Attempting to make old wheels look better on our GMC Roadster pickup!

- In this video we get a lot done. First we fix the door on our GMC, then build & install support braces for the running boards under the truck. Ryder works on his quad and builds a custom fuel tank and I polish and paint the wheels on the Roadster pickup.

At 47 and making myself learn about welding the last couple years, I wish I would have learned it at a younger age like this kid is.. got to get him into metal shaping as well.. he will be able to hand build a car by 25 all by himself…. I wonder if he’s aware how much of a blessing it is for him to have the opportunity to learn those things at his age.. especially with such a talented teacher 💯
Retired welder here, was a good living, built elevators for 31 years
Ryder is lucky to have a classic Beverly Shear to use. ❤ from Austin TX.
I started at forty and made a living fabricating stainless steel .You have time Sir !
The lessons he’s learning are shaping his future. The patience you have showing him is amazing. These skills will be memories he’ll have for a lifetime.
Watching Ryder is half the fun of watching any of your videos. Just had a crazy idea, next time you add some more shirts to your mercs. How about one that says, "it'll be Fine!"
Looking forward to the vinyl top. Good job Brent and Ryder.
Looks awesome brother, would love to paint that ride
Ryder is so lucky to have you as a mentor. I wish I had the same when I was his age.
Watching the young man learn to do Fab work is one of the Best things on UA-cam. Ty for taking your time to pass on your skills & ty for taking us along
He has a real talented teacher! He should be a real good welder by the time you get done teaching him! Way to go!
Nice work Brent and Rider Nice job on the tank
Every teenage kid needs a Brent!
Teach Ryder at a early age C A D “cardboard assisted design” and the proper cardboard to use. Great job.
Very impressed with the work Ryder is doing. Good teacher, good student.
He really has learned alot in a short time
Ryder is going to have his own channel before you know it! Just rocking out all of these priceless skills and knowledge from his grandpa!
Great effort Ryder....well coached😊
It is nice to see that a young man. It's interesting in doing his own work, and not having someone else do it. I'm proud of him. Tell him the tank looks good.
Ryder don't take that. Lol! I have never built a tank that didn't leak somewhere. At least after the first round of welds.
Nice job Ryder👍 wheel cleaning 101 😂😂😂😂 looks good Brent 😎
Brent, it’s nice to see you working with your grandson
I’m glad you take the time with Ryder and your grandson to show them how to do things when you’re a gentleman scholar.
That's a really dedicated dad.
Rider is so lucky to be learning hot rodding. Well done Brent.
Like how the wheels came out.
It wont be long before Ryder has his own channel and showing his builds!
Awesome to see a young man wanting and willing to learn. Great job, Ryder!
Like most of the comments...Good on you Brent for showing the Art of Metal in all its forms and faculties...Ryder is surely lucky to have you as a a mentor...Your patients and attitude to Ryder will surely make him into afine gentlelman
Great job on the wheels, they look great! Ryder is a lucky dude having you in his life! He is getting a nice toolbox of skills from you, outstanding job on the lessons. Ok can't wait to see the truck painted now! Thanks for the videos Brent & Co.
You won't get much better than learning from the Halfass School. Those wheels look mint!
I think is fantastic that you take time to teach Ryder your skills. From my experience most younger kids do not want to learn how to do this kind are work.thank you all your videos😊
Truck is looking good!😊 Ryder is doing well. I wish I had someone to show me stuff when I was younger!
WAY TO GO RYDER!!!!!
Rider's coming up with some of those ideas that you are instilling in him for the future . Just great . He catches on pretty good with your teaching ! 👍
the tank turned out better than I thought it would
Ryder is fortunate to a Grampa like you to teach him. with the skills he is learning, that old Dodge pickup is gonna give The General a run for its money.
Ryder’s not family he’s a neighbour’s son
Ryder is so blessed with your teaching. Loved the video.
This truck really stands apart from the rest. One of a kind. By the time Ryder is 30 he is going to be a certified badass builder. Cant start em too young ,looks like he is really good already.the fast cut is paying for itself already . That was like 6 hrs of hand fabbing just the one side brackets. Good work
kick on the tank, Sure Ryder will be a great sheet metal dude after sometime, Man those wheels look great
It’s looking good, Brent I didn’t see your vision before, but I see it now it’s going to be a crowd pleaser
It's good to see the younger guys working on some fabricating. I have no problem watching any one figure things. Go Ryder.I think it's awesome to see you working together.
Glad to see Ryder build stuff he needs with your help 👌
Love watching Ryder smile while you work with him. You would make an absolutely awesome vocational teacher if you wanted to. For now Ryder gets an education from the master.
The 47 is really getting close. You got a lot of the little but important stuff done in this one. The wheels are gonna look perfect with the center caps. Be careful now, you might have to change the garage name. Nothing half asked about this 47. LOL. Can't wait to see you and Esther cruising this one.
