The girls look noticeably younger in the prologue, especially Vi. The dead woman was the girls' mother, yes. The prologue serves, among other things, to show the enforcers' brutality, give even more reason for Vi to dislike the topside than she would already have, show the stark contrast between Piltover and the undercity (with Vi seeing Piltover radiant and bright up there while her people are being slaughtered and repressed by them just below) and show their oppression.
@@mauriciofreitas1971 I just lost a few brain cells when he said 13:51 have they explored right after they watched this episode where Vander literally talks about the flashback and how they parents died.
@@DuBstep115 He probably didn't really get it because he was under the impression it was a flash forward, so it never connected to him. Hopefully he thinks back on it later.
The deal between Vander and Grayson (the female enforcer) was explicitly mentioned in episode 1, where she said "We had a deal, Vander," and proceeded to mention that Vander was to keep his people away from the streets of Piltover and, in turn, she would stay out of his business. I don't think the enforcers are actively searching for the kids due to the explosive hextech stones, but rather they need a a lynchpin, a face to show to keep things looking like it's under control, as to not harm the "utopia"-esque picture of Piltover, which I believe is contrasted by Jayce's case, attempting suicide in a "perfect" environment. Grayson touched on this in the 1st ep, saying something along the lines of "The people need to feel safe."
I love how you’re pricing the narrative elements that will be paid off in the 3rd episode. I absolutely love how tight the storytelling is in this story. There’s so much narrative tension that resolves (or escalates) perfectly by the 3rd episode.
NO SPOILERS its crazy because as someone that knows of the lore and these characters in league of legends, I know where there characters end up in the end and what there like but in the in game lore with Vi and Powder they are one of the only characters that dont get told there whole storys in game and we dont know much about what happened to them as kids, which is so cool cause then us people that know the characters are also kind of blind in what happeneds in this series. the only thing we did know is that there was a big explosion that changed powders life
This doesn’t really spoil anything but if you knew league of legends this show is 1000 times better. There’s so many things that are paid tribute to in this that people that don’t play league will never understand. Hands down this is better if you know league
@@LoLTerminus I honestly don't know that it increases the enjoyment that much, i've watched quite a few reactors watch this show and honestly the people who know the most about league seem the most disconnected and distracted by what they know from the game, while the people who know nothing seem to get really into it without that distraction. That's not everyone obviously but I think the show is great enough that you really don't need the league knowledge to get pretty near max enjoyment from it.
My take on Marcus was just that he's all talk. Kinda young, thinks he's the shit, wants to prove it. Arrogant. I don't think he's got beef or from there. He absolutely seems like a piltovian who's never been to the lanes/zaun and thinks he's gonna go in and clean it up cuz he doesn't realize what a small fish he is.
Its crazy to think that there's 157 (and counting) characters in League of Legends with so much (too much) effort put into them that they can have their own series and can be unique in their own way and be as interesting as the other. While also taking place in the same universe which makes 2 completely different storylines intertwine with one another that somehow connect as if they were meant to connect. Although the game is full of toxicity (due to players), the universe that they created is so beautifully made and just so mesmerizing.
The prologue of ep 1 is the past, where Vander took in Vi and Powder after their parents were killed in the first battle of revolution between Piltover and the Undercity
Heimer is actually a "yordle", the alpha predators of Runeterra. He is a lot more older than you think. The burden he only carries is the knowledge of the Rune Wars, during that time mortals was using the World Runes(just compare them to infinity stones) to wage wage war against each other. Many civilizations was destroyed until a certain interference came, a purple man who collected the runes and store them to a location that not many mortals know. Let's say most kingdoms have had PTSD from those wars, if you think PnZ(Piltover and Zaun) is very afraid of Magic you won't like to live in the fair, bright and kind kingdom of Demacia🙂
@@Calder90 most likely not. They have a comic. Id much rather they go further into stories still untold - like frejlord and inner noxus. But if i had to guess, i think bilgewater would be season 2
@@zephloe ithink they will have other shows that will explore other regions though the only region that might show up in arcane is bilge water. I given how many more characters they can introduce still feom this area I think they will stay in piltover and zaun
Speaking of the flashback, the song Powder is singing at the beginning of episode 1 is pretty much the representation of the relationship between Piltover(Topside) and the Undercity
I just wrapped episode 2 and had to find a video on UA-cam that I could share my thoughts. The big thing I'd like to share is just how incredibly in two short episodes they've developed these characters. I've never had a "gasp" moment two episodes deep in any other TV series. Ever. I did at the end of ep. 2. Vi, Powder, dang, just the cast as whole! The creators did great at pulling me in. I'm so psyched for the next leg of this show!
Ah yes, the enforcer's voice is pretty iconic in my eye's..yeah, that's her. Shohreh Aghdashloo. She plays one of my favorite characters in "The Expanse", Chrisjen Avasarala. Highly recommend that show. The entire cast is stellar. Great watch, probably the best sci-fi going today....actually, not probably...it is. Screaming Firehawks in the building.
You guyz are the best reaction channels in youtube. You guys know what you're talking about, articulate, smart, and make some really good points, unlike other reaction channels out there, just fishing out for views.
The World Of League Of Legenda is call Runeterra(magic world*) In Runeterra magic is a strong fundamental of everthing, and in the past we have the Runic War, a great war that put fear of magic and anything arcane in the world. Piltover and Zaun is just a little bit of the world, wait until you guys see Demacia, Noxus, Ionia and ever other regions, but I'm sure that Arcane is just about those 2 citys, at least, for now, but who knows?! Anyeay, great reaction and thoughs as always, much love to the Rerl Rejects.
So, just a little bit of lore behind of magic on League of Legends history, magic in Runeterra (the world League and all the regions you see in the series are based) have a very bad rep because of the great runic wars that happened in the past, that's why Heimerdinger (the little fluffy thing) is afraid of, because he is 300+ years old and saw all the destruction that comes if magic is handled incorrectly or falls in the wrong hands, there is another region in league called Demacia, where magic is prohibited and any magic users are hunted and imprisoned and/or killed (btw, there's is a comic series published by Marvel at the title of Lux, wich tells the history behind this city, you should really read it if have the chance), so thats why magic is considered a "bad" thing
This Show had me hooked from the first Episode. And the first act has me soo hyped up for act 2 on saturday! Love how much you guys give reasonable ideas, theories and thoughts of each episodes.
I binged this the moment the kids went to bed! Seems to be a regular thing that the majority of the fans of this show are not familiar with the game.. but its definitely being googled by all of us on a regular now, that's for sure 👏
If you want a summary of why people might be worried about magic watch the “Call Of Power” cinematic. Its 3 minutes long and requires no other context.
Would there be a season two? I think Jayce and Viktor's story would be perfect for season two. Being playing the game for seven years now, and I am so happy to see this show!!!!!
I'm thinking that the seasons if there are more than just this one, would focus on regions, this one being Piltover Zaun, focusing on Powder and Vi, but also covering a lot of the other champs from this region. Next could possibly be Demacia, specifically the civil war. To expand upon the magic lore what with how much Demacians hate it. While also having a follow through theme of a complicated sibling relationship with of Garen and Lux. And after demacia's story it could easily lead to Noxus.
Lmao I really hope they get to some of the demonic and horror elements of league... eg Fiddlesticks, Chogath, Khazix, Evelyn that shit would be awesome
