Good advice. I appreciate you being real, honest and not withholding info that would be helpful.
I loved the 3rd evolution. The clear packaging and label I thought looked sleek, and professional.
It’s a good one for sure!
I first watched you just after i started making soap as a hobby about three years ago, you offered such good advice in those videos, came across as a very honest person who wanted to share experiences. I havent watched for a while life got busy, you had just moved home, so It is lovely to see this video. As for wrapping soap, i agree many use shrink wrap personally i hate it, and it is an expensive way to wrap soap making it less individualised. I much prefer the new boxes.
Very inspiring, I appreciate how you aren't afraid to change things up, branding-wise. It shows that you're so committed to your core mission statement, that you're not afraid to be creative and intuitive.
I would keep it like the last one but still wrap with the shrink wrap system. I love all of them it reminded me of my soap journey.
Aw so cool! Great suggestions!
I really liked the biodegradable with clear label. I thought it was simple and classy. Even though it might be a common method for wrapping, you're the only soap maker I buy from that uses it.
It’s super common here in Calgary!
I love the clear labels
Thank you for sharing your story, Jerika. I appreciate your stories so much!
I started with naked bars. Went to shrink wrap with the big c. And I agree- everyone was using clear labels. Now I am wrapping in paper. Not so worried about people seeing the pretty soap. I have photos on my website. I have a sample bar at markets. It has helped me get into more high end boutiques. Acomplete evolution, lol.
Yes!!! I love hearing other soap biz owner journeys 😊. I definitely think simpler targets a high end customer for sure.
Love watching how other soapers evolve packaging. I am going through a rebrand as well. If you still have worries about exposed soaps, you could still bio-shrink the soaps in the cute boxes. Best of both methods!
THIS video is so inspiring! I've been contemplating changing some things about my business and now I see the freedom we can have with changes. Thank you so much Jerika!
You’re welcome!
Hi Jerika, I'm so glad you made a video on this subject. Thank you for sharing your business evolution. Much love ❤️
Thanks for watching ❤
Thank you for all the advice! It has helped me become more “ modern” .. I started selling gms at farmers markets in 1994, dropped out when my daughter was I’ll and now am starting fresh. Your information has helped soooo much! I am now. A patron subscriber!
You go girl ! ❤ the new packaging your eyes reach for it & you just want to grab it 🧼🛁 happy soaping 😊
It looks very professional!! Loved seeing the transformation of your packaging!!
They are all lovely and practical. Bravoooo
I liked the clear packaging with clear stickers.
The bear looks like soap for kids. IMO
You've made great choices. Thank you for sharing your experience with the you tube family.
As a soap businesses, I’m with you I enjoy changing and improving my packaging
Yes I want to try all the things!
Thank you for giving us such awesome info! We’ve made two batches of your shea butter soap and can’t wait to try it once it’s cured!
Love the newest packaging with those adorable bear boxes! 🐻 I know it takes a lot of time, but so worth it! Definitely stands out!! Love your videos! Thanks for sharing! My soaps have been packaged the same for almost 7 years, but I constantly re-evaluate and want to try something different.
All 3 stages were great because you can see your growth which was so awesome to celebrate You! The 3rd one was great! Great job and keep growing! I'm just starting out and doing so much research and coming up with what will work best for me. Thank you for sharing!
That last look is lovely thanks for sharing
Great upload. Thanks for all that you guys share
For anyone looking, you don’t need to get such a sophisticated shrink wrap machine. It’s just a heated press. You can get one off amazing for $25. It won’t be as versatile or large as the more expensive models and there is a time cost but very good for upping your game while not scaling your costs too quickly
Love your style! Love your new soap packaging too - I am constantly changing - drives me insane!!!
Thank you for sharing. Big help for me. I keep not getting started on sell my soaps because I can’t figure out how I want to package them. This video was a huge relief
this was such an informative and inspiring video. I’m in the process of rebranding my small business and I really thank you so much for your transparency. ❤
Constant growth is good, and I’m learning to not be so hard on myself for making changes.
I totally agree! Good luck on the rebrand - I’ve done several of those and it’s always nerve wracking 😅
Great video and great information
They are all cool!!!
I like the end product the best. Looks really nice!
Love your videos ❤ I actually like all of the packaging
Thanks so much!
Thank you for your videos they are so helpful
Thank you for this video!!!! I have been stressing about what to use!
Happy it helped!!! ☺️
I like your final branded box, very cute
I love all 3. Yes we all start with one idea but God always gives us more creativity.