Lots of progress on many fronts in this video, looking better and better each time.
Ryder is going to be quite the fabricator with your teaching. Great to see.
You are doing a good job letting him do the work
I think Ryder will be another Brent . good job.
Wheels fit nicely with the style of the truck. Like you said you can always change them. I say keep em. Good video.
Those wheels cleaned up really well, they look great 👍
Ryder's come a long ways with his fab and welding skills. He should be proud of what he's accomplished he's doing well.
I did metal rims for my suv, so I completely understand your lack of enthusiasm towards having to sand and prep those rims and paint them. It's a lot of freaking work btw U're rims look smart Brent. I like them !!!
5 pin holes in tank Brent. Nice tunes. Wheels came out great!
like 34 ! Love what you are doing to your pick up .
Thanks for sharing your content Brent. Ryan had a great future with you sharing your knowledge. Take care. Happy Sunday.
Not many kids Ryder’s age can tell their buddies they built the fuel tank for their Quad. 💪👍🏼
I have watched your entire build on this. Major Ton of work. Ans it looks really cool Brent. Inspiring
Man you got a lot done on this video. Ryder is one lucky kid to learn from you. Never know Halfass and a Half Kustoms 🤔
Like, share and keep telling your friends.
Great audio track as usual. Some of it sounds like it came straight out of Stax Studio in the 60's and the guitar doodling song has been stuck in my head ever since I watch the video. Keep up the great work.
Super video from you both. The young man is learning well from a great teacher. The wheels are sure looking amazing, as is the truck as it coming together.
Came over from 'OAK SWAMP', great channel, good luck.
Brent, if your worried about header leaks at the head area, buy 2 sets of stock SBC manifold gaskets, double them up with the metal sides outwards, been doing this for yrs with absolutely zero leaks! In fact I did this on my 68 chevy belair 14 yrs ago and no leaks to this day, I also cut the collector flanges off and welded the pipe instead of using the bolt on flanges. Hope this helps you or someone else. Thank's for sharing!
Ryder did really well on the tank!
Truck is coming together wheels and white walls look great well done sir Brent.Thats is quite a tank you and Ryder have nade he's learning again well done
Rider is getting pretty good at tap welding, nice tank.
Brent now you say daily driver, I say show piece ! That GMC Roadster is getting better and better every time you work on it.
Teaching ryder is really great. Like the wheels.
I'am guessing all the cardboard beer cases are from all the beer getting drank while mentally figuring out your project dilemmas.
Good use of all that beer. By the way love the painted wheels. Ryder is learning some great skills from grandpa.
good that you are showing our young people the craft of patience but who is Ryder stay safe have fun
I think Ryder is the neighbors kid
I have mentioned it before but he's one of the neighbors boy.
As an old body man I say you can't rush body work. It's an art form and you are good. Just keep at it and you will be done soon
See you got the front bumper looking good! Good time to get Ryder practicing on the Tig welding! He’s going to be a good mechanic, learning from a master! That’s some real steel in that hinge 😅
Love watching this Brent. Beautiful build too !
Brent, you're doing a big one for that teenager! He's already at a level that not many adults reach in such a short time! Good on you! Cheers!
Hell, I know guys in their 50s that can't weld as well as that kid...at least he's got penetration.
I think those wheels came out fantastic, almost like new, 👍
Love watching you mentor Ryder.
Can't wait to see the truck done it will totally be awesome
Thank you Brent. Saw Ryder in a previous video when Karl was there. But, he’s really come a long way with you. Looking foward to seeing him work on his pickup. Thanks for sharing!
💕👊👍💯
Always enjoy seeing Ryder, he doesn’t say much, but seems to a great kid!

Hang in there Brent, it seems that every project is 90% bodywork and 10% the other stuff!🥵
That gmc lookin sooo nice, please paint the top same as body color
A lot of good content, the new plasma cutter is cool. I like the tires and rims.
Brent, it is very gratifying to see you working together, congratulations.
it is cool how you teach and work with your grandsons!!!
Esther, how does this guy find so much positive even when he's dealing with his least favorite activity: sanding?
Wheels and tires look good. 👍
One step closer to a road trip. Good to see Ryder learning from you.
She’s looking great, Brent. It’s going to be one of the coolest trucks on the road.

@ 38:30 Use felt, it should be enough to pad but still fit the truck. The wheels look NICE!
Love the four wheeler content, but please make sure the steering passes tank when you turn
I've watched that build since u started it love the truck
The wheels came out nice .
Them wheels are bad ass on there
Helping youngblood man you really excite me ! And as always thanks for sharing ! 👍😁
Great memorys what for Ryder to remember many years later. I use truck valves for the hinge pin instead of the softer bolts. Thanks for sharing all that.
Building the tank was fun!
As always if you hadn't said anything about the time I wouldn't have known lol ! Great video !
