As a genuine country boy from the hills of Virginia, you pretty much nailed how I feel about pop culture infiltration on country way of life. It's a huge problem in Appalachian territories. Drugs are killing people. Anytime something gets so generic parody so great actually improves it, you know you're in the trap.

I honestly have so much respect for this guy. He does not compromise. He totally knows his humor is not for everyone and can be kinda obnoxious but still you find yourself genuinely cracking up at the delivery of some of his jokes. Then he makes a troll song and it's just a great peace of music. Genuine artist.

Yep. I mean, I like country music (along with rock, metal, rap... a little bit of pretty much everything) but there is just enough truth in his comedy that it resonates. That may be why some people get upset about it.... lol That being said, despite the nonsense lyrics, its actually a pretty well put together and catchy tune... lol

I feel like whatever genre he writes in, even if he’s trying to be as generic and basic as possible, it still sounds like him, he really has his own unique sound

I have been a writer’s demo singer since I was 14, which is over 40 yearsm😱. I am not a country singer and never even listened to it growing up, but many of the calls I got, especially in the 90s, were country songs. The (no) range factor you mentioned is real. No range required. And I find I stay tightly wound for those sessions because you can’t do anything vocally that a country singer can’t do, so you’re extremely limited 😂. I learned very early on to tuck any creativity away and swallow my pride when doing country sessions. As a singer, I don’t want anyone to hear them, but I do want the writer to get their song picked up. You nailed every single country-ism! It is a boring, musically brain dead genre. Great job.
My dad once wrote a song in highschool about the worst of country music. It went something along the lines of,
"i love my hog, I love my dog. Went outside, cut a log. Shot a frog (end of chorus, instruments hold) I"m a cowboy, baby".

Never got the appeal of it honestly. It's all been the same song for the past 40 years. The only country I like was made before 1980 like Johnny Cash or Hank Williams. Let's face it, it's hardly big brain music and you just basically admitted it.

I liked a few early 90s Garth Brooks songs for example "The Thunder Rolls" caught my attention because it has some almost hard rock vibes in it. As an avid country music listener and someone who was raised in the South, this was pretty spot on. My only critique would be that the southern drawl does not necessarily come from the word "rain", but more so the understanding that words like "still" and "steel" are in fact the same words, words like "theater" have three syllables instead of two, and the emphasis of words like "guitar" are more so on the "gui" than the "tar". Otherwise, phenomenal work!

Too many will never know the clever play on words, the great vocals, the chill inspiring instrumentation. Now it’s “chillin with the farmers daughter down a dirt road in my pickup truck when the sun goes down in a small town”, terrible Hip Hop inspired inflections on certain words, and lack of musicality in favor of pop/hip hop computerized tracks. Too many people moved to Nashville that don’t know anything about the genre and might as well have watched this video before writing because this is ridiculously accurate. Keep ‘em comin Stevie!
100% agree. Nashville pop country ruined everyone's perceptions of an otherwise amazing genre, simply because it was popular. All hope is not lost though, as there is a whole underground scene of artists bringing it back to its roots.
I'm not American and only knew "classic" country music which i thought was good and always liked, I never understood why it was so mocked until I heard *that* kind of country. Now I do understand
