I own the S22 Ultra and there are some points where you are not fully informed about its features. Do your homework, the Pixel does NOT have better battery life if all things are optimized similarly. Nobody cares about dust around the lenses - this happens with EVERY phone. The throttling issue is not that big a deal and Samsung has fixed it. The camera on the S22 Ultra has a myriad of adjustments. If you are just using the auto mode, the Pixel will often take pictures that appear to be better. But once you learn how to adjust the camera settings, the S22 Ultra takes pictures that are as good or superior to the Pixel as well as the iPhone Pro Max. The optimized setting for the display varies the refresh rate from 1 Htz to 120 Htz, so it is going to be slower in some cases on purpose. You don't need blazing speeds if you are reading web pages. Also, the S22 Ultra takes half the time to charge that the iPhone Pro Max requires. This is a major advantage. Dex can be connected to any display via the web. Dex is only a major feature to individuals who do not have a laptop or PC. You can download Android Auto. If your car is newer, you can connect wirelessly. Older cars don't connect wirelessly. Older cars don't have the software that allows you to control your car's AC and other features. I charge my phone up to 85% (it is an option in the Settings that extends battery life) and I easily get through an entire day on one charge.
I love experimenting with Dex. Absolutely worth 50 bucks on the resale market to grab the first party Samsung dock, so you can get a 1440p on an external monitor. If you have the tablet, you can use that and you don't actually need the first party dock to get QHD. Any USBC hub Will do the trick on the tab S7 or S8 models
Benchmark don't mean shit especially to the smarter Android community but to the average consumer they pay attention way too much to the numbers and to those results than to actual real life performance because without a doubt even with the Benchmark numbers before, the Galaxy S22 Ultra was a beast on paper but I'm referring to the SD 8 gen 1
My biggest issue with the throttling is a few things. 1) they're being pretty deceptive about it until they got caught. 2) if the phone and the chip can't work together to produce a reasonable thermal experience, they should use a less powerful chip, and charge us less money. That's the major problem, when it is throttled under heavy load, the processor is not that much more powerful than say a 765 g. At that point they would be better off just using an 870 chip and charging $100 less. There was no throttling on most of the 865 models, the tab S7 was not throttling. It's not just Samsung, OnePlus and Xiaomi have been struggling with the thermals involved with the last two generations of Snapdragon Qualcomm chips. In the exynos chip is sort of a disaster and its own right. I still think the money spot is something with the 855 or 865 processor if you want 5g. Those devices still had expandable storage, mst, aptx HD, a charger in the box, some of them even had a headphone jack still. It's one thing to throttle, high intensity games to keep the phone from getting too hot, but when you're using thousands and thousands of apps, and the throttling is not reflected on benchmark scores, I really can't blame geekbench. For what it's worth, you can still run benchmark test with your s22 ultra and other devices that are banned, but they just don't really reflect the real world usage of the phone. The lack of expandable storage really grinds my gears. This is supposed to be a professional level device, and it can film 8K which eats up storage like crazy. I find it kind of insulting that they have expandable storage in the a53, which is like $350, but not on $1,300 phones? To be fair, pixel doesn't have expandable storage either. And it doesn't have a desktop mode in my opinion, dex is the best feature Samsung has. Certainly doesn't have a built-in stylus, which is probably the second coolest feature Samsung has. I absolutely love Samsung one UI for tablets, But I've been a little disappointed and how Samsung is removing a lot of pro features and effectively punishing people that spend the most on mobile phones. And it's also probably two or $300 more expensive than it should be, at least. I was really hoping when the pixel 6 came out at $600 in the Pixel 6 Pro was 899, Samsung would feel some pressure to lower prices. And I guess they did offer some pre-order bonuses, which is nice, but the downside to that is you don't even know about the throttling until after you buy it and your return window is over....
I own the S22 Ultra and I have received the update that eliminates throttling. For me, I have not seen any difference whatsoever. Samsung probably throttled some apps to save battery life. I am not sure that is dishonest. I do understand that Samsung did not throttle the synthetic benchmarks programs, and that is understandable because no other phone manufacturer throttles these benchmark programs.
What bugs me about unlocking the phone is that sometimes when it's unlocked by any of the 2 biometrics it stays on the lock screen then you have to swipe on the lock screen to get back to the task you were doing. Other times it doesnt do that. I don't get it... I dug through the settings and can't find any thing to remedy that
@@stevestrong5075 I figured it only stays on the lock screen when you use face unlock, then you have to swipe. Probably just a security measure so your not mistakenly unlocking your phone when you bring it up to your face. especially when using always on display just to glance at your phone. Finger print scanner automatically opens the phone absolutely perfectly.
Should have done the review and your thoughts as of a few days ago because I'm major software update came about to fix a lot of issues and it's only going to get better come future updates because the same thing happened with the Galaxy S21 Ultra in the very beginning.
Tech tablets just waited for the new update and was displeased with the results. The issue is the chip. Exynos Chip is just not very good, and even the eight gen one runs too hot and requires a lot of throttling.
Just upgraded to s22 ultra from my note 10 plus 4g model after hesitating for a few weeks. It's not a huge upgrade but a nice upgrade with the 5g and the 120 hertz Tmobile gave me a thousand for the note 10 plus, I guess it was time.