I am inspired by you because I'm in my 5th year of diy products and I'm restructuring my line again for the 3rd time.
This time I am really going to love my new look.
Keep doing a great job with your business
You gave me hope.
So interesting to see this process unfold and how as a teacher you share the ups and downs of the struggle to create……
Yes! 😊
Jerika, I loved this video you really touched on nearly all of my packaging issues. I guess I am just too much of a girl but it bothers me when I see shoppers bring the soap not only up to their noses but often are even touching the tips of their noses with the soap, one reason I currently use a shrink wrap. Right now I am battling with my desire to address all of these packaging issues and balancing that with the knowledge that currently folks are seeking minimal packaging, I have even observed some soaps are going to simply sticking the label to the soap. Guess these challenges are what make business operation fun and ever changing. (PS not soap related but I love your hair and glasses both are good looks on you)
Great video! I like the third evolution of your design. I was looking at the Cricut and decided on the Brother ScanNCut SDX125E as it was easier for me to design a label in Illustrator, print it out on a full-page label or thick paper my laser printer could handle, place it on the mat, scan it, then let the machine cut it out. I like prototyping ideas and I found this cheaper and quicker than sending it off to a professional printer (which costs lots of money) to get a sample printed - I need instant feedback and usually have 5-10 iterations on an idea. I'm like you, always constantly evolving and machines like the Cricut and Brother ScanNCut allow us to play with an idea and have it become something we can hold in our hands in a matter of minutes. Again, thanks for the video and keep evolving!
I find it so pretty ❤
Thank you very much.
I get it, I had a band, then shrink wrap, now I'm going naked, but I don't want the soaps to touch too much because of dents and dings so I am looking at shrink wrap again, but combining that element with a band... I get the clear label because people see what sells and they immulate, which is flattering but your product gets lost in the crowd. Thanks for all these awesome tips and advice.
What an excellent message at the end there! I know I always want it to be perfect the first time but that just isn't how it works!
Thank you so much for this!
You’re welcome !
Current one is my favorite but I did like the 1st one as well!
YES I've been very curious about the change in the company name/branding
😧 trying to find the right packaging has been my biggest hurdle! This was help thank you
thanks for your info.
Besides the awesome packaging ideas I LOVE your nails!
Thank you!!!!! I’m obsessed with this chrome nail trend !
I also liked A LOT the 3rd variation. Now I find it complicated and over the edge. I do not see the link between the soap and the bear. 😁
Really awesome, inspiring video, Jerika! I've been through several packaging myself! Although, I've NEVER changed my name! I don't believe you changed your name during your UA-cam videos. I've been here since the beginning and I think I'd remember that!
I rhink your newest packaging screams you! Quench Bear is definitely something I see you personally creating. It kinda fits who you are! I love your little half boxes. I believe you when you say it took you hours designing these boxes! It took me a few months to get my dust covers for candles right on that awful little machine, lol! Now I buy them! Easier on me and pretty inexpensive.
Have a great night!
Jill
I like the middle one
Very good
I remember loving the version with the clear wrap & sticker, it was so sleek & professional. But when I saw the most recent changes I thought wow! And suddenly the clear packaging looked boring and unoriginal 😂
Awesome. I think keep going.
I'd say I'm on number 4. My cart fell when we had a torrential downpour. I had all my shampoos and conditioners in beautiful vellum bags and they were completely destroyed. I found glass to be just too vulnerable to shipping and breaking during trips to market and back. My guests were complaining that wrapping my soaps in plastic meant they couldn't smell through the plastic even with the smell through ones (though it seems to work find with the bath bombs so I have no idea what they're talking about. Also, I tried white cardstock and white sticky labels with the plastic wrap. Then I tried boxes but found that those type of boxes are really common so I looked like too many others.
I followed your example and now my soap looks much better since I have custom boxes but I'm not sure they're the best way to do them because you're right in that you can't see the swirl inside, but you can see the top. I'm going to release my October soap on the 4th and I have special boxes I do for those that aren't really boxes but look more like a black tux.
Really, I want to go to clear labels for almost everything. I do badly need a new laser printer (or an ink jet) because mine is starting to have problems (like the wireless no longer working).
I like all the packages. But I love the bear box!
Aw thank you!!
All are really cute - but I think #3 is the best ....so far:)
Gidday Jerika ,I’ve been missing your you tube videos.
