- A new documentary about the Bonzo Dog Band, containing footage from their recent concert at Koko in London and interviews with Neil Innes, Rodney Slater, Bob Kerr & Elliott Randall
THE GREATEST BAND IN THE WORLD! The banjo player (Vernon Dudley Bohay-Nowell) was my art teacher at school and I watched him MAKE that Banjo during our art lessons! - HELLO SIR!!!
Was my art teacher also back in the early 70s. Southborough school Hook Ace of Spades.
Bonzo is such an awesome group of guys! To be friends with people like the Beatles and get onto Magical Mystery Tour says something about their magnitude. But more than that, they know how to have fun with their art, and then connect it to their fans.
I've been a fan for more than 20 years, but need a fresh dose every bit or so. Thanks you.
I was them in action 3 times and count them among the greatest gigs of my life.
I was lucky enough to see them when they got back together again in the early 70s. Always one of my favourite bands.
RIP Neil Innes.
Great stuff, still funny and still great musicians
So unique so brilliant engish madness love em ❤❤❤❤
This puts me in mind of a chance meeting of a sewing machine and a trouser press on an operating table.
So much fun. So much joy.
Elliot Randall ! Genius player! Played guitar on the original recording of Reeling in the Years Steely Dan great to see and hear this connection with my beloved Bonzos
The guy playing the little trumpet (or cornet) intro was the really handsome Bob Kerr of The New Vaudeville Band ❤
Saw them many times at The Cartoon in Croydon. Fantastic. Brings back great memories
Fantastic video thanks for sharing
The last live concert that I went to with my beloved wife and son, and I soo embarrassed them both with singing along with all th lyrics, word perfect, if a bit out of key!!!!
Truly wonderful stuff!¡!
Their University and College gigs were always outstanding Dada performance .... of musical mayhem
👍👍👍
Beautiful
Under appreciated!
🙏🤗🍺cheers
lovely
they the Urban Spaceman baby!!they the Urban Spaceman baby!!
Spike Jones' band preceded Bonzo and really perfected the combination of excellent musicianship with visual comedy shtick.
The best New Years Eve ever was sometime in the 70's (its all a bit hazy) at a nightclub in Beckenham Kent, it may have been called the Mistral club but it changed its name several times from Beckenham Ballroom, Mistral, Tites and Lautrecs to name a few. The Bonzos were on fine form and a great time was had by all.
I was there too! It was the Mistral Club at that time.
@@jean-pierredeclemy7032 After posting the comment I asked my wife and she said that it was called Mistral when they had live bands, I also saw Ben E. king there too and a couple of other not so well known bands as well. Great times.
I remember after the midnight chimes Viv saying "its 197?, so what" or something. I still can't remember the year, 70, 71 or 72 I think@@SidBonkers51
Pay America please ! 🙏🤗🍺cheers
Gotta love a rock band with a tuba. Herbie Flowers used to break one out during Sky concerts from what I've read.
That's me at 0.49. Fame won't spoil me!
Laurence Francis will you be at the O2 ?
The gent with the gent on his t-shirt?
@@leifvejby8023 That's Viv, the ex-leader of the pack, on his shirt. I don't know if Neil Innes is in this. It's him on keyboards and guitar/uke in the later event, the one with Bonzo Dog and the Rutles.
Where is Roger Ruskin Spear?
We in these times need another band like these guys. To much woke shite around we are here for three score and ten make it the best you can for you and yours your a long time deid 🏴🏴🏴🏴🏴
WELL SAID!
Viv is missed.
He's still around.
I believe I saw them supporting Heinz and the Tornados back in the sixties. Wish I could have that confirmed. Anyone?
The most underrated band of their time brilliant
Bless em all Marcel Duchamp would be proud or indifferent. lol Jesus as an update in 2021 what are the bloody chances 2 Dada lover lovers???
I'll stick to the records.
What THIS world needs is a Bozo reunion! God do we need non-sense!
Many of them have sadly passed now
is that James May playing keys?
I’ve been saying fir decades…BONZOS BELONG IN THE RnR HOF….once some idiot there realizes all they did and just how influential they were!!
Seems like they should have limited it to just 6-7 guys, and worked hard to have Slater, Speer, Innes, and Legs Larry be there. Then add a worthwhile singer and bass player, and maybe a keyboardist/guitarist. That could have kept it in context of their great years, instead of this huge circus outfit.
Is this brilliant or just brilliant
brilliant stuff. but did I miss the mention of vivian stanshall. ?
I was waiting for that, too. A card saying something like "Dedicated to the Memory of Vivian Stanshall" would have been welcome, but apparently somebody else died more recently so they got the nod.
who died recently?
I forget. There's a card near the end, I believe.
@@mrkipw8735 If you watch the 40th anniversary show they mourn the passing of Viv and Denis with a minutes violence.
@@johnsturdy6429 Larry's wife.
punk was junk, all we needed was The Bonzo Dog Doo Dah Band. Punk way ahead of the times.
See billy not there he turnef into paul mac
No Viv, no Bonzos and the inevitable appearance of Stephen Fry (yawn) makes it even more irrelevant.
Yes Viv was obviously missed, but all the remaining Bonzos were there.
terrible social distancing displayed throughout
Hurrah
Sorry but this performance lacks the finesse of the original band.
And right from the start, "Jollity Farm" done in the style of the Wurzels. I miss Viv Stanshall's cut-glass delivery.
It's pretty crap, actually. And I speak as a regular at Bob Kerr's Whoopee Band gigs at the Half Moon, Putney, some years ago.
Glad to see Sam Spoons is still the most handsome of all of you.
Nick.
Fat homosexual Stephen Fry getting in on it as per usual.
