 19 inch tire with 55 or 60 profile tires for a smoother ride for potholes and the like. The concept of premium models coming with huge wheels is a real head shaker. At the same time I am torn between CX5 and CX5 turbo because 184hp is just so lacking. Our previous V6 CX-9 was the perfect car and sold at 14 years over 100k miles with only a leaky shock as the sole failed part. Mazdas are great.

    Noticed the chips on hood. Do Mazdas chip easy? I’m thinking of getting CX-50. Non-turbo. Any thoughts? Bad thing is 20 inch wheels so there’s that. But I’m coming from a 2004 Civic so to me it’s not so rough all things considered.

    I just traded my Mazda 6 signature for a 2024 CX5 signature....the seats are much much more comfortable and the sound system has been upgraded. Did you really get better gas milage with premium gas? Also just wondering what you think about the turbo vs the other engine? I'm turbo all the way but wondering the longitivtiy? I will say that my Mazda 6 seat on the driver side was replaced and the one they put in was much softer. Mazda does keep improving little by little but I hear that the paint chips.

      With 93 octane and only 700 miles total on my new 2024, I'm peaking at 33.1 MPG at around 65 MPH average. When I swap to my favorite full synthetic, I hope to reach 36 MPG. Non-turbo 2024 of course.
      BTW, I've been doing this and tracking the results since the 1980's. I usually experience a 20% increase in MPG and 10% increase in power.

    • @joebruhin2098
      @joebruhin2098 4 місяці тому

      I averaged 30 mpg in my 6 turbo with 87 gas. Too soon for the 2024 cx5 sig, but it's a bit sad a little less than 25 so far. 20% increase, had to believe but I will try it, it's a buck more a gallon....do you moss the turbo? @@vlreviews

    • @vlreviews
      @vlreviews  4 місяці тому +1

      I don't miss the Turbo. The power increase is nice, but simply couldn't use it. Too much traffic.
      You don't get full power with any of Mazdas newer turbos unless you use 93 octane as per their website. I've known about this power increase for 4 decades in a wide variety of tested vehicles. Foreign, domestic, carburated,, fuel injected, etc.
      When you combine full synthetic with high octane fuel, your MPG goes up dramatically when not flooring it. Again, I have 4 decades of testing to prove this.
      Lastly, my son's 2018 Mazda3 2.0L, achieved 44 MPG with the above mods at 70 MPH and 3 people. With just 1 person, it peaked at 48 MPG highway consistently. Many owners have confirmed this over the years.

    Something that I have noticed in other reviews is that the back seats do not lay flat if the front seat is set for someone at or about six feet tall. The back seat will catch on the front seat. Seems like a bit of an oversight for a CUV that people will buy at least in part for the cargo space. Have you noticed this? Can the back seat head rests be removed?

    • @jasonliu2383
      @jasonliu2383 4 місяці тому +1

      Interestingly enough the US backseat headrests are taller/bigger than those found in other markets like the Japanese market, those models of CX-5 don't run into this issue and also have more rearview mirror visibility. Some people have swapped them out. Might be a regulation thing with the US

The roads are mostly OK here in Florida but I can imagine how it would be in Ohio. I wanted a quick rapid transport luxurious car this time around. I traded in a Honda Odyssey minivan. Missing from the 2022 CX5 turbo performance drop presentation is how the owner took care of the turbo itself - did he/his wife let it idle for 15-30 seconds after driving or did they unknowingly shut the engine off immediately after parking and thereby cooking onto the turbo shaft/bearings burnt oil deposits over time? This will cause the performance drop experienced. The 2024 NA cx5 transmission concerns should be a separate presentation.