Gidday! 😊
Just a suggestion. I would still shrink wrap the soap and then put into the box. Just me thinking it would help protect it more and keep the fragerance from dissipating. Otherwise I love your packaging. I'm thinking along the same lines as you are with the packaging.
I like your bear boxes.
Great information for sure! BTW what laser printer and clear stickers brand(s) did you end up using.
Wow! You are definitely a hand talker. I honestly don't think you're hands were still from the second you started talking to when you were finished. Lol
Great evolution and wonderful that you can show the timeline. Can I ask you - cold process soap - does it not need to breathe/cure? As in, when you did clear bio labeling, did you leave room for it to breathe/cure? or, not worry about that? I like both looks and designs that you created! Just looking to future packaging. Also, question for you - what about salt soaps? Sweating? How to package? Thanks! Love your videos and will keep watching you grow! You are an inspiration!
Hello! Jerica, I'm just starting a soap business, I love your 3rd evolution pakg. I have a cricut but I don't have idea how to make a box for now I'm using the usps boxes, and I'm doing the shipping with usps but some customers don't want to pay to much for the shipping is very expensive, how can I do? There another way that I could us, Any advice I really appreciate.
Thank you very much!
This video is really helpful. Ma'am, may I know what is the weight and size in mm of your soap bars?
I wish i stay with u few months learn by helping you i just love it
This is beautiful Jerika, Love the 3rd packaging. I can see the evolution and constant growth. Well done.
I love the look of your latest label. Can you show the back side? I'm feeling that I've got too much info on my labels - ingredients, contact info, etc.
I have all of that too. It’s a lot but it’s good that it’s hidden in the back.
how convenient i just watched all your farmers videos to prep for my first market & just watched your last soap business evolution video 😂
Aw so cool! Thanks for watching!
Love that you kept your first soap but yes looks like it would take too long to wrap! ha ha What parchment paper did you use that could be recycled as the normal stuff can't be recycled. Great video, love the bear ears :)
What last jet do you recommend
You are amazing! Your soap is beautiful!❤️
I liked them all but what about wrapping the soap in the clear bio plastic and then slipping them in the box. Once you get your printing down or get them professionally printed in bulk so you don't have to use stickers, maybe? That way you don't have to worry about the sandwich bags. I'm just thinking because you already have the system and it's such a wonderful way to protect the soap. How are customers liking your new branding? It looks a little like Kawaii - like Hello Kitty etc - and I know that's popular!
Hello I would like to ask is you have plan to teach about making soaps ?
I love the last packaging because the logo is more visible, even though the top of the soap is not protected. For the second one, I am afraid that plastic packaging does not allow the soap to breath... Do you confirm?
I reckon i believe people get too hung up on making change.I the change makes a person happy they should do it.But I do understand sometimes change can be daunting .Sometimes people are scared of failing. But from failing you are learning.
100%!!!!
I love your videos, you’re an amazing person because always bring us advices and I really appreciate it! My English is not good, but I try to understand everything you said, and of course it help me to practice! Thank you very much! 🫶🏼💜
Does anyone know the size of her labels by chance ?
I really want to cut soap boxes with my Cricut but I have no idea how to even design a box ,I need to hire someone to do the template for me .
Hi, I am Mod from Ghana, I would like to become a patreon but I don't have a PayPal account. How do I make the payment?
I love your soap appearance ❤ I think the third one is more elegant (see thru) and you can see the beautiful soap design. In my opinion, The last design looks for another type of target market a younger niche. Quench is more of an elegant name as quench bear is for a younger target market. Again my humble opinion Your soaps are beautiful ❤ and love your channel and sharing your quest.
💕💕💕💕💕
❤😊
I love both of the last two. Have you considered wrapping in shrink wrap and then putting in the boxes, for better protection?
I literally ordered those glasss and they got seized as counterfeit
Although I admire your new packaging, I just can not have my soaps naked at all. Dirt, lint, hair collects on them. It collects over time.
Yep, just like my 5 year old soap that was covered in pet hair 😅
quench bear speaks soap for children and I would not reach out for that soap, clear packaging was classy and simple, the design applied to all buyers. Georgian Bay doesnt go with the ears, new logo sucks
Hard for me to figure out why homemade SOAPERS lean towards All-Natural "representation" but put on fake nails, eyelashes ... and makeup. Just why?
Love watching how other soapers evolve packaging. I am going through a rebrand as well. If you still have worries about exposed soaps, you could still bio-shrink the soaps in the cute boxes. Best of both methods!
