Just a heads up for tomorrow, there will not be an episode of RimWorld again. As I mention at the end of the video, I was sick the night before last and normally the next day I do not wear my dentures because stomach acid and scar tissue does not mix well and since we didn't have RimWorld the day before I decided to just get recording done anyways. Bad idea, really bothered my gums so instead of continuing to aggravate things I am going to give them the day they need.
Ryan, take care and please prio your health, not us dumb watchers.
@@tomt5745 It's fine, I really didn't think an hour of RimWorld would have been an issue... and it would have probably been fine... but then I went to do an hour of minecraft as well and I think that was past the limit. Nothing to worry about, just a ton of irritation. If I was dumb and kept pushing it then I would most likely end up doing some damage but should be fine after a day without stuff rubbing against them.
Rim & Ryan. A marriage made in heaven :)
The deep drill infestation is way smaller than the thick roof infestation, the deep drill not gonna match the population like the thick roof, you can have 1000 paws they will keep the same size infestation as always, I know that because bugs are my mechs
So, they don’t scale with wealth?
@@ratramnus279 not like the thick roof infestation, maybe a megascarab or a megaspider more because wealth, but way less than the thick roof
I wholeheartedly prefer the long-range scanner over deep drilling. There's the bug risk, it not really fitting with my base designs, and I honestly find it more interesting to have to do the logistics of it than just have a passive gen at home. Then having transports (STRS, namely) just makes it a no brainer to me.
WRT watermills not working at the coast: maybe there's a wave generator mod? These worlds might not have tidal effects, but certainly winds on them would cause waves. Hmmm, never thought about it, but it's actually a little weird that every rimworld has regular eclipses... makes you wonder if its not moons causing it.
Hope you're feeling better by now, and if not, then hoping for soon!
Deep drill infestation don't scale with wealth, they are basically the same size independently by colony wealth
does not scale with wealth, but does it scale with population? Those are two independent variables to the game. Considering there is nothing I can think of in the game that does not scale in some way, I can't see drill infestations being the one thing that is the exact same every single time.
@@Ryan123220 they don't scale with population either, I think you get around 10 bugs with 2/3 being Megaspiders and the rest being a mix of megascarab and speleopedes.
@@Ryan123220 Francis John does a max population right now and his deep drills spawned at max 4 megaspiders(with some smaller bugs) so I suppose it's just random
no im not crying
If you're worried about bugs, you have a LOT of places to fill in... Frankly you're very lucky there haven't been any so far.
bugs outside are less of a concern, but deep drills would be best not being randomly placed outside of defences
As you (might) know from my screenshots in Discord, the infestations scale way out of hand once you're past a certain wealth/population threshold. Having a few dozen hives on an active map is just... not worth it, to say the least 😐
Bugs spawned by deep drills are not affected by colony's wealth they are always about 1-4 hives amount of bugs and can be killed easily
is there a way to have mountain roof removed as you go? maybe through a mod or maybe already in a mod you have? it'd take forever, but it would also be much safer.
I normally used Expanded Roofing to dig out mountain roof. I plan on getting it eventually, but not right now as I want that extra challenge
Could always go for an in-between: either the roof bomb mod that takes 100 steel + component to blow up all roof over a 3x3 square, or the roof miner mod that takes N pawn-hours and electricity to do the same thing using a drill.
Omni Drill Mod doesn't - as far as i know, atrract bugs
I have stopped using "unlimited free resource" mods years ago because it feels bad. I would rather boost what traders have and trade produced stuff for raw materials vs just having a hole in the ground that gives us all we need.
