- Eden Alene is an Israeli singer. She will represent Israel in the Eurovision Song Contest 2020 held in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. "The Next Song" is scheduled to be aired live on 3 March 2020, 20:30 CET, on the Israeli "KAN 11" tv channel. Which song will "WOW" American Eurovision blogger Alesia Michelle. When she says "eskista" at 7:43, that is the que for Ethiopian shoulder dance which they will perform on stage to the faster beat from 7:43 until the end of the song. I really hope this song will go through because this could really be a moment at the eurovision stage.

Feker Libi has always been my favorite omg I LOVE IT
Strongest line-up of any selection this year. Feker Libi is unlike anything we’ve had at the contest so far, and doesn’t feel watered down for Western consumption. Rakata feels like the safe option because it’s so instant and accessible compositionally. Roots was purpose built for a live performance. I like Saviour In The Sound, but it needed another minute for a full pay-off. Basically, Israel have served 3 top 10 entries regardless.

I'm with you, girl. I voted for Feker Libi. It's so versatile. It's packed with different ethnic rhythms, yet remains sharp, and will probably include some Eskista Ethiopian dance in that final section. So cool. I'm worried cause I keep hearing everyone wanting Rakata, but it's so dull and predictable. It's got nothing on this one. Thanks for the review!

So I have to admit that I was more drawn towards Roots at first but after watching Alexia’s review, I totally understand where she’s coming from and her perspectives. Definitely proud of Israel finally using this opportunity to showcase its diversity.
I agree with you that it's gotta be Roots of Feker Libi. I'm personally rooting for Feker Libi. It's partially in Amharic, one of Ethiopia's official languages! I mean, come on. Israel isn't playing this year.

The only two official languages of Israel are Hebrew and Arabic. But yes we have a large Ethiopian population. (also large Russian population, American and many many others, cause Israel :) )

It's gonna be a big fight between Feker Libi and Rakata. It seems the majority in Europe finds Rakata more appropriate. The opposite is the situation in Israel... the Israelis viewers will probably vote for Feker Libi, but the judges... who knows...
Tomorrow is the final decision 😉 so we'll see.

Roots live was my Maruv of this year. It was polished and perfect. I will treasure it. I’m from Israel and I voted for this song and it won, I’m so happy! The song is in 4 languages; Amharic, Hebrew, Arabic and English. Feker libi - Amharic, habib albi - Arabic, ahuv libi - Hebrew. Feker libi means “me beloved one” or “love of my heart” 💕

Honestly all of them would do pretty well at Eurovision, but considering how difficult Semi 1 is, I think it's between Rakata and Feker Libi to elevate and standout above the others.

As long as Eden doesn't pull a stunt like Roxen did yesterday and purposefully sabotage her own performances to make sure she doesn't get a song she doesn't want, Eden is in high contention to be my winner this year.
She's a professional and so is the production. Israel is aiming at winning and will totally choose the best option.
The performances will be pre-recorded so it's not really possible.

I think either Roots or Saviour in the Sound should win as they have some vocals included. Feker libi is awesome, but is not maximizing her vocals. I'm israelian btw, so I voted Roots. If you didn't know, Eden Alene won X Factor before she has won The Next Star to the Eurovision, and I legit fell in love with her voice wayyy back to her audition on X Factor. She has such a rare voice... But if I'm being honest, none of the 4 songs are maximizing her vocals. If one would maximize her vocals, she would be banned from the Eurovision because girl, this is unfair.

I'm a little worried because usually Eurovision audience is not that open to African inspired music, you can see how they're playing Czech Republic already. I'm just concerned about that one. I think maybe Roots or Rakata will be a safer choice? Roots is also risky but in a different way. Idk. What do you think?

Feker libi was just chosen before a few minutes in the public vote! ALL the live performances are WAYYYYY better than the audio! The song feker libi, translated to English "My love" was written on Eden's boyfriend (they have a serious relationship), Jonathan. The song is in 5 languages: Amharic, Hebrew, Arabic, English and African - it's a sort of mixed African languages, creating it. You can notice it in the "Maka Lakuma DE DE, Maka Lakuma De Masa" part.
